Another attraction for this year... could this be using The Lair for tigers?
-
It seems that Sea World are putting in a bit more effort for Jet Stunt Extreme this time. The show starting in September appears to include a rail slide and a pretty steep ramp (pictured below) which should allow them to get a lot of air. I enjoyed the show when it was on trial last summer and I am sure that these additions will provide an even better, more rounded show. http://www.facebook....113925015375073 Also, with Pirates Unleashed cancelled, is Jet Stunt Extreme going to become a permanent show or just a holiday thing?

Just to bring back a post from earlier in the thread...

The ride will be opening on 17 September so you will probably miss out. Also, here is the backstory for the coaster and some concept art: Hopefully this story will be heavily integrated into the ride's themeing.

Woops. I forgot about the Disney parks for the moment after all the announcements in the last 2 weeks. Just to expand on what keadz said I've dug up some information on them. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train will feature a first-of-its kind ride system with a train of ride vehicles that swing back and forth as they move along the track. It will be an indoor/outdoor ride designed for families. This is part of the Fantasyland expansion at the Magic Kingdom park in Walt Disney World. The rest of the expansion will include the duplication of the Dumbo elephant ride, addition of a Little Mermaid dark ride as well as the retheming of a few others. Cars Land Part of the Disney California Adventure Park $1.1 billion makeover, Cars Land is set to add one of (if not the) most expensive amusement rides ever built. Costing $200 million, Radiator Springs Racers will be similar to Test Track at Epcot. Another two rides and a series of other smaller attractions and shops will complete the new 12 acre themed area. Hong Kong Disneyland The original theme park that opened in 2005 wasn't enough so Disney is adding a further 3 themed areas over the next 3 years. Toy Story Playland (opened last year at Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris), Grizzly Trail (gold mining town with coaster which is essentially a cross between Big Thunder Mountain and Expedition Everest) and Mystic Point (will feature a Haunted Mansion clone).

While we are all waiting for the official announcement from Movie World about their 2011 addition (expected to open just 4 months), I thought I'd put together a bit of a summary of what some international parks are getting in 2012 (all are expected to open between 7 and 9 months from now). As more announcements come over the next few weeks I'll update this thread with the info. For now though, I'd like to see what everyone else things of the announcements thus far... Leviathan What type of roller coaster does a theme park get if they've already got a B&M Hyper standing at 70m tall? A taller and faster one of course! Leviathan was announced yesterday to be the 23m taller cousin to Behemoth at Canada's Wonderland. It will be B&Ms tallest roller coaster and first giga coaster (i.e. over 300ft / ~91.5m). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fx0BZKwTZMc Mammoth Nate mentioned it in 2 weeks ago but I'd thought I'd include it here anyway. Going with the theme that bigger is better, Holiday World announced a second ProSlide Hyrdomagnetic Rocket which will be the longest in the world (taking the title from their 4 seater rocket Wildebeest). Not only will it be longer but it will include new CloverWheel rafts (kind of like the CloverLeaf rafts) which seat 6. The Swarm Set to be the world's second B&M Wing Rider, The Swarm will open at Thorpe Park in March 2012. Wing Riders basically have all the seating in a floorless style on either side of the track. It was originally codenamed LC12. Some images of the layout were posted at the start of this year by Gazza As he stated in that post the ride will do a inline twist before entering into a large half loop. Looks like it will definitely be an interesting one with some great themeing. Skyrush Intamin's latest offering at Hersheypark will open by May. In a first for Intamin, the company has opted for 4 across seating with 2 seats above the track and a single floorless seat on either side of the track. The park's had an elaborate viral marketing campaign running since October last year regarding this attraction. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufRbnqifrqE Just finally I thought I would mention that it looks like Six Flags might be restarting their ride rotation program which has been defunct since the early 90s. They have already announced the closure of B&M stand-up Iron Wolf at Six Flags Great America with rumours suggesting it could be relocated to Six Flags America. It also looks like Deja Vu at Six Flags Magic Mountain might be relocated to Six Flags New England.

Pirates Unleashed has ceased. Their last show was on 20 July which says to me they were on a 2 year contract (exact 2 years to the day that the ski show finished). I doubt it would be moved back to its original spot anytime soon. It is probably being moored near the back of the ski lake opposite Sesame Street Beach for the time being (see left hand side in this pic from 2 years ago).

Super 8 Aqua Racer Temporary Closure
themeparkgc replied to Jamberoo Fan's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I don't think this should be looked into too much. It looks like it is just for the maintenance for AquaLoop. It does say Aqua Racer will be closed for intermittent periods and that would fit with them doing work on the left two loops which partially overhang the Aqua Racer. After noticing this though, is there something really wrong with the AquaLoops? They are closed for 5.5 weeks before being closed again for another 2.5 weeks. 2 months worth of maintenance seems like a lot. The situation is worse with SurfRider. It has been closed since 23 May and isn't expected to reopen until 17 September - more than 4 months of maintenance! -
Construction of the ride seems to be at the same point in the photos above. I did notice that the Old Time Photos outlet has been relocated to a space opposite the entrance for Thunder River Rapids. I would think the building previously used for Old Time photos will be a merchandise shop/exit path for BuzzSaw (with the queue being in the path between that building and the annual pass centre).

That's what I was thinking. I'd like to see this, or a set of duelling master blasters for Wet'n'Wild sometime in the future. Seems a little strange that the same park opened the world's longest water coaster last year, Wildebeest, only to break their own record. I guess the installation must have been really popular so they've decided to build a larger duplicate (Wildebeest seats only 4, while Mammoth will seat 6 in new Clover Wheel tubes).

Found this online ... good job WhiteWater World

Considering Six Flags sold a heap of their parks, filed for bankruptcy, and removed almost all licensed themeing to cut back on costs, I doubt we'd see them open a new park anywhere in the foreseeable future. As for Cedar Fair - I doubt it also.

Sorry for taking your work Gazza but I was interested myself so I decided to do it... I had a look around and I don't think there's any satellite imagery of any of the El Locos that have been built. Also since we don't know what model it is going to be this may not be true. I've plotted the size of the largest footprint listed on the S&S website. Here's a mirror of Bizarro...

I think the new title is very suitable considering the ride's type.

Bermuda Triangle is officially closed... Now what?

It seems the Research Probes have gone for a journey along the motorway this morning... http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=229034607130060&set=a.229034560463398.63550.228782990488555&type=1 -
Maybe they were going to build the coaster as part of that mentioned on here last year. That was expected to be located where Wyncenuros thought the coaster would be and I think that the plans for that were rejected by the council. Just a thought...

It looks like this will definitely be just the XT150 (standard model). The footings are only in line with the tower that's already been partially constructed.

Noel's been quick and removed those points from his profile.

You've also got the railway, Rocky Hollow and Vintage Cars which all opened 30 years ago.

Noel Dempsey Dreamworld CEO Resigns

^ I think the point he was making is we definitely know about the Maurer coaster for September. Prior to this article, any information about the "Summer Surprise" or attractions to open after the September coaster was just purely speculation. The article uses plural for the words "rides" and "parks" so I wonder what we'll see for WhiteWater World. -

The B&M Flyer Tax? Tatsu was only US$21 million so if we get a gold coin donation from every Australian we'd easily get one. -
Six Flags Magic Mountain review and pics

The area where these are is being rethemed into the DC Universe with Atom Smasher becoming "Flash: Speed Force" and Grinder Gearworks becoming "Wonder Woman: Lasso of Truth". Both are due to open with Green Lantern today. This was actually just installed this year. It came from It was one of only two rides to be rescued from the park (the other being a Batman: The Ride clone which went to another Six Flags park). -
Alex, it was something along the lines of this: Can't be sure of the exact wording, but it had that meaning. The hint to this has been out there for quite a while:

They were both $99 last year for 12 months (with DW offering an extra month if you bought online). The VIP passes this year are $109 for the standard one (the $99 price you are seeing is the upgrade price for those who had one last year) and $139 for the gold pass ($129 for upgrade). Also, just regarding this comment, Movie World had over 10,000 guests that day - biggest since Christmas. http://www.goldcoast.com.au/article/2011/06/27/327735_gold-coast-news.html
