  1. Or you could fill the lake and build over it. Or you could expand around the lake without filling it. This was going to be my idea for the Parkz Creative Genius challenge but I never got a chance to think it all out. It was going to be a separate themed area. I'd move the queue for Batwing around the other side so that the current Batman area could be rethemed. New queue for Batwing Themed restaurant Flying roller coaster station (coaster would have a couple of horseshoes, pretzel loop, 2 corkscrews and a couple of helices) New indoor ride Shop Shop Shop
  2. Lscia8, did you read the post above you stating:
  3. I think it could be just a peak thing, but I'm not sure. I've had a go at Dreamworld's when it was a full wave during park operations and it was definitely better.
  4. I had an idea as to why WnW's may look smaller when you're there. Their divider down the centre is quite a large inflatable one as opposed to Dreamworld's thin elastic-style one.
  5. Just a bit of information from the database I thought I'd point out...
  6. I don't think they do, but it would be nice courtesy. They could put it alongside the wet weather boards.
  7. I'm not sure, but I think the staff trained for the River Ride, are also trained for Batman and JTTCOTE. When its not a peak period a reduced number of staff are employed. Rather than having bare minimum operators on each ride operating them for a full day, they could operate the rides alternately with a saving of a few employees. For example, bare operations of the River Ride would be 3: 1 pre-show, 1 load, 1 unload. If they have a second operator on pre-show, guests will get put through faster. These 4 operators could then move over to Batman and operate maybe half of the simulators. I don't particularly have any problems with it as long as Movie World tell you as you are heading in - either on map or showtimes leaflet.
  8. That's quite common practice for both it and Batman Adventure to have alternating operations in non-peak periods.
  9. Spider-Man is Marvel not DC. I don't think we'll be seeing anything Marvel since Disney bought the license to it off Universal about a year ago.
  10. Whilst I do not support the removal of both of these dark rides, I do think that they either needed a major overhaul (6mth+) or to be replaced completely. Last time I went on the River Ride, the tree was in a suspended falling state and did not move from its diagonal position; the rock didn't move; Road Runner was visible in two locations at once (because one didn't move down far enough out of sight) and some animatronic characters were completely still (where they were previously animated eg. croc). To add to that we had an attraction presenter who barely knew his lines and presented them in monotone with no enthusiasm whatsoever. Spencer, I wouldn't class the attraction I experienced recently as the same one that opened 20 years ago. If it had been maintained and staffed well, then I'm sure I'd be against its closure. Hopefully both parks will receive replacement dark rides that have high quality themeing like what we've seen from Castaway Bay.
  11. Dreamworld have taken a leaf out of Disney's book and have filmed a tilt-shift video:
  12. Calypso Beach definitely does shut at 6pm, not sure about Buccaneer Bay though. You only have two days to go though - Dive in Movies finish this Saturday. http://wetnwild.myfun.com.au/en/Attraction...e-n-Movies.aspx
  13. WnW 2010: Aqua Loop, Flowrider, Zipline, Skycoaster
  14. I just found a video of the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gf6FRpB3KQ. Also I've just transferred some 1999 clips from VHS to digital and I have just uploaded them to YouTube. I think I may have some clips from the Western Action Show but I have to find the VHS which has it on it. Enjoy...
  15. Some videos: Gremlins Adventure Scooby-Doo Disco Detectives http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiMVCDeW3UM, Shrek Live http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=if1q_RmKehw,
  16. I think we'll definitely being seeing several rides in the next three years with something on offer for all age groups and thrill groups if you like (gentle, family, thrill etc). The capital expenditure plan that Ardent announced last year to "strengthen ride inventory and consumer appeal" definitely hints at this. Here's some ideas I've been thinking Dreamworld might pursue in addition to a thrilling Intamin (or B&M ) coaster (a thrilling coaster with inversions is pretty much certain). For Wiggles' World revamped Dora planes (or similar new ride system) to become the Big Red Planes. For Nick Central a Zamperla Disk'O could fit running parallel to Ocean Parade running alongside the carousel where the chalk zone (I think they call it is now) - operate as Avatar Airbender. An Intamin Children's Parachute Tower could fit in the former location of Dora and be themed to Plankton from SpongeBob with the parachutes as Jellyfish - Plankton Plunge. Also if they do expand into another themed area and if they had kept the Vortex (which I think someone said that they did) then I wouldn't be surprised if this ride made a return. (I noticed that the Vortex could also fit in Nick Central where the fountains are, but those fountains have recently become operational again with the Tower of Terror building being opened up - I now can't see it going in there as Jimmy Neutron ride.)
  17. Intamins are generally what we've seen in the past for the Australian parks. Tower of Terror, Giant Drop, The Claw, Motocoaster, Thunder River Rapids, Superman Escape, Surfrider and Jet Rescue were all Intamin. I'm sure some of the smaller rides are but they're just the main ones. Also Joz said so
  18. Linus, it is already 2011 so it sounds like more than one ride coming this year. A thrill ride to add to the Big 6 has been in discussions since at least December 2009 when the Gold Coast Bulletin reported it. I hope they add the coaster and another ride in the Blue Lagoon area and theme both to a high standard. I can't stop thinking about a coaster Eureka Mountain 2: The Forbidden Shaft. Hopefully Gold Rush will get some attention though. I'm not sure if its getting replaced or extensive repairs but Dora's Seaplanes in Nick Central has been removed so I wouldn't be surprised if a Children's Parachute Tower or other similar kids ride is installed as a replacement.
  19. According to Wikipedia an IMAX screen may be between 22 × 16.1 m and 35.73 × 29.42 m. I don't know where Dreamworld's screen sat in that range but the current cinema screen is 21 x 11 m.
  20. Curse of Skull Rock is shown several times throughout the day and is included in admission. The 11am screening of Megamind is at a discounted rate of $12. Session after 4.15pm are $15 for adults and $12 for children regardless of whether you've been in the park or not (no park admission required). Sourced from the Gold Coast Bulletin article below:
