  1. The Vortex (Gravatron as you called it) closed about this time last year to make way for AVPX. If it's a tower, hopefully it will just be located on top of the existing building as it would be sad to see AVPX go. Attached is a recent image showing the AVPX building and tent. Also the article Wet'n'Wild goes upside down to find new attraction was dated 14th December so this could have been the original plan.
  2. Attendance at the parks didn't drop probably because of their $99 Annual World Pass sales. An increase in local Queensland entries resulted in the 2.6% increase. For those that are interested the presentation is here. Just remember a family ride is what Dreamworld needs after their thrill ride 2.5 years ago
  3. Just saw this on the back of today's Bulletin and thought you might want to know. Does anyone have any more info about this?
  4. The plans are coming from the GCCC's Development Application Tracking website. The ride was lodged as part of this WWW Application. The plans for the SuperLoop are available here. (If something comes up asking you to accept click accept and then click on these links again and it should work ). Judging by the height listed in the application it will most likely launch from the Hydrocoaster platform. It will definitely 'loop' under the Hydrocoaster. Just on the major expansion this has appeared on WWW's Facebook a month ago. As much as I want the major expansion to happen, I doubt it will within the next two years. When they do they probably will launch each attraction a year apart. Its already been 3 years since the development application was submitted - how much longer will they wait?
  5. It's good to see that WhiteWater World have not given up. If they are opened at the same time, I wonder which park will win in the marketing department.
  6. Sorry to double post but too late to edit. Just thought I'd post some new photos and video of the park that have surfaced. Full credit goes to Zh3ng on Flickr and Bigbearsg on YouTube. Universal Globe Archway The Lost World Jurassic Park Entrance Canopy Flyer - Suspended track ride Dino Soarin' - standard circular, up & down ride Jurassic Park River Adventure (just a bit wetter than DW ) The rafts
  7. A convenience store you say...? From this HSD pic in 2008
  8. What are the chances that SW have implemented something similar? It's another bad move by WVTP. Very disappointing...
  9. ^ Sorry, I missed that. I tried embedding it but it didn't work so here is the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89zFt23AARU. If you don't speak German it must have taken you forever to translate it. Good job none the less.
  10. Thanks for the video Spencer but I've already posted it above.
  11. These tours allow entry into the park to view the scenery and buy merchandise and food. No rides will be operating. With sellout crowds I'm sure there will be some new photos surface within the next day or two. I think the whole concept of the park is really good - take the best of Universal Studios in the US and put them together in a park much like IOA. No details for the Cylon Raider (Blue, suspended) but the Human Viper Mark II (Red, seated) has a top speed of 90km/hr. For those that haven't seen it check out their new website which has loads of information about their rides, shows and attractions.
  12. Preshow: Ride: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89zFt23AARU (embedding doesn't work) Thanks to Spencer for translating both these videos.
  13. ^^ About a year ago, I worked on a recreation of SW (in RCT2) that I never got finished. I've just spent over 45mins trying to find it on old backup discs with no luck . I'd be willing to help out if you were to do it in RCT2.
  14. I'm curious as to whether "and more" included WhiteWater World and if one of their included meals will be at AOS. Other than that they pretty much have everything covered.
  15. I've recently returned from a trip to New Zealand and while I was there I visited this small adventure park called Waimarino. Is it just me or does anyone else think that some health and safety officials should check out their latest attraction - The Blob?
  16. ^ Please not another upcharge. Edit: Let alone a second rock climbing wall. A new ride is required.
  17. All the maintenance pages have been updated to what it should look like. I'm much happier now because no rides are shut when I'm visiting. Because this topic has really branched off from just MW maintenance, maybe a title change is needed.
  18. Seen as someone has already brought up Sea World, I thought I would have a look at Wet'n'Wild. Is the aqua racer being rebuilt from the ground up? 5 Months maintenance is pretty extreme. Looking at the maintenance schedule for Twister and Speedcoaster it doesn't sound like they are being removed. Is it possible that the Aqua racer could be moved elsewhere and the aqualoops be placed there instead of removing rides? These maintenance schedules really annoy me because our family was going to visit the parks in early March and all the coasters at SW are closed plus two rides at MW. Just glad I'm not going between May 3rd and May 16th 3/4 of MW's coasters are closed.
  19. I was just wondering if anyone knows how late Movie World was open over the summer holidays? This video seems to be taken at least after 6:30pm. This video was uploaded on the 9th.
  20. I'm looking forward to these photos. You've got less that 7 hours to do it though. . If you have a lot of photos you could maybe consider getting a negative scanner cheap. I've got one that works good on XP but not Vista / 7 . The other photos I've posted above have been transferred using it to give you an idea of the quality.
  21. I just hope they don't do the same thing that they have done with the Corkscrew / Sea Viper. Movie World needs a new ride, not a new ride experience.
  22. There appears to be no difference design wise just the tubing that each utilise. The Tantrum features 2 or 4 person cloverleaf tubes while the Topsy Turvy features the more traditional inline style of tubing (Temple of Huey). Other than that nothing seems to be different. I remember a couple of years ago Gazza uploaded a concept of an 'Insane H2O Zone' (a Giant Rainfortress with a couple of other rides intertwining) - unfortunately I can't find it in the forums. ProSlide appears to be offering something similar called a Ridehouse. I would love to see Gazza's concept or a Ridehouse added to the park some stage in the not too distant future as both would have a very high capacity.
  23. Just rumours but have a look at this from Theme Park Photography: MW's Lethal Weapon Ride to be Closed. If it is closed what do you guys think should go in it's place? Another ear bashing Vekoma, a B&M, Intamin?
