  1. Dunno about Crappy Jack's but the little Japanese place over the road does some great sushi! But isn't that just the thing? There are so many food options a short distance away and some pretty good ones at that. Like so many others, I don't mind paying for convenience but the quality/quantity needs to be there. With our Parks it's just not and you only need to look at what Disney does to see that F&B can be an enormous part of a Theme Park's profitability. I dare say the Mouse makes most of it's food coin off it's biggest fans.. The Passholders
  2. Next time I visit I will take some pics of the 2nd monorail. Push would be outraged to see it's basically being used storage nowadays; piled up with tables, chairs and other junk. Probably an easy way to get junk transported from the front to the back and vice versa. Judging by the discoloration and dust inside the cabin, this Monorail has not been in service for some time.
  3. Not exactly the kind of look any business wants on their books. What's worse is it's the every day Guest - not Theme Park Enthusiast that is forming this opinion at the moment.
  4. I visited briefly today too! It was a pretty hot day on the Coast and we popped by in the afternoon for a couple of hours, hoping to cool off on Storm, which unfortunately was closed. There was a crane on site and another construction vehicle but absolutely no sign of work activity around the ride. Given the Park only currently has 1 other ride I think it's a pretty shit show unless absolutely every possible step is made to keep both rides open for Guests. I get that essential maintenance necessitates rides closed from time to time, but given the current situation at the Park it shines a light on just how unbalanced the variety is nowadays. And wow is it Hot there! SW used to always be enjoyed as the cooler Park option but these days it feels less shady and with the absence of breezy attractions like Skyway and Water rides, the air con within displays is about the only welcome relief. Some other observations.. * Absense of water fountains throughout the Park. MW has these (and chilled ones) everywhere. * Park entry looking tired and run down. A coat of paint and general refresh would go along way here. IMO the whole entry needs a complete reconfiguring. It's a hot mess. * Creatures of the Deep outdoor display remains about a third half remaining and frankly utterly pointless. There are signs of some sort of development going on toward the reclaimed area, but once you reach about as far as before the Lighthouse the area remains closed off right around to along the South of Dockside. One can only hope a new ride is in the works. * Flume ride area sits snbo and is a pretty sad reminder of a park in better days. Not that VR was much, mind you. At least it was something more than a leaf filled Flume channel and the rest of the remaining ride, left to rot and for everyone to see. * Ray Reef remains closed with no sign of activity. Again this just makes you think that very little effort is going into SW at the moment. Perhaps someone can enlighten me on this but my hunch is this attraction may have been suddenly shuttered for reasons of Public Liability? Hmm.. * New Kids water play area is obviously a smash hit with it's target demographic. As cute as it is, I just look at it and think wtf. Honestly. There are plenty of Resorts on the GC that have this kind of thing covered. Oh well, I guess it shows how simple things can give little ones a lot of joy. * If they are going to close and refurb a ride right now, the Battle boats is looking pretty shit right now. Most Targets are not working and like with so much of the rest of SW needs some love. * Don't even get me started on the Seal exhibit at the back. Many wouldn't even know it's there and frankly that's probably just as well. Forget building a new Coaster or other single major new ride, this Park needs a masterplan with a megabucks rebuild and rebrand - now more than ever. A significant repurposing that starts from the front to the back and covers everything in between. Much like DW, most of SW's infrastructure is ageing faster than they can keep up. Just like DW, only a clear plan, vision and indeed the money to back it is what will work.
  5. Optimistic at best. Actually it disappeared not long after the TRRR incident.
  6. Sorry to be pedantic but the SW Skyway was a Cable Car Push. This is a Charlift:
  7. Actually some of us have a pretty good idea of what goes on behind the scenes. Frankly near enough is just not good enough and from personal experience I know they can be doing better. And I am most definitely not alone in that opinion either.
  8. 18 months comes pretty close to being years, Mista Advocate. -especially for a nearly 2 decade old Coaster. Sure, if you want your Parks looking average at best, good luck with your optimism! Personally I want nothing but the best for my Aussie Parks. Something that current Management seems to be forgetting.
  9. ... .Arr-K . . Enough of the bullshit Village! The Fans have asked you politely, frankly for too long now and yet still u offer no answer? Wtf are U?! Disney?! Hmm... Years have passed now since disecting the flagship MW Scooby ride that's barely a Dog's breakfast of a rubbished Neighbour down the road *cough DW*. Fess up and for FS FIX the fucking ride already! Maybe someone here can shed some light @Gazza, @Richard? Wtf is happening to our once great Park? WWF closed for almost a year, Villains area falling to pieces, Kid's area forgotten, Park entry looks tired and crap, oh I can go on... Amazing how much we criticize DW and SW huh
  10. Did I miss something @joz? Surfrider relocating to SW?
  11. .. funny when nostalgic moments are brought back from the grave, the reality of it is all to often bound to disappoint. As much as we would love these things to be as magical as they were at that special moment in time, most of us would rather paint on a fake smile and do our best to hide the disappointment in actuality! Who on here went back to Disneyland as an Adult and said, 'gee I remember that Castle looking so much bigger?' I have treasured childhood memories of Magic Mountain on the Gold Coast and oh what I would give for a chance to ride the Paratower or Waveswinger over the edge of that cliff once more.. Even if I could I reckon the romance of nostalgia would be shut down by the reality of it and suddenly that treasured memory would be all but forgotten.
  12. "Until Further" notice you say SW? Hmmm.. I wonder if this is SW just being cautious to not over promise and under deliver OR it is for the full removal of VR and starting work on the new ride? Timing seems about right.
  13. ^ and those ridiculous guide channels at the SW one! I wonder if anyone ever stacked it badly on one of these Toboggan slides? NOT surprising today they are a thing of the past.. good times
  14. Wow that brush is overgrown. Despite the circumstances, the area is long overdue for a good clearing out.
  15. Was down the Coast yesterday on Business. Frankly I have not seen the place so quiet in living memory. It was like Xmas Day quiet. Totally surreal. Even the m1 was dead. They seem to have done a fantastic job of frightening everyone to stay the hell away from the place and with all the hype leading up to it, reality is that business's everywhere are now suffering. It's a pretty sad sight. Q the blame game..
  16. What a lovely sounding Disneyland, if but forever only in a dream (or half a day once a year!) Written for a West Coast Audience no doubt but the story lost all credibility sighting Perth as the spot for a future DisneyDownunder.. bahahaha No offence Perth BUT at least you have cheap flights to Universal Singapore and (allegedly) the Internet to book your flights to get there🤣
  17. Suffering a complete identity crisis, the Park continues to be soul stripped, seemingly without a care in the world. I'm absolutely loving the Longhurst interviews with @Roachie the last couple of days. Btw thank you so much for this fantastic piece of work - brilliant storytelling and I cannot wait for the next installment! Looking over this update makes me feel sad for DW and indeed for the Dream and Vision that Longhurst had for his Park. An unwavered determination and Passion that is something Ardent simply doesn't get. I hope there is a light at the end of the tunnel and the Park falls into the right hands before the dream is lost forever.
  18. Please do! I have been trying to find it online, often the case with Carni rides, hard to find on the web!
  19. ^ cool! Looks like a modern take on the Tilt'n'Wirl.
  20. According to the Movieworld webpage WWF is still rescheduled for Operation from this Saturday. Here's hoping that date doesn't get pushed back again!
  21. Thanks @RoachieLooking at the Picture above made me think of this as it looks as though Canada's Theatre has greater width for the vehicles in the existing seating area? It's been years since I set foot in the DW Theatre but I recall the screen being quite close and seating area steep? It'll be a tight fit and I am glad that DW themselves are not designing it!
