I was clearly bored and just looking at stuff and found this http://www.newsparcs.com/en/article/00005476-eas_2011__interview_with_john_wood_chairman__ceo_of_sally_corporation it talks with the CEO of Sally Corp and something interesting is the mention of something BIG slated for Christmas 2012, now this could be for any park in the world I'm not always on top of what some international parks are doing, however Christmas is winter for the majority of the big and I don't see too many opening rides in winter around the Christmas period. It says a major location at a major park which makes me think not us, but when it says intellectual property it made me think straight away of a Batman or LT replacement (especially if they kept the themes or DC theme and changed the ride). I'm probably way off, but it just got my imagination going, I want these attractions to stay dark rides, they make dark rides and Christmas 2012 sounds about right. When it comes to dark rides (I've never experienced one of their products) but I have heard they are one of the best when it comes to these attractions.

Since the park appears to be getting a whole refresh, can I be greedy and put down a new paint job for SE as well?? -
The Parkz Update: Movie World, September 30 2011
Original replied to Richard's topic in Latest News & Updates
Wow MW really is getting a whole make-over, new slide on WWF, new trains for LW and new replacements in the future for BMTR2 and LT. See when you don't live close anymore you don't get to see or hear this stuff anymore until you read the update, so thanks. I think new trains are a great idea, hopefully they vastly improve the ride. Everyone I know thinks the ride is great, that it is has a great layout, unique that your legs hang and that you go upside down so many times, the one thing that stops them from not riding it is you feel like your ears are bleeding every time you get off. Question with the new trains in the end will there be 2 trains for in the peak times, because I have no doubt if the trains make the ride smoother it will see bigger crowds? Also, I haven't seen the new queue, can someone explain where it starts and what it now misses out on? I would imagine there would have to be some advertising to let people know its had an upgrade, could they open the shop then and revert the queue back to the old way and give it an update. Seeing as though the ride has no down time before Christmas I don't think we will be seeing a re-theme though. -
I want LT to remain LT, how about maybe going with some high-tech rapids like we've seen around the world... theres a Popeye one themed at Universal... why couldn't MW do one with LT? ^ Or something like Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, however that park gets so hot in Summer and WWF gets so busy with people trying to cool off I would love to see a second water ride. For BMTR2, I would like to also stay Batman themed as the only Batman themed ride at the moment is Batwing, which is a nice but no story that BMTR2 or SE has/had. Hopefully Green Lantern will also have a story/theming of some type. Anyway, keep the Batman theme, maybe update for current franchise, keep a simulator, its really something you can't experience here, add some 3D maybe and update the pods so they can do a lot more to make it a much more enjoyable experience! A compelling story, that really takes on an adventure and a fun ride, that seemed to be the biggest complaint with guests, they found it boring, which is a shame. For BT, BT please? No, I just thinking back about it before. That had such a great story that really got you involved and for first time riders to found out the girl was an alien and UFO's disappearing and then going through fire. A story about the famed Bermuda Triangle the Coast Guard, that whole areas theme, just awesome. I could see something to do with Atlantis, it seems to be big with the overseas SW's and then theres whole thing of how SW loves to promote conservation and education with a ride, show or attraction. Imagine, Planet SOS, Jet Rescue and Polar Bear Shores all examples.

I haven't been to Disney so I can't comment but I have no doubt they were world class, and probably not just Disney but Universal standards as well? But not just Bermuda, Gremlins and Looney Tunes but Wild West Falls when it first opened, (Gremlins replacement) Scooby-Doo, that POV with the lights on... theres so much extra theming you don't even see, Batman the whole story and theming of that ride, Superman has that excellent pre-show coaster section and while Lethal Weapon doesn't have a story it IMO has some pretty darn good theming with China town and all! So I would say that it is world class and I hope for the future they can instil pride and passion in all those who work for the park and we see it maintain high standards (fingers crossed for Green Lantern, and Looney Tunes and Batman replacement). I think come Fright Nights we could see this pride? With what I'm sure will be an amazing looking park!
-
My god, I'm really surprised no one here hasn't been talking about this earlier! I mean it is still a rumour until confirmed by management but I heard about Nick leaving DW about a month ago. I think if it is happening DW should really announce it if theming is coming down... or maybe they want it to disappear nice and quietly?!!

I'm liking that it says BIG 3

Found this on the Gold Coast website, so I'm guessing it was in The Bulletin today, but looks like SW don't want that mack coaster going out anyway!! I'm guessing when they say the land opposite, its the land right behind the car park?? Its kind of shame that the park had a chance to expand and they've decided to let it go... but now their worried what's going to be built there doesn't make a lot of sense though I love reading the comment and how down below and how down they are on SW but I always find that on newspaper website people never have a positive comment http://www.goldcoast.com.au/article/2011/05/26/318171_gold-coast-business.html

Loved the report... gotta admit I'm a little jealous you got to do this... so far I've been to San Francisco for a week and the majority of time I was there at the uni and didn't get much free time!! But I'm planning a trip next year hopefully so I plan to finally do the park... plus some other Hollywood touristy things... wouldn't mind going to the taping of one of those late night shows
-
Really?? Could have sworn it was the other way round huh oh well then forget the rant! Wait so Wyncenuros are you saying S&S El Locco??
-
I think Joker could be cool... but do we really need another Batman themed ride... I wouldn't mind DC Comic themed since that's what they seem to put at the front of the park!! Can I say that's a huge gripe of mine when people move on top of things like theme parks and then complain... same thing with Parkwood bike track... it had been there long before the Arundel Estate yet when the houses came along they whinged and whinged about the noise and got it shut down Now bike's aren't my thing but you knew what you were moving near DEAL WITH IT!!! People built houses around MW, now they may not have had WWW and SE when these people moved in but if you didn't think the park would expand then you need your check!! Anyway that's my rant over!!
-
^ Yes, that's exactly something I was getting at! Plus to keep people spending I would love to see offerings that are very rare to get somewhere else that people just have to buy, like Ben & Jerry's and funnel cakes, something like Bugs ears and if we are getting a coaster at MW this year why not put cameras on them to record people, not just photo's, like in skydiving and other coasters so the GP "Wow, that's unique, we really have to have to show everyone at home!" And please if you are going to have up charge offering's please at least theme them to area so they don't clearly stand out or like people just went to Bunning's one day, threw it all together in one night and then painted it some bright colour!

What does get me when people say the park and its rides use to be all about the movie making experience. I really beg to differ, all the rides at the park were the same as today immerse you into the theme of the movie, give you a story and take you on that adventure. I mean the original Batman Adventure might be better, but it does the same as the one today immerse in the world of Batman and take you on an adventure. Gremlins Adventure took you into that movie and immersed you in that story, Scooby does the same with theme from the movie and you at the end saving the day. Even PA immersed in the world of PA it didn't teach you about making movies if anything Hollywood Stunt Driver gets you more into about making movies. Looney Tunes closet thing about making movies was it was set in a Hollywood studio where Bugs disappears to Australia and you have to find him so they can keep making it, from their your taken into the world that is Looney Tunes. LW may not have the pre-show anymore but according to what most people say it didn't have anything to do with the ride really Wild West takes you into that theme of Wild West movies and the craziness that it is. SE takes you into Metropolis (I do wish the area outside SE was themed to this) where something bad happens Superman saves you, it takes you on a story/adventure of the world of Superman. The only thing that really isn't taking you into the movie is Batwing and yes I wish they had made some attempt but saying that the area that surrounds it is very nice. I do wish as well the dogems and games surrounding it were either theme to that area or not there at all!! Really the only two things that showed you how movie were made was the studio tour, which I will say I miss and think it was a very interesting and important part of MW and the special effects show... which I mean in the end wasn't very popular and after all MW is catering to a mass cliental not a small one and they wanted something like SE and MW delivered very well on this and as a consequence the tour had the right amount of room and wasn't popular so I'm sad its gone really. Now MW's roof has some pro's and con's it now allows you to get out of the rain and our of the Sun in Summer, it now can provide great events like the Christmas, Halloween and DC Parade events I'm sure its all a great source of revenue for the park for functions and keeps in the noise from nearby residents. However MW's Main Street may not have the same feel for some people with something covering it, those big trees gone and fake grass in the middle and the poles in random places that seem to cut out details on some of the buildings. Same goes for the screen, I mean if your in the wrong spot and the action is happening somewhere else on Mainstreet you can't see or someone tall is front of you, you can look at the screen to see what's happening, plus I think it adds to the movie theme of camera running up and down Mainstreet. However, it blocks out a great building that it the Daily Planet and seems to be randomly placed. Maybe it should get placed in front of a DW building, it might be still a nice building, but with those colours that you need sunglasses to protect yourself from the brightness the screen would do very well to cover that!! I mean I miss these attraction, I mean I also miss the show on the paddle boat at DW , Terror Canyon at WnW and the Ski Show and BT at SW but what I want to finally say (I know this post is long) we can't forget the past we come from, it made us who we are, but we can't get bogged down in it we have to live in the present of what we have and plan for the future!

There is already a discussion on this... but I think I saw last night on The Outsiders page saying that the new VIP Pass will go on sale July 1st. They didn't say pricing, now I'm all for the VIP Pass returning, however I think the price of it should at least raise (then again is it worth with so many closed attractions atm or up charge attractions ) but anyhow I would like to see the price raised and then offer deals in terms of people's birthdays, and discounts on F&B and merch!! Because pass holders just don't spend the money in the parks and as I've pointed out before all the people I know leave the park to eat and then come back! Then you've got all these people in the park but the same amount of operators or one train operation, when it desperately needs 2 and as a consequence people soon become annoyed and angry with the park and word of mouth spreads. The GP don't understand because the pass is so cheap quality can't be sustained they think because they paid they should receive the best experience. Anyway what I'm saying if it does return I'd like the price increased so we maintain the quality within the parks and keep up a good word of mouth... and discount F&B, merch and other things the park offers to keep guests spending, and to help this introduce new and different things to interesting for the guests not to buy or try like they've done with Ben & Jerry's and new and interesting merch as was discussed in the other thread!

As I said in another post I would love this... a great dark ride if the River Ride ain't staying either like Men In Black or Toy Story Midway Mania or do it like the mermaid that has just been finished at DCA or any other model/version/movie theme Disney has done http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIarm5FEQXI&feature=player_detailpage Just theme it to Looney Tunes... biggest problem is budget but as I said before they have done things in-house before to bring costs down i.e. Bermuda Triangle.

^ Gotta say after looking at that video of Dare Devil Dive from TPR of the lap bar restraints it seems to make it a lot better
-
Okay just after I left my post... I thought of something "Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit" I mean we've spoken on here about something like this before a music themed ride with speakers on board... I mean Universal has one and MW these days seems to do what the big movie themed parks in America do so.... thats my wild guess Plus apparently it has some cool night effects, anyone here already been on it and can say whats its like??
-
I didn't see the news.. but I'm guessing it was Queensland's flashback?? I don't live in Queensland anymore so does anyone know if its somewhere on the internet or of someone recorded it and can put it on YouTube... I tried their website and its not there yet.

What one gets a X-coaster, the other Euro Fighter? Or both X-Coaster.... another MDMC and JR/Tornado and Green Room over again. I understand that its not one trying to keep up with the other, what you do, we do better, they both have the same idea and because these things take their time they will have been exploring these rides for some time. But my god its like they've got clones of one another working at each park, its a shame that the parks come up with a new idea, but the other just happens to be thinking the same thing! Thats if this is the same!!

Gotta say after reading the Maurer Sohne, SkyLoop's website inverting at 50meters in the air with only a lap bar has to be an experience, although without riding can't say. I am hoping its the extended one, but with capacity and all I say they build this custom version of it, it looks with loops and all and lots of hills... plus more than one train so good capacity http://www.maurer-rides.com/x-coaster/skyloop/custom/

I wouldn't mind something like this being built at MW, either for this new attraction or to replace the LTRR. I mean what a great family attraction for everyone and world class, I don't care if down the road is getting a new coaster and everyone gets into a coaster race "I have more than you" I want something for the whole family to do when at the parks and done properly!! Also I think its something TPR were pointing out that more rides like this would really put it on the map!! Some how though I think this on a Disney scale could be completely out of the budget But I mean hey they've been able to do things in-house before and bring the cost right down i.e. BT!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIarm5FEQXI&feature=player_detailpage
-
Hahaha yes Gazza hence why isaid something... Wasn't too sure and couldn't be bothered checking Anyone know what SE capacity is like when it only has 1 train running??
-
first of all sorry if this reply isn't great I'm trying to do it off a phone!!! I think this ride is really... I have one problem and that's capacity... Everyone will flock to this ride (if it's the one being built) and have to ages SE has something like 1200 ppl per hour and we've seen what that's like in peak times!! Now GD, TOT2 have horrible capacity... Cyclone desperately needs a second train (seriously can DW please buy and operate a second train for this ride, no joke!) for busy times cause even on slow day waits can be abissmal, and motorcoaster with the only coaster in park with 2 tarins never uses them and even when their used capacity on that isn't great! Even the reptar and old mine coaster didn't have good capacities... None of DW's coaster have good capacity it's saves by rides like The Claw and Wipeout! Down the road MW only seems to have people guzzling rides! I'm just hoping that this new ride provides an awesome experience, has some nice theming and a good capacity to help the park out for the next peak season!!
-
So does this mean were not going to see anything of Looney Tunes this year and there going to wait until next or will they be like DW and do two new attractions this year?? Also with the new attraction at the front if thats what it is... does this mean the LTRR is just going to be fully refurbished and opened and marketed as an updated version for the 20th birthday or completely redone for the 20th birthday?? So many questions! But I guess that means that this year my hope for a complete re-do of LW with new trains and maybe fire ain't gonna happen!! Or the hope that the show stage will get a new big show and some more love up towards the Wild West area!! I am surprised though since this is their 20th birthday and their not marketing it harder like DW and same goes for SW surprised their not marketing their birthday harder. I gotta admit though I did not see that one coming!!!
