2009.. My prediction for what's in stall..
Original replied to MickeyD's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Driving past MW the other day there is now some temporary fencing in the car park, anyone know what this is for. Also the parks billboard by the M1 is now gone. -
Well it could work if the parks didn't want to handle Food and Beverages and just lease the space out to the companies such as McDonald's, therefore less hassle, less management for. But you get all the money for it.

Why is everyone hating dreamworld?
Original replied to JD_bunnies_supporter's topic in Theme Park Discussion
It's not all about the rides. The shows that SeaWorld has Imagine, The Seal Show, Seaseme Bach, Ski Show. The exhibts and the upkeep to keep them looking top notch Polar Bear Shore, Shark Bay, Penguin Point, Ray Reef The Aquariam, (I will say i already the duegon discovery and I hope the seals return soon). The prices of things such as food and souvieners. (All WVTP although food is expensive at a theme park its nothing compared to Dreamworld's price's which I find just plain rude, if I didn't have a pass I'd take my own lunch it's that much The Children's Area (Which has been kept in good condition, unlike Nick Central) The buildings, they havn't been painted bright colours that at first hurt your eyes and dont suit the theme then quickly fade to ugly eyesores. The staff, yes not all WVTP staff are perfect, that's hard to come across believe me, but they seem to be that just more friendly and efficent especially on rides. The rides, while not as thrilling as DW's yes, but it is a family park and I can have as just as much fun on them as DW, its a different type of fun. Not only that themeing is also done well, just look at Bermuda Triangle and Jet Rescue, yes not as much as some people want, but it is much better than MDMC as I'm sure as most people would agree. They also add rides that very enjoyable, unlike DW's last ride. But they are also maintained to a high standard, look at how long Corkscrew has been in operation, it still hasn't missed a beat apart from unexpected things, such as the incident over christmas. But that's life, look at Jet Rescue something unexpected, nothing to do SW. Corksrcew is still very smooth and still much more enjoyable than DW's coaster Cyclone. I could write even more examples as long as my arm as to why SW is far superior to DW as I'm sure other member could. The simple answer is at the end of the day at when I leave SW I feel I have had a far better and more enjoyable day, like I got more for my money. Unlike how i feel when I leave DW. But hey you have your opinion and I have mine, as would other people here. But I just feel SW is better than DW and that's why!!! -
Well then I would say that the hydraulic launch is a a more amazing invention then Q-Bot. While yes you are queing like everyone else, you are able to maybe have lunch, go on a few extra rides, this is therefore is unfair to the people who actually waited in line, Q4U holders are getiing on more ridesb than the average person like Richard said. What about people who wanted buy one but are sold, or people who don't have a lot of money, they have saved up everything to go, only not to get the most out of their day becasue someone paid money they don't have to get more rides than them. The thing is DW have low capacity rides and most staff their make no effort to at least load the rides as fast as possible unlike WVTP staff!

Yes unfortunatley. It is broken, but they are working hard to get back up and running even if you might not see it, they are. By the way rode it a couple of weeks ago and thought it was an awesome experience. A couple of things though I think the station and area around could be themed better like Gazza said and the outside of the tunnel. I also had an idea that it would be really cool if the rockpools as you go around them water shoots up. Kinda like on Maverick, I just thought it would be really cool to add to the ride experience. But other than that it was an awesome experience and recomend to everyone. Just hopefully SW can fix it up and get it back running soon.

Terror Canyon is always its been down so much for a couple of years now. I havn't been on it in ages in fact years because everytime I went it was closed. But still it would have been nice to have it open for the busiest crowds of the year. I went to the park last Monday. I was disppointed about the two jetstreams closed that would have made the line move a lot quicker. I'll the lifeguards their due though they made the line move fast, they got people on and down as fast as they could, cant say the same for ride operator's at DW. Surfrider was closed in the morning but they had mechanics on it and by around midday it was running, once again staff moved quickly to move the lines. But there was no water, it was disppointing becasue I took my friend and it was their first ride on it and told them how good it was with water. When I asked staff she said it was becuase elctricity and water dont mix. Still a great ride though I will say the sidewinder their was a real grumpy lifeguard on it, he was yelling at everyone, even people who were doing the right thing, buit confused about it a bit he would go off at them. You could hear him still yelling at the top of the jetsream when he was below on sidewinder.

Wet'n'Wild also has the same boards. Except when I was there Monday they never had any magnets on them displaying wait times. They were just left empty.

Well I no longer have the article, but it was in 'The Gold Coast Bulletin' yesterday and it really really praised the parks. It was a couple of pages after the 'Jet Rescue' article. It alked about how the Gold Coast would not be the same without the theme parks and how tourism is to thank for them. But then it talked about possible theme parks in Sunshine Coast and Melbourne. It said we as the Gold Coast need to step up. We need to give these parks more support and let them do things they normally aren't allowed to do. That they should really push how great they are and add more rides with tourism about to slump next year they really need to do this so people come here and it said we need more theme parks and some are already on the way. i.e the park from New York. It just got me thinking, it's the people's fault for moving in they should just put up with it. We need the parks to have longer hours, they'll make more money out of it. People will have to buy dinner. After all as the article said we are thank the parks, not hate them!! By the way in other article yesterday or something it looks like the Ferris Wheel in Surfers will be open soon.
-
I personally think the parks should always have extended hours especially in busy times. 9am till 6.30pm or something like that and advertise to the public.
-
Sorry I didn't even see that. I didn't think anybody had put anything up about it. It was a busy time for me around the 23rd with work and it being nearly christmas and all. Still this is a very good result for Movie World. This shows just how much our Aussie parks can really pack a punch.
-
Well the results are in again for the world's top coaster's. SE came in at 29th. Not bad for a coaster thats a couple years old now. http://www.ushsho.com/detailedsteelrollerc...results2008.htm
-
Anyway... back on topic. I thought the new show was only done for 10 million dollars??? The advertisement I just saw on T.V said the 36million dollar makeover is complete!!!
-
When you look at that wait time board it looks like there is no line up for lethal Weapon. I think this clearly points out to WVTP that something needs to be done to the ear and headbashing trains. I don't know say maybe buying the new train designs off Vekoma. From what I've heard they make the ride very smooth and put it in the same class as B&M. It's something I'd look into. If they can do it with Scooby then why not LW?

White Water World and Wet'n'Wild are the same thing to vote for.

So can we have the link? Please!!!

Dreamworld to get virtual queuing in two weeks time
Original replied to glennborthwick's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yayy. Moto coaster and TOT their promoting two of the worst run rides in the park. These rides could be better run if staff would just stop talking to each other I went their the other day and seriously nothing has changed. These Q-Bots will be worse if the staff don't learn about customer experience work mate chatting. There are some excellent staff there, yes. I'm sure the people on here who work at Dreamworld are great. But to some its a job, who cares what the public think, its not my business or money. DW need to pick up operation before even thinking about this system or it will be a dismal failure. Easiest way to fix this, tell the staff to stop talking and run the ride. I'm sorry, I know I'm ranting but I'm just sick of it, especially in this heat. -
It has affected Centro and ABC and they all went on big spending sprees to. Well I have no idea who was sacked that was something they didn't say, I just assumed it would be the junior holiday workers or something.
-
Channel nine had a field day with this tonight. They really shot down WVTP, they even did a live broadcast from outside Seaworld. I think it was pretty slack what channel 9 did they made a huge deal over 40 people loosing their jobs. Yet when they sacked heaps of their they didn't do this. I'd be careful all staff on here with something to say about this because nine said all staff speaking out about this will be fired. I wonder if this has come from the new COO and they are being very secretive about all this. Although I thought this may happen though the company has been on a spending spree and with the economic crisis it may be hurting them. Who knows, Disney is. I understand this has to happen, it is terrible, but no one is immune from what's happening financially. But I feel the media have been way to harsh about all this.

Dreamworld to get virtual queuing in two weeks time
Original replied to glennborthwick's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I don't think it matter's about getting more ride operators. I think the main thing is that management need to teach the operators how to work effiecently. Every time I go to the park the staff on rides just sit there and talk to each other forever while the ride is empty even when the lines are long and as customers get really annoyed they do not load the ride or hurry and get the ride going until they have finished their conversation. -
If it hasn't been oficially released to the public yet why is the MW billboard advertising the new atrraction on the M1 and the website advertising the attraction??? This sounds to me like it has been released to the public seeing as so many cars drive past that billboard a day!!!

I completely hate this direction that Dreamworld is taking, and I don't know wether DW have noticed either but all of friends who had passes to the park for years have stopped renewing theirs and I'm not renewing this year because their is just nothing new at the park. Everyone is sick of the same rides, instead their business is lost to WnW becasue everyone is getting passes to that park because there's so much to do and their always getting new rides. People are just sick of the same rides they have been riding for ever and how long it takes to get on rides. Seriously DW has some horrible ride lines. The two water rides are always packed and the lines move so slowly. TOT is always long and breaks down. GD is always long. Cyclone is horrible, all it needs is a second train like WVTP has on their coasters. People are just sick and tired of the same rides they have ridden since 2004, you can't count mick doohan. Everyone who has done it and think's its the worst ride, not just us. Expensive food, its just ridicilous and souveiners and upcharge attractions. The only one that people really pay for is Flowrider. I have family who took their kids with their and remember the good old days and hadn't been since GD opened and said they would never go agian, it was just a rip-off. They said it looked cheap and tacky with the fading bright colours and half of Nick was closed so their kids couldn't go on anything. DW really need to listen what everyone is saying its not just people on these forums before we see a Six Flags on our hands

Christmas Eve day is the quietest in my experience there is absolutley no one in the park even the days leading up to christmas eve. The theme park sites can help ypu with the days their closed but yes over this period Christmas Day is the only day there closed. Boxing Day and New Years would be the busiest and the period between boxing day, New Years and the weeks after this are very busy as well. So your best time to visit the parks is before Christmas Day.

Surfrider to close during colder months
Original replied to ShadowXL's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I was there the weekend of the Indy and it was supposed to be opened, but it was closed th whole day. The operators said they thought and hoped it would be open soon but it wasn't. There were maintence crews over it all day. A couple of days later there was a crane on the surfrider when I drove past wet'n'wild. So it sounds like its having some problems lately. -
Doc brown was banned??? That's why I hadn't heard from him lately!!! I didn't think he would lay down die like he had since he was carrying like he was!!!

I just wish it was going to launch a little faster than 70km. Oh well I still can't wait to see the finished product!!! The themeing will be great. The ride will really put sea world back on the map
