It sounds as though you did not pay enough attention in science class at primary school

One Cable snapped, but the cabin was still held up by another cable. As it fell the snapped cable badly cut a girl who was on the ride probably happened about 20 meters off the ground. They got everyone off relitively un harmed. Also reminds me of the time the probe magnets were removed for maintenece and a particularly nasty incident that occured with them in the maintenence workshop. If we are talking about the same incident here, where the operator was a rather tall and very lanky operator. I am pretty impressed that you remembered an incident that occured before you even started working there Bussy! Now that is impressive.

I am sure Bussy will be happy to tell you about some. I can recall quite vividly when the cable snapped while the train was going up the lift. (Infact I remember it happened twice) Getting stuck there (on lift 2) was fairly regular. Nothing particularly out of the ordinary at all. It got stuck once (back in about 97 or 98 my memory is getting bad) on the track between the teardrop & the boomerang. They had to get ladders to get everyone off the ride there. Bussy, I will let you take it up from here...

WLS...Best? Fairest?.. Who remembers these Moments Awards?

Hrmm a very interesting thread. I too remember the Action Man Media launch, deary deary me, too much pyrotechnics me thinks. I think personally the most amusing thing I ever saw was someone trying to put a train away at Bush Beast (lets call him Mr D), holding open the transfer brake and seeing the train go quite quickly into the garage, hit the stoppers at the end and the front two carriages pop up into the air and fall over the end of the track to be just hanging there in the air while the rest of the train was in the garage, I was laughing very hard untill a man with a very thick english accent (wonder who that could be??) told me that it was not funny. Or perhaps the day that some clown managed to leave a wrench in the back of one of the SP cabins that fell out and gouged a hole in the concrete when it fell out on the first cycle of the day. But good times were also had. I remember riding on Aqua tube with 3 boats tied together and 20 people crammed into the 3 boats, I have never gone down there so fast in my life. It was every man for himself at the bottom of the runout as you tried to stop before the end. -
I think you will find that Australian's on the whole had not had much experience with wooden coasters up untill that point, and as a result the operators of Wonderland felt there might be some trepidation from the public. So I guess it was all about reassurance for people, because lets face it, you see a wooden coaster and you see it shake and sway and a lay person will look at that and think that its not safe. Whereas us experts (yes all of us here) know that the coaster is actully designed to do that.

There were actually two trains beng run during the day for the comp. One for guests and one for the contestants. I operated during the comp and it was pretty cool.

A small kid drowned in the pool at Wonderland a few years back as well

I would like to wish Wonderland a Happy 20th birthday today! I am sure had it not been pulled down there would be massive celebrations

Knowing how long ago it was that you were employed there Queen I think the people that you are referring to and the people that everyone else is talking about (Bali wedding)are not the same people. But yes the people whom you are referring to also did indeed get hitched. I am sure you still have bad dreams about her frizzy blonde hair

WRONG!! You too are also wrong Alex, as the Dinosaur exhibition thing was in the HB Theatre (that of course later became the Galaxy Theatre. There was an old plane that was used as part of it that sat out the back of Character House for many many many many years

Believe me I know.... I am sure that Dan will back me up in the fact that I know
-
Nahh Bussy, this was a different one. I know this one that you refer to rather rather well. That particular one, that you refer to the woman was off the ride in under 20 mins.
-
If you actually knew anything Alex, (which from reading a lot of your posts is not much) the General Manager of Luna Park in Melbourne, was formerly the Operations Manager of Australia's Wonderland. I also enjoy your massive exaggeration. This particular incident you refer to, was rectified in exactly 90mins.
-
It was the two area Supervisors for the old SRR/BB area from the first season of Wonderland in 85/86

I'll tell ya who it was Dan.....DC

I know you you are thining about Bussy, but nahh its not him. This person was probly a little bit before your time
-
Yeah after reading the 60 ft in the air thing I must apologise, well i hope they had fun getting them out. LOL
-
Ahh Paul the maint guys were pretty good. Except for one particular old man, (whose name I shall not name) who was manager for quite quite some time and had a very very thick english accent and was definately an a#%hole

After looking at this report on this site, I concluded that this incident occured in the section of track between the boomerang and the tear drop, not in the boomerang. This has occured at Wonderland before, (between the boomerang & teardraop) and I know for a fact, it has stopped in this position with guests on it, and they had to be evacuated from the ride via ladders. But it has NEVER EVER, been stuck in the boomerang with guests on it. (Daniel you can ask your old supervisor mate, whose name starts with the same letter that yours does) cauase he happened to be the superisor of that area during his first incarnation at the place when this incident happened.

You are an IDIOT! The sun and the magnetic pull of the poles have absolutely NOTHING to do with the tides. If you actually listened during science in High school you would know that the tides are caused by the motion of the moon

All, Here is a small selection of some of the stuff that I have managed to get around to scanning from the very early days of the park, some of it even pre-dates the opening. I have held onto this for a while, but I feel that you all wish to see some of this stuff. So here it is

U r too funny Daniel.....
