Theme Park Maintenance Schedules 2017
MickeyD replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
They are obviously investing big dollars in Wipeout's revival, I wonder how much (if any) involvement Vekoma are playing with providing new parts etc? With only 2 Waikiki Wave Super Flip rides left operating (is there still one somewhere in Mexico?) parts would no doubt be expensive and incredibly difficult to source. DW have historically been creative with retrofitting their rides in-house, however doing this today may effect the warranty and insurance for them to operate them safely. I think this is of grave concern for the future of ride's like Wipeout and indeed DW as a whole. My fingers are crossed that we will see shiny new life breathed back into Wipeout for the second half of the year. If they can't get her back up to scratch they would want to at least have a Plan B. -
Funny when I do an image search on the colour 'Orchid' people out there struggle to agree on it's variations. Orchid (color) - Wikipedia https://en.m.wikipedia.org › wiki › Orchi... Orchid is a bright rich purple color that is a representation of the color of the flower of some members of the plant family orchidaceae. 2nd row, a blend of the first middle two look pretty spot on!

Should Whitewater World have more of it's own identity?
MickeyD replied to Sarm's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Well put @Slick. The very fact that DW has an 'all under the one roof' feature certainly has it's benefits! Tbh, I usually spend longer on any given visit at DW than I do at the others for this very reason. Spending more time on property means you are more inclined to purchase food/drink during any given visit to DW. VTPs on the other hand do not offer so much of a full day at any of their Parks so instead of handing my dollars over at MW, SW, WnW or PC, I am awarded with the convenience and affordability of a multitude of food outlets just off property!! Way to go VTPs!! Seems like a ridiculous missed opportunity to me when you consider the % of revenue should be closely associated - and marketed toward the demographic audience . -

I think that you will find that the Mack Chief said it was 'Similar' to the Flash design - not a 'Clone'. From what has been assembled so far I am sure that most here would agree that ours is showing some pretty ambitious advances on Mack's first Hyper. -
Effect or Audio Errors on Rides

Whilst you are at it @joz feel free to put similar polls up on "What is your favourite Theme Park attraction" style threads.. Frankly because I really don't care😋 -

I have a word for this new configuration: "CLUSTERFUCK" But seriously, looks fun! Carry on chaps😅 -
I actually really like the idea of a Phantom Coaster, sighting that the 'name' of the ride is very marketable and people would be able to identify -and accept- easily with such a title. Surely a 'Phantom' Coaster would have to feature Skull Rock Cave? I think that would be a fun and exciting queue/station lead up to the ride.

Looks great and clearly all these sideshows at the Park are so popular!!!! Sarcasm aside, might as well open them all with just 1 or 2 staff. I hate seeing closed features at our Parks almost as much as Time share .

[Wishful Thinking] The Gold Rush Replacement
MickeyD replied to Reanimated35's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I'm sure anyone would agree that the former IMAX Theatre is greatly underutilized in it's current state. Turning the Theatre into a Soarin style attraction would require a lot of excavation. For example, the floor would have to be flat for the seating and plenty of room would have to be made for the ride's infrastructure. With the defunct Mine ride behind the building, perhaps the Theatre space could be dug out northbound and place the ride/seating toward where the old trrr channel sits today and put the screen where the audience seating currently sits? I have always wanted to see a Soarin style ride here in Australia. The experience is absolutely mind blowing! We have some amazing landscapes in our country and this could be a perfect draw for an Australiana Park like DW. -
^ argument? lol

Not having a fancy queue/preshow/station and elaborate themeing isn't a reason to discredit this as a possibility? Pretty sure that with the millions this thing has already costed there was never much of a plan to go over board with other things. As this is the single biggest investment on an Australian Theme Park ride, all it needs is a equally strong title for the Public to recognise it. Don't get me wrong- I would prefer to see an immersive lead up to the ride but in this case it isn't needed.

Well doesn't that just look shit!!

Diddo that. -
Great update as always thanks @Richard! I think DW are doing the right thing by focusing on discounted tickets, extra in-park entertainment offerings and an obvious commitment to Customer Service. 2017 is perhaps not the right time for DW to build a new big ticket ride and it is great to see their efforts are being modestly made in other directions. As part of their 'clean up' strategy I think the time has come to move ahead with plans to clear the Gold Rush and surrounding northern areas of the Park. Walling the area off has done it's job as a short term solution but now that time has passed. Leave things the way they are and all it does is place the Park in a perpetual state of uncertainty. Clear the land and make way for an exciting new 'World' that could open in stages from late 2018 and completed for Xmas 2019. Australiana fantasy like Blinky Bill, Gumnut fairies or even Dreamtime mythology such as the Rainbow Serpent among suitable themes to explore😀

WoW!!! So is something like this what we are now speculating based on pieces 42 and 43? I hope so! -
Very sad news.. Sounds a bit like the story of Henry all over again however Polars giving birth to twins and only successfully raising one is evidently common. A stressful time for the SW Animal peeps indeed. Let's hope Liya's other baby Cub makes it through OK.

As others have said Summer Holidays (June-August inclusive) are the best times to visit Disneyland due to the vast majority of Annual Passes being blocked from visiting There are also some other factors that work in favour of a Summer visit: - all available attractions operating with no scheduled attractions maintenance over the period June 1 - August 31. - all available Attraction Units operating (cars, trains, boats etc) sighting maximum capacity. - maximum staffing working throughout the Resort to ensure all aspects 'on stage' are fully equipped to handle larger crowds. - Extended trading hours across the resort every day throughout Summertime, allowing the entire crowd to spread across a longer trading day. I find that within the 1st few trading hours you can cover a lot of ground, ticking off some of the majors.

Thanks for your effort in speculation @Nateihendo - top marks for that😃 I do agree with others that your conclusion of a Catwoman themed Coaster is off the mark however. Catwoman is just not BIG enough to satisfy the intimidating enormity of this particular ride. I agree that WW is a missed opportunity, it could also be a big risk should the movie be a monumental flop. What continues to baffle me is the fact that Batman gets a crappy Space Shot meanwhile a 3rd rate Villain like Bizarro is a likely contender for Australia's first Hyper? Or is he? The only clue I have been offered recently about the Theme of this ride is it will 'make sense' once it is announced.. Hmm..

Down comes Sea World Water Park
MickeyD replied to New display name's topic in Theme Park Discussion
How is this area among the best themed on the Coast? Personally I think it's pretty average and again an area that is targeted at children. Half the targets on the Battle boats don't work and there are visible signs of rust, wear and tear all over the ride. The pool itself is basically just the old waterpark swimming pool with a track fitted? I really hope they put something better in beside it. If it is to be another exhibit, at least something immersive like entering a cave into dark lit environments to illuminate the jelly fish etc.. it's a pretty big space. Definitely room for a decent flat and an exhibit. -
What are reasonable prices for theme parks?
MickeyD replied to pushbutton's topic in Theme Park Discussion
As a Premium Passholder at VTP I have never received (or been offered) any special Park discounts/ incentives off retail or dining. Chances are, I have paid full price for an item and actually been entitled to a better deal due to my higher tier membership, yet never offered it. Nice to know my Custom is valued.. -
Nice one @joz and this is so absolutely true. Sorry MW but when I arrive and leave every time I visit no one has the decency to say hello or goodbye. What a lasting impression? It would be nice if someone from HR paid attention to this because bugger me, that is simply unacceptable.
