WnW 2010: Aqua Loop, Flowrider, Zipline, Skycoaster
themeparkgc replied to Intamin's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I wonder if they'll just get a copy of Dreamworld's Double FlowRider or if they will get multiple ones to cater for a higher crowd. Another question is whether it will be an upcharge or not. Gazza, did it actually picture a Flowrider or did it just say Endless Wave. If it just said Endless Wave, then there is a possibility of it being something a bit different: a FlowBarrel. -
Sea World 2010 (Castaway Bay & Antarctic Penguins)

^ My copy doesn't have the promotional sleeve. I think the copy that you picked up was one of the ones they give away at the theme parks. I know in the past I've had free Courier Mails and Sunday Mails from DW and WWW (each with DW and WWW upgrade advertising), so I am guessing WVTP are doing the same with the Gold Coast Bulletin. I'll rephrase the question. Did any other locals get yesterday's Gold Coast Bulletin from one of the theme parks? -

What will get you back into the parks?
themeparkgc replied to aussienetman's topic in Theme Park Discussion
^ A new big coaster would be great, but I think DW wouldn't have enough space (now that they sold off a heap of land) and I think MW would have noise complaints if they built coaster further out than LW (closer to the homes). Rather than add anything new within the next year, I would rather the Gold Coast parks invest some money into maintaining their current attractions like DW is doing with the Tower of Terror. Everyone knows about the state of Bermuda Triangle and how much it needs to be fixed. -
Randy, is MW really going to replace 3 of their rides in the next two years? I mean in the past week you have said: Shrek will be replaced Lethal Weapon will be replaced And now the River Ride will be replaced. This is pretty big plans for a park. I'm thinking that all could be replaced at some stage, but not necessarily in the suggested time frame.

Sea World 2010 (Castaway Bay & Antarctic Penguins)

^ I just noticed Zoe’s Sub Splash at Sesame Street Beach will be closed for until September 12 also... mmmnn... -
Dreamworld's Illuminate on steroids = Disney's World of Color.

^ It's funny how Dreamworld Parkway still runs through the Cyclone and WhiteWater World on that map. It's only been 9 years...

Firstly, by two parks, do you mean two days? My post is assuming you mean 2 days. If it were me I'd probably grab one of the DW/WWW $69 World Passes valid for unlimited entry until Christmas (see article, cheaper than standard daily entry). I'd go to WWW for an hour or two and ride everything at least once and then head over to Dreamworld for the rest of the day and catch the new Illuminate Winter Wonderland in the evening. Then on the second day I'd do Movie World and see the DC Comics parade at night. Because your visit is after QLD school holidays end, it would be a little less crowded than if you were to come a week earlier. I am unsure about other states holidays but I am assuming they are still running for that week - hence the lack of rides on maintenance schedule. The only closures you'd find would be at Sea World (Water Park, Aquarium, Shark Attack, Zoe's Sub Splash and Skyway) and Wet'n'Wild (Whirlpool Springs, Twister, Speedcoaster, Calypso Beach and Wave Pool if visiting after the 12th). Hope this helps.

Parkz News Theme park prices staying low
themeparkgc replied to Parkz News's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I was thinking the same until I re-read the caption a few time. The first two words - "staying put" - apply to not only the passes but also Eureka. -
Just a quick question Randy, were you referring to the character or the attraction. Either way I highly doubt it also. With the new Shrek movie coming out I'd think Movie World would want to make the most out of having the license.

Sea World 2010 (Castaway Bay & Antarctic Penguins)
themeparkgc replied to themeparkgc's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Just a quick question to anyone who has gone to Sea World recently. Has demolition progressed past this level (shot was taken on 6 May)? Have they demolished the junior pools or are they still standing? Photo from NearMap. -
Laser-light MTV rave dance parties at Dreamworld

Just a bit of an update on this (if anyone is interested). Rather than conducting a separate night event, Dreamworld are going to be using the Illuminate infrastructure during Screamworld events, starting this Friday. -
WARNER BROS. MOVIE WORLD CELEBRATES DC COMICS 75TH ANNIVERSARY!
themeparkgc replied to Suhan's topic in Theme Park Discussion
^ Judging by Clint and Alex's posts, there might be some additional lighting effects for the night parade...? I just checked MW's website again and it seems the information has been updated slightly when compared with the original post. -
Just saw this on Disneyland's Wikipedia page:

Ardents latest: Illuminate & The Wedgie
themeparkgc replied to GoGoBoy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
^ The Wedgie is a definite variation of what is shown on the ProSlide website. If you have a look at the photo below you can see the slide drops, then into a straight level portion for a bit before doing the downward spiral. The ProSlide schematics seem to show models without this (or at least a shorter) straight portion. Other than that I think the drop and spiral seem the same to me. In regards with the SkyBox, I think there may have been a clearance problem with the existing shade cloth. http://www.parkz.com.au/photo/AU/Gold_Coas...The_Wedgie.html -
^ There's not too many places it could fit. The slides are pretty big when compared to the whole complex. (I've added the slides on the right hand side across the road).
-
^ That's possible. On Theme Park Review, jedimaster1227 posted the article that the pictures were from. The interesting bit is in the last paragraph:

With the opening day approaching (June 18), a first review of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter was released on News.com.au yesterday. They also included a gallery of the artist's impressions here. Actual photos can be seen on the Official Universal Website. I've also found a video which I've embedded at the bottom.

Just purely speculation, but is there any chance we could expect something up the front of Sea World this year. Both the Sea World Aquarium and Shark Attack will be closed from tomorrow. Unlike other attractions which state they are down for scheduled maintenance, these two attractions (and the water park) state they will just be closed. It just seemed odd to me consider that this was the proposed location for a Water Coaster a couple of years ago (before Jet Rescue was built). As it's just speculation, I didn't think that my post justifies a new topic.

It's good to see what you have done with this Richard. It reminds me of the galleries that you used to load up on Roller-Coaster. Also great captions.
