I remember the parade being entertaining up until about 2005. Since then it has gone downhill. I had a quick look here (screenshot below) and a lot of the floats from 2000 onwards are still there. As you pointed out there's the castle, film roll, Mr Freeze's float, the Scooby Scene, Train with cage trailer and two unidentified floats. I've attached a couple of photos from previous parades. The last photo was of part of the original Studio Tour / Special Effects Show and was definitely taken before 2005 when SE was built. I think I saw the Riddler scene sometime around 2000.

WnW 2010: Aqua Loop, Flowrider, Zipline, Skycoaster
themeparkgc replied to Intamin's topic in Theme Park Discussion
WNW have started advertising on their website but its not quite like what you had hoped for Gazza. They still don't mention an opening date or location. http://wetnwild.myfun.com.au/Park-Info/New...-UP-IN-2010.htm -
^ Sorry I missed your post Gazza. According to the favourites section in this text file, the Volare is located at a park called 'Wiener Prater'. I'd never heard of it but I thought I'd include it as it says AU in the country column and it could be in Australia. After checking the parks name on RCDB the park is in Austria and should be marked with AT instead of AU. I've sent an email to Mitch to see if he would fix it ready for next year.

The results for the 2009 Best Roller Coaster Poll are in. This is how our coasters were ranked. Full results can be found here for steel coasters and here for wood coasters. 149 Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster 197 Surf Rider* 216 Tower of Terror 249 Turbo Mountain* 257 Eureka Mountain Mine Ride* (Believe it or not it is still included) 315 Corkscrew / Sea Viper 319 Silly Serpent* 329 Cyclone 337 Metropolis* 343 Rugrats Runaway Reptar* 346 Lethal Weapon - The Ride* 358 Diamond Python**based on grouped rankings Both Mick Doohans Motocoaster & Superman Escape appeared in a section titled "Winning percentages of those coasters on fewer than 10 ballots" and were not given a rank. This is understandable for MDMC, but for SE? I had a look at the ballot and Jet Rescue was not included this year. It was however mentioned as a late entry and will be included in the 2010 ballots. It had "too few riders take the poll to have any valid comparisons this year". Outside Australia, the number one steel coaster was and the number one wood coaster was http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQfTykPAQFs. Edit: Removed Volare

^ I think BB used them in the first year of the friday night games (2004-05 i think). Unless the segways used on BB were hired, I think you might be right about DW acquiring them. There would of been at least two of them for BB.

Sea World ski stars sunk by pirates
themeparkgc replied to New display name's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The show opened on Boxing Day (correct me if I am wrong). I'm thinking they may not be advertising it because it may still be below a satisfactory standard. They may have opened the show for the holidays just to soak the crowds and it may require more work later. The show has a page on Sea World's website but it is not on Sea World's home page alongside the Sea Viper. -
^ either option would work just fine.
-
But then the times just got wiped off so it was pointless anyway. Electronic boards would work much better but obviously the cost would be greater.

Seems to be a lot like what they have on offer at Disney's California Adventure and Epcot. I wonder whether they will / could extend it a bit further than just the train line and take it around the park before it opens (like DCA). I'd probably have a go if it weren't for the price.

This morning a Gold Coast Bulletin article revealed a lot as to what is in store next year at the parks. Now we already know that WNW is getting 4 aqua loops but this article starts some rumours about the other parks as well as some more information about WNW. The aqua loops are set to open by September and feature a smaller sized aqua loop. They claim Movie World will host a white christmas, Sea World will open a water related kids attraction (for kids aged between 5 and 12), Dreamworld will 'relaunch' one of their Big 6 in July & add another multimillion dollar attraction to add to the Big 6 and WhiteWater World will look at completing Phase 2 (actually 3) expansion. I thought I'd put up a series of polls to see what everyone thinks. http://www.goldcoast.com.au/article/2009/1...coast-news.html A second article accompanies the first but unfortunately is not online (as of yet) so I decided to type the first bit. Ashley Irvine (ash.1111 on these forums) was interviewed. The rest of the article speaks about the new Narnia Studio tour, MTV plugs in as well as Kasey Chambers and Sam Clark performing at WNW and MW over the holidays. So what do you guys think?

The video's on the Sunrise Website. Hopefully this will start a new trend studio tours for MW. Studio tours are the basis of movie parks after all.
-
The video of Sea Viper and Jet Rescue is now online on the Sunrise Website. There are also a collection of videos showcasing the marine animals at SW.

I agree with you there but the point I was trying to make is it seems like they are finding a brand before a ride - limiting the possibilities of a new ride immensely.
-
After reviewing a quick video that I shot last night, Noel Dempsey came on to the stage before the show and said: Sadly, I think this definitely shows what DW is aiming for: the incorporation of brands into everything they have: Mick Doohan, V8 Supercars, AVPX, MTV. Unless you can find a brand to match a major attraction, I don't think it will happen. On a lighter note this show was better than I expected and will be a good crowd soaker over the holidays.

I saw the launch of the show last night as a Platinum World Pass holder. They have removed the catwalk that was used in Big Brother and have place a whole series of ramps on the corners of the stage. For those that remember, there is a 2nd story platform on the right hand side of the stage where a DJ is. The show is a game show of sorts where half the audience is red while the other half is blue. One person is called out from each side of the audience and represent their team for the whole show. One game was a quiz about music, the second was a race to find the letters M-T-V around the stadium and the final game was a dance competition. The three games in the show were split up by two "mini-moto stunt-men" on the ramps as well as a group of three dancers and loud music mixed by a DJ. The stuntmen do some ramp to ramp jumps as well as a couple of jumps from the 2nd story platform down to the stage. Overall I would rate what I saw about 7/10. We saw it at night which was probably a better experience due to the greater impact of lighting. If your thinking of heading to Dreamworld over the holidays you should take 30 minutes out of your day to see it. In saying that I don't see the show as a major drawcard for the park.

WnW 2010: Aqua Loop, Flowrider, Zipline, Skycoaster
themeparkgc replied to Intamin's topic in Theme Park Discussion
^I agree but there would not be enough space unless they go into the carpark. As for different locations, I just saw this on Wet'n'Wild's Facebook The only problem with this location would be space requirements. -
What I find funny is that WWW have only got one photo of their Hydrocoaster. The second shot on that page is of an installation elsewhere. Overall the website looks great but as Gazza said more images and video need to be included.

As much as I'd like it to be over by Mammoth Falls, I doubt it. At the moment I feel that Mammoth Falls is too much out of the way of all of the other rides. I believe its more likely that they will put it in the Extreme H2O Zone. -
You missed the whole Batman / Doc Brown / mrt saga late last year. Check out some of the discussions started by them on page 2 of MW here. A lot of them really went nowhere and ended in some sort of argument or the deletion or banning of a user. Spencer, I hold nothing against you and I am sure the other members would still welcome you along. As for me, I can't come on the 29th.

Those two cars appear to be the Bonnie & Clyde cars from the left side of main street. If you look here you can see a different angle and can work out the shape a bit better. As for the police cars from PASS they appear to be at the northern end of the site behind the Looney Tunes Ride. See here. It appears that they have kept two and sold the rest.

A Current Affair - 'Theme Park Heaven' segment

WWW was rated better than WnW. Here are the overall results: DW 60 WWW 58 WnW 57.25 MW 53 SW 51.5 Hopefully these results don't discourage DW from adding anything good because they got a perfect score. -
Sorry to bring back and old topic but photos have been added at Westcoaster for those that are interested.

Well according to the website its just Christmas: http://seaworld.myfun.com.au/Attractions/Rides/Sea-Viper.htm Hopefully a makeover is a little more than a new train and a coat of paint.
