Bermuda Triangle is officially closed... Now what?
themeparkgc replied to reginaphalange's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Sorry about the link. It should be fixed now (the colon I put just after the URL got concatenated with it causing it to break). The mention about the rides was made in the following Gold Coast Bulletin article. There are numerous things you could pick apart with this article ("Roadshow Village Theme Parks", Shockwave is a roller coaster etc) so it may very well be attractions not rides. -
From http://myfun.com.au/big3/ : This announcement will definitely be for a new ride - confirmed in the Gold Coast Bulletin yesterday.

From http://myfun.com.au/big3/ : Also, an article in the Gold Coast Bulletin yesterday stated that both Movie World and Sea World would be getting new rides by the end of the year. If nothing has happened on the outside of the ride, I wonder if something is happening on the inside... -
I am guessing that you may have to book your tickets for the Halloween/Christmas events online using your card number (which would bypass the payment step). It would force people to book for specific nights and allow them to control guest numbers.

May 2011 - Six Flags New Orleans

Sort of. Southern Star Amusement have shown interest in redeveloping the park, however, little has been done. While I'm here I thought I'd post this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bcja8UBtXdk -
Yeah, well I assume Blues Skidoo might come back as Dreamcopters with the old carriages (if they still have them).

Confirmed. http://about.dreamworld.com.au/Media-Centre/Media-Kit/Media-Kit-Pages/Nick-Central-Where-Kids-Rule.aspx It's interesting to see that they have cancelled their contract with Nick. I'm not too fond of the generic theme though. Strange how they mentioned the Reef Diver there - I wonder if it was a mistake? Also, not mentioned in this release was the Slime Bowl is becoming the Dream Bowl and will host the Kenny Koala show and the Goldie the Clown show all year-round. Finally over at WhiteWater World Nickelodeon Pipeline Plunge has become just Pipeline Plunge.

It's even more obvious on the official website... http://www.dreamworld.com.au/Rides/Family-Rides/Shockwave.aspx

It's on 7mate (Channel 73). Thanks for the heads up. http://www.yourtv.com.au/guide/event.aspx?program_id=170360&event_id=39741104®ion_id=73

The actual measurements of the ride didn't match any of the Disk'O versions and the original DA called it a "Midi". Again, the chance of it being the coaster model was just speculation at that stage.
-
Parts have recently arrived for Shockwave - green track (as expected), orange seats and black supports. It also appears that it will be a Disk'O Coaster as one of the parts is curved in a "n" shape (rather than the "u" shape that all other parts have).
-
I admit, some themeing has been removed (evident here, here and in the background here), however at this stage I wouldn't be certain as to what is happening.

According to Dreamworld's website Blues SkiDoo was under maintenance from 30 May to the 3 June, 2011. Any themeing changes there? Also the merry-go-round was originally called "Nick-O-Round" when Nick Central first opened in 2002, but then it changed to "Backyardigans Mighty-Go-Round" a couple of years back. Are you sure you haven't just noticed this other name for the first time?

It's in the database of type coaster: http://www.parkz.com.au/parks/AU/Gold_Coast/Warner_Bros_Movie_World/rides/1478-Unknown_Ride.html

^ Has anyone looked towards that area of Sea World recently? Front-left was the proposed site of their water coaster. -
For those that are interested, Dare Devil Dive is a custom Euro-Fighter which opened at Six Flags Over Georgia recently:

The trend of sliding profits? -
From the looks of it there are +/- buttons on the bottom right corner of every post, however, when I try to vote a post up it throws back a message saying I've reached my quota of positive votes for the day.

I wonder if it was a Zamperla Convoy for the Disk'O.

Paradise Country have three trams. How many trams would have been required to run the Studio Tour back in the 90s? -

If you really wanted some video, according to Wikipedia: This would most likely just be a few short shots of it, but if you are really interested in seeing some video you could maybe try and track a copy of those down. -
I think they could have done okay if they had kept the IMAX brand and shown an IMAX feature film timed to finish just after park opening and another timed to start just after park closing. I think Dreamworld could turn the theatre into just a peak period thing.

Here's some photos taken by pin142. They show The Lair, the Disk'O construction area, the thrill ride construction area and some other general changes. http://coastermaster.com/?p=187

That was a guess not a definitive opening date.

Similar motion, but one's a coaster and the other's not. Here is a Mega Disk'O with a capacity of 600pph. The 1000pph version just has more seats (thus a larger disk).
