It was always funny, when the presenter wouldn't get to finish in time and Foghorn would just talk over the top of him and answer a question that hadn't been asked yet. :|

VIllage Roadshow Studios Gold Coast 2018
Original replied to Jamberoo Fan's topic in Theme Park Discussion
But isn't the current Paradise Country trams the old studio tour trams?? -
No fear, the looping roller coaster was there, as well as the Disk'O ride and a haunted maze at the other side of the show.
-
Yea I think getting HP is just about as unrealistic as getting Marvel comics, while Warner has the rigths, it has the rights to the movies and if you want to have something with a HP theme your going to have to cough the big dollars and that's why companies like Universal has it... because they have the guest numbers and money to afford the licence. Also if you were paying that much for the licence I think the last thing you would want is to re-theme a SLC
-
Maybe market it as a major re-do.... although from what someone said earlier that doesn't go with the VTP management of building things with less moving parts.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong but is that area behind the SW car park not owned by indigenous groups?
-
If we're all about improving rides, which VTP seem to love doing at the moment even if replacing the old rides, I would love to see LW have a makeover and specifically have the trains changed... I think it was just proved how bad they were when TPR visited and said it was the worst SLC by Vekoma they had ever been one!! That should just show how rough it is and how its time for new trains, which by reviews seem to very comfortable and maybe if they added things like fire and such like X2 they could market it as a whole new experience and breath new life into it!!

Bermuda Triangle is officially closed... Now what?
Original replied to reginaphalange's topic in Theme Park Discussion
If it was an Atlantis theme I would love to see the volcanoes stay, however only if the fire could come back, however I don't see that happening so whatever they build I would be hoping that it can be something iconic since it is seen from the majority of the park it can be seen on the Gold Coast Highway when driving through Labrador and Southport and it is in what I consider the middle of the park. I mean the park really did a great job on the old waterpark, I'm hoping for their 40th birthday they pull out all stops for it, whether I think they will or not I am definitely hoping. SW management while your at it can you please re-do your games section be done like a sea side boardwalk instead of something that was slapped up. Oh and management for their birthday bring back the ski show even if for just one show for the anniversary, after all it is its history and how the park started?? -
I think this is a good ride and it does get fantastic reviews from people proving to be a good addition... however IMO we live in a country with not many theme parks or rides and their is a vast selection out there and this year we will now have 3 DiskO's here, one at Aussie World, one at DW and one travelling one, I happened to see it at the Easter Show however did not ride it, it did have big lines though. Now while I love that Australia has these rides, We already have 2 operating, I would have loved to see a new experience come to Australia that we haven't got yet. However having said that they all seem to be coming to Australia at the same time, so maybe each company wanted one without knowing that another 2 companies were getting one as well, if thats the case they must have a good marketing team and really hit Australia hard in getting all three people to sign without the others knowing!!
-
I'm no expert but Dreamworld and Aussie World probably would have planned this at about the same time, since their arriving at about the same time! Because I could understand that they were planning this and as luck would have it Aussie World was planning one at the same time and its just a case of bad luck??!!?? Not DW seeing what Aussie World was doing and decided to do the same, at least I hope not!! I'm thinking its similiar to how WnW got Tornado and not much later WWW got the Green Room
-
So that means they're just going to have basically the same thing that Aussie World got... I'm sorry but I don't see this as a good investment, I mean now they'll just be two of the same rides 2 hours away from each other and I feel sorry for Aussie World who are trying to grow and get people to go to them with different offerings and now they have the same ride as DW but DW is a lot bigger!! So the thrill ride in Gold Rush will incorporate the chairlift station and bus station and their is a lot of work going on in there and people are saying a ride in their.... Gazza it wouldn't happen to be your ride design you put up here a few months ago?? Hell if we got that I would be extremely impressed, but I don't think that would come in the budget!! But I am intrigued now to see what the final product will be when it opens because atm Gold Rush really does need some love!!

They might be able to have tie ins with movies, cinema, entertainment places and music but they can't with radio anymore since they just/about to sell their stake in Austereo.
-
Well nothing about capacity, Saw has nothing about it on rcdb, but on wikipedia... I know reliable right? It says it can take 1300 per hour http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAW_–_The_Ride While Mystery Mine on rcdb says it can take 1000 per hours http://www.rcdb.com/3609.htm Obviously though they state these capacities as maximum capacities and don't usually hit this number, I can't say I've never seen one of these in operation but that's what they claim and if it can go close to it, it would definitely be a win for DW in terms of capacity.
-
China hey... either they might be looking to expand their music and film industry over there or maybe their entertainment companies cinemas, Intencity or theme parks? Other than that though it didn't say they would be using the money to pay off debt or investing into the parks they currently have.
-
I think if we saw one like Mystery Mine at Dollywood or Saw the ride at Thorpe park I would be pretty impressed, well I would be very impressed, plus they both have a capacity of around 1000 people per hour which would be great for DW.
-
As long as it has good theming to it and fits its area and not something just slapped down, and that goes for both rides, It does appear that DW have been making an effort. (has anyone checked out the lion exhibit area yet?) Is there enough room for a Euro Fighter? Obliviously with being at the very edge of the park they want the public to see it when driving along the M1.
-
Maybe the thrill ride could be an Intamin ZacSpin... I mean SFMM is getting one and DW seems to follow pretty closely to them. I'm interested in what one of the other threads said in turning the park into several different parks... they must be planning to grow quite rapidly to split off into several different parks! I wonder if we'll see resort and citywalk style area come with it! As for the kiddie rideI have no idea but if it new, I hope Dora get replaced soon, you can't have one ride broken so just put a new one near it to fix it! but when you say coaster, is that coaster for the thrill ride, or kiddie ride??

Also Village owns 52% of the Austero network, you know Triple M, B105, 2DayFm and Southern Cross Media, SeaFm, GoldFm (which I think is actually owned by Macquarie?) just put in a bid to buy ALL of the Austero network and Village have already said they are going to accept the offer. This is the second thing the company has recently sold off, with the other being Sydney Attraction Group. I'm just wondering if this will shrink their debt and if we'll see any money injected into the parks.

I know our parks will never be as cheap as the big chains, but as you said djrappa they should offer good quality. I remember some years ago the food quality was good and prices were high but they weren't rude and they offered options. Now granted I haven't been to the parks for a while, nor ordered food from their in much longer but when I ordered I noticed there wasn't as much on offer as their use to be, drinks were put on as an extra and not part of the meal deal and the only drink size I could get was a Large and when I asked did they have smaller size's they told me they didn't stock them anymore, I'm not sure if they still offer the kiddie size? And prices had gone up significantly, not just a small rise. I haven't seen the new Gotham City Cafe, has the menu or offering changed since its refurb. merchandise doesn't interest me, but for people who make the trek up once a year and would generally buy something, they aren't going to buy the same thing they saw last year and bought last year. I agree no company has been able to replicate the brand loyalty of Disney, but Looney Tunes and Batman has always proven to be popular, instead of Mickey ears, maybe Bugs ears? The whole VIP issue is interesting and I'm interested to see if they offer the pass again come June and if they tweak it or leave it as is.
-
The majority of our family has the VIP pass, now not one person in that family eats at the park, when they go to WBMW they all get a stamp out, go across the road eat at Macca's or KFC and then come back for the afternoon and they do the same if their at WnW and when their at SW they go to the Macca's at Marina Mirage. We all have a bad taste in our mouth after getting charged too much for food at the park and then eating it and feeling very ripped off at the poor quality. Three people, granted two of them were kids, went to Macca's and spent as much as what one meal at MW cost. We one day went in a big group to the parks and taking friends with us and guess what our family did... don't eat here go across to Macca's its a lot cheaper and so now word spread with them and whole large group left the park, and those people now do the same, my friends don't eat at the park anymore, they go across the road and every time we're getting a stamp out so is a lot of other people and sure enough a couple of minutes later they're ordering across the road with you. What I want is for someone in management to realise this and offer a better tasting, more competitive option at the park and then advertise this heavily to say to customers 'our product has changed, give it another go' Also with merchandise a great example of catering to the crowds was during the DC parade everyone was cramming into the stores to buy superhero merchandise before the parade such as capes and then wearing them during the parade and thats more of what the parks needs to get into to sell more and keep them open. With the parks shorting hours, I've never got it, we've had these hours for how many years and they've never changed, only got shorter, while other parks around the world extend their hours. I've always thought of great marketing campaign it would be to say, hey look we're the only park to open longer than our competition so if you come to us over them then you'll get a longer day and more value for your money. I've always thought it would be a great selling point especially for people who say were undecided between MW and DW, this could be the tipping point and its something I think that WnW haven't pushed enough in summer. Its clear from TPR being here that we really do have excellent parks and that sometimes we can be a little harsh maybe because we're always at them and can notice the small things, but we really I would say we have world class parks and definitely world class attractions, with SE and Dolphin Cove, which i always thought was better than just a tank. But nobody wants to see reductions when its operated as such for so many years, especially when their seeing more people then ever come through the turnstiles.
-
But isn't that 3 rides? And really with BT gone that only leave Sea Viper, the kids area the monorail and skyway and a adventure playground. I guess they are trying to push the people to see the animals first, but I could see some guests upset that they couldn't get to do what they want when they want, after-all when you pay $70 to get in you expect to be all up and running and I'm guessing this would leave some guests unsatisfied which not good for the park, company or the return rate of these guests.
-
Another thing, I haven't bothered checking this anywhere else, but according to Wikipedia its Sea Worlds 40th birthday and next year it will be 40 years since they've traded under the name Sea World... so does this mean we could see them getting something as well?? Just checked the MyFun website it is 40 years since they've been at their current location and 39 years since they've operated under the Sea World name and their history page at the beggining still says the Ski Show exists.

I voted for wood, I've never ridden one and I think the Gold Coast has enough Steel, I would really love to try one and see the Gold Coast have one itself! I can't say what my favourite woodie is because I've never ridden one, but you can definitely maintain to a high standard, you only have to look at Busch Gardens and what they did with Gwazi only recently. They re-tracked most of the coaster and gave it new trains and now the feedback I've heard is that its smoother than ever.

^^ Didn't Magic Mountain come out and say that both sides WILL be upgraded and BOTH will run backwards, like our TOT2? Not one and then the other.

Wait is Aussie World still owned by WVTP or did they sell it off when they decided not to go through with the water park?
