  1. ^ I'll believe it when I see it reopen.. Until then I really wouldn't be getting my hopes up. Sorry but I think Eureka has gone the way of the Thunderbolt
  2. This is a real shame. The Park has possibly lost one of it's signature attractions. We can only hope it will be replaced with something similar only much better. Dollywood's Mystery Mine came at a US$17.5million price tag. I very much doubt DW would do anything quite so extravagant but they could pull off something similar for less. http://www.rcdb.com/ig3609.htm?picture=37 This coaster has a good capacity too (around 1000 per hour) which DW most certainly needs
  3. - Yeah and how in Dreams, nothing really makes sense - just like DW's themeing :-/
  4. well we already know that PA is on the way out - with plenty of coasters up their sleeve at the moment, I'm hoping for something great (and indoors) to be built in it's a place and for the new Hotwheels show to go in over somewhere near Scooby/Lethal way
  5. Well as far fetched as it seems, the reason for the elephants and other african animals is they supposedly escaped from a travelling circus (or so the story went back then) I cannot explain the 8 foot tall T-Rex though.... SHEEESH!!
  6. ^ as predicted! It's gotta make you wonder if they will keep searching or just get rid of it all together. What I don't understand is the ride is not the original design anyway. From my recollection the track has been changed three times - Initially there were some major changes involving a complete rebuild when it when from two seat cars to four and lastly when they took out the nasty bend at the end, straightening out the track. If DW really valued the future of the Mine ride, they would consider buying a new Mack design or something similar. I guess the way they see it is that would be a substantial investment for something that could not be promoted as a new attraction
  7. ^your thoughts are not suprising - DW has had more than it's fair share of avoidable accidents in the past involving the Thunderbolt, Chair lift, Cannonball Express & Blue Lagoon amongst them. I have to admit the incidents of the past still haunt me for a split second when I board the Giant drop today. This is an interesting topic because I think it is fueled by peoples dreams for Dreamworld to be so much better than it actually is. Let's hope the place holds a brighter future. I still have faith it somehow will.. Oneday By the way I agree with MYK about WWW. -Drove past the place the other day and it's looking suprisingly faded & worn. Not a very good first impression
  8. That's a pretty impressive expansion.. Where did you hear this news? Or is it just a rumur?
  9. Why do so many people continue to defend the SW product? I'm willing to bet that I have visited the place more than most people on this board and whilst I can appreciate it's landscape, ambience & balance, I have to agree that in reality, it lacks the fondness that people want it to have. I think WVTP's have been riding the nostalgic wave of Seaworld for too long now. Maybe it's time for them to step the pace up - perhaps shut down John's old "ski show" (heaven forbid) and open the place up for the development opportunities that the Park deserves..
  10. I'm sure the average family of four are spending loads more than $1100 a year on entertainment - a PS3 costs about that much and I know which present I'd prefer to give my kids.
  11. Are U serious? Without comparing our Parks to others that are clearly not available for us to visit often, this is GREAT value - particularly for teens on weekends and holidays. It's also a fantastic idea for families. No more boring weekends of "what shall we do" etc - just visit a park once a month and you have MORE than got back your money's worth
  12. I don't think the next Major attraction will be a coaster at all - There are a lot of other cool types of rides out there for the Park to explore. Most likely I would suggest a family orientated mildly thrilling ride (like a water or dark ride) will be next on the cards
  13. That's great to hear you didn't have to wait long but really no suprises there - you went on a Tuesday & well outside school Holidays (16th) The Motocoaster has missed the mark. Let's hope DW doesn't make such a mistake again!
  14. That's what I just said..
  15. Aw.. that's.. just.. WRONG!
  16. I love this topic! It comes around every so often and then just fizzles out.. Each time it seems to come back with more wind than the last and almost as quickly, it's gone again.. Really who wouldn't want a Disney Downunder?? The Mouse has enough power to drive the turnstiles in Australia better than any current Theme Park here ever could. The Park could have a unique Australiana spin to it not seen at any other - it would be an Imagineers Dream come true to design and build it. Back in the Days of Walt such a gamble might have been a consideration but I think it is something today that would be considered with ridiculous caution. As Richard mentioned there are countless sites around the world being considered for Disney Parks all the time, most of which will never see the light of day. Recently Disney mentioned they have no plans to open any more Parks and they intend to focus on the development of existing ones (Hong Kong, Califonia Adventure). They are however one of the most fickal companies out there and love to keep their newest developments sacred until the right time comes. I would not be at all suprised if Australia is being eyed as a future home for the Mouse. It could be unique and the public clearly want it here. Certainly more than India would anyway..
  17. I'm not real keen on them myself. Whilst visiting Zoo's admittedly I've made an effort to go & see them as they are rather curious animals. Unfortunately though, the fascination wears off after less than 5 minutes & I move on. In saying that, close to 5 million bucks is a pretty hefty price tag & I'm sure they will pull off a lovely display. SW already have some lovely displays and this is going to add a new dimension to it all. I like to think of it as a nice little addition that will compliment the Park but personally I won't be going out of my way to pay and go see them. I'd rather wait for them to pull their finger out and add something that's a worthy attraction and not another display.
  18. I totally disagree.. It's a great Theme, they just need to spend some money and fix it up. Gold rush is one of the few reasonably well themed adventure areas of the Park, I'd hate to see it go.. I'm sure they could get Eureka back up and running - it's just a case of cost vs return on investment
  19. Perhaps they are gearing up to add some sort of new attraction down that neck of the woods after the PA show closes for good? I'm still thinking the new Hotwheels stunt show is going to go behind Scooby. The current PA show sits in an impractical location that would be far better utilised as a future Dark ride or other indoor attraction. This way they could also continue to run Police Academy to the last of it's days and open the new show without any downtime between. Same thing happened with Dolphin Cove at SW years back..
  20. Interesting stuff. Thanks for the article Richard. I'm a little suprised to hear MW has once again fallen in the shadow of DW's attendance figures. I guess after years of barrolling out Annual passes to locals, DW may be in the winning streak (slightly) with the numbers through the gate but I very much doubt they are coming even close to MW's $-per-guest figures..
  21. QUOTE: "Police Academy is one of Movie World's only original attractions still operating. Batman Adventure is the only other original attraction still operating from the parks' opening." um sorry no Batman opened at the end of the second year!! The only other original standing attraction is the Looney Tunes River Ride! Anyway, new attractions are always welcome if you ask me! hahaha, I predicted this would happen way back at the start of the year:) I will be suprised though if the new Stunt Show opens in the same spot as it is the one things that bugs the neighbours out the back the most.. Time will tell I guess. As for SW, Hippos hey? Personally I would have preferred a new ride. LONG OVERDUE SW!! As Richard said, not EVERYTHING is mentioned in these reports
  22. hmmm.. apparently it isn't real good. -take it for what you will but I just read this somewhere else: "Batman and Robin: The Chiller wait: 0 min. row: 6th grade: 1 (out of 10 that is -10 being the highest) OWCH! now i no y people say its sooooo! painful. a word of Caution, dont ride in the middle!!!! after this i new i was in alotta pain again Then we made a Dare Devil Dive time n headed 2 ride Medusa." *** MW has never really done second hand and I can't see a reason for them to consider something like this sorry..
  23. ^Hahaha.. yeah Flowrider, that's what I meant to say!! Oops! slip of the tongue there... umm how embarrasing - Surfrider is too good to be on that list
  24. ^Indeed! 10 mil is about all DW has spent on major new attractions every three years or so. I will be quite suprised if we see something great open at DW in time for xmas 08. Mind you, they have consistantly hit below expectations in recent years so why are we so suprised now? - Surfrider. Not even worth counting - Wiggles world. Cute and great for kids. Really little kids - The Claw. Great Flat ride but not the biggest or best Giro swing around - Psyclone.. Hmm no comment Motocoaster is underwhelming because it has been promoted as a thrill ride. It's a nice little compliment to the Park and that's about it. Let's hope for something MUCH better soon!
