  1. Absolutely @AlexB the area for the ride footprint appears to have been widened significantly. Having not visited SW for a while, can someone confirm if the land has been reclaimed north into the Dolphin Lagoon or South into the Ski Lake?
  2. Thinking waaay back to when Wipeout was built, DW started levelling the area as late as September and still had no trouble opening it well in time for the busy Xmas season. I know that was a long time ago, but remember (like Wipeout) this is an otherwise transportable pre-fabricated mid-way ride. The biggest part of it's construction is getting the site ready (level, footings placed, electrical wiring, landscaping etc). Once all is properly prepared you can expect the ride system itself will get slapped up practically overnight.
  3. The Video ran for barely a couple of minutes and was hosted by an Actor that I believe is the same Actor as the Miner you see in Lift 2 ("What y'all doin in here! (fires rifle), Damn it look what you made me do " etc..). It's also the same voice "y'all take care out there on the River" before you board.. He is standing in a street of a Ghost Town set (probably from WB's in Burbank). He tells you that you're about to enter a real Ghost town film set used in famous Western films - like the one he is standing in - and to take care because it's Haunted. He then turns and begins walking down the street and vanishes, suggesting he is a Ghost.. The Preshow video was not as bad as Lethal Weapon but still was pretty bad. It also didn't make sense with Crowd flow as People would always just line up at the doors either side and it was hard to corralle them in and shut the door behind them. Also People would often force the Automatic doors open and continually break them. The pre Video and entire ride never had anything to do with the Wild Wild West Will Smith film, thankfully so too because that flick was a stinker!
  4. Thanks @themagician for the update. The leaves and gathered dirt has been like that for years now and that's a big gripe of mine, having worked that ride waaaaay back when it first opened. I hate seeing it like this and there is no excuse for it. In the olden days there were condition reports and maintenance requests that were reported by the Ride Supervisor and signed off by Maintenance looking after the Attraction. Every ride would be experienced at least once every day. Damaged and inoperative elements would be categorized (1, 2 or 3) based on how critical the problem and would be continually reported until fixed. The Department Manager would follow up any long standing issues to put pressure on, where necessary. Clearly none of this happens anymore😒
  5. Thanks for the great report as always Gazza! Seeing pictures like this one makes me feel grateful for what we have here in Australia. At least we have to maintain our older gems such as the one's at the Luna Parks if our Parks wish to keep them operational. This err 'Monorail' looks like an accident waiting to happen.
  6. I really like the idea of this but the execution needs work. While the lights look pretty cool the head of the thing (NOT AN ANIMATRONIC BTW LOL) just sits there motionless in the dark off to the left.
  7. Screamscape have provided an excellent detailed theory on how the incident likely occured. It's pretty long so here's the link for those interested: http://screamscape.com/html/walt_disney_world_resort.htm#Skyway
  8. Do they? I don't recall seeing Dolphins in the Living Seas but for me, granted that was a thousand years ago. They definitely have Manatees. Our SW is part of a global initiative, not to mention has rescued and rehabilitated countless Marine life over the 4 decades. *Sad Story ahead.. Just the other day while taking a stroll by the water I came across a large Sea Turtle carcass, probably 50+ years old, body washed up on the shore with it's guts all hanging out and had Plastic bags all twisted inside. The Turtle's shell had been smashed at the top. From what I could tell, It had died as it entered the Channel feeding on the bloom of Jelly fish (its favourite food) and from clearly what would have been years of eating plastic bags by mistake, it was no longer able to submerge, sadly got struck by a passing boat. This was a pretty confronting reminder of what terrible damage we have done to our Oceans. While places like SW will not be there to save every Animal -not even close- I am at least grateful that we have such an organisation that is genuinely committed to Marine Life care and through education, can really help make a difference.
  9. Thanks for the update! What's with the creek water in the Main st Fountain?
  10. The Bat-shaped things look kinda fun, the rest looks, well yuk! And what is with that Dessert Bar? Have they just tossed some jelly babies over a bowl of whipped cream?
  11. Oh Joy! Decades old and still one of the greatest thrills on the midway, bar none. Not sure if we even still get the Zipper on the East Coast?
  12. Sounds like someone's been tucking into Push's Brandy Cabinet to me!
  13. Thank you, yes sorry I couldn't remember the name of it.
  14. Sorry I was referring to all of those objects around the SW pool that could be deemed as safety hazards. I don't see how the Water tower at MW is any less safe from a child running into it?
  15. I've been copping vomits and Fountains the last few days too for no good reason. Agree with @Brad2912immature turds out there marking down People's posts because they don't like them. To be fair someone has been dishing Push vomits on everything he submits. I disagree with just about everything the guy says but this emoji behaviour is petty and really a type of bullying.
  16. So explain why the SW kid's water play area exists? It has loads of (potentially hazardous?) objects. I reckon this is just an affordable filler to last until the entire Kid's area gets a much needed makeover. Something that 'should' happen toward the end of next year.
  17. Yeah it sux. Kind of like the defunct Superstar Limo Dark ride at Disney in that It leaves you feeling a bit WTF just happened? No idea why they can't at least put the Lasers back in and fill the place with fog to try and hide all the half arsed shithouseness mess but my guess is it's something to do with setting off smoke detectors and Fire Alarms throughout the building. With nearly a year on since reopening I'm losing hope on seeing our SDSC returned to former glory. I would love to be proven wrong, of course we all would. MW is overdue for doing something impressive in the way of a visual/thematic experience. Something that should very much be the type of ride they look at doing next.
  18. This at least puts the space to use but don't they already have a coffee shop across the street?
  19. Great news! Just in time for the Holidays and as the weather is heating up. This will also help with Operations by having People stacked and ready to be counted in to the pre- boarding rooms. Now if they can just add a small bit of footage somewhere that demonstrates the boarding process.
  20. Wow that looks fun.. but It doesn't look quite ... real?
  21. How can clashing colours ever look out of place in somewhere like WWW? Clash away, I say!
  22. Dude, get down off your High Horse, please. I am a little surprised at such aggressive retort by a Moderator of all People on this forum - especially pointed toward someone like myself who never engages in rubbish like this as you should be well aware. I simply offered my opinion and as someone who has spent many years in the Theme Park industry and as an avid Theme Park Enthusiast, nothing more. Saying you are a buff at something does not mean you are an expert - nor did I ever suggest that I am. I appreciate the valid opinions of other's and happily accept them when delivered in a pleasant manner. So thank you for insulting my opinion as Juvenile when I suggested that you worked for VTP. I'm sorry but from your posts over the years you have always suggested that you were involved with AOS? I stand corrected but I am sure anyone in this site that has been here for ever would share the same view. I really don't understand why it's such a big deal and like everyone else on this forum appreciate the same level of respect that I give. This is not that. Feel free to delete this post Mods and can we please get back.on track. Thanks.
  23. Fair points @djrappa but from an Australian Theme Park perspective, overall this ride punches way above it's weight. Everyone has their opinions and we all appreciate different points of views. Sure this ride could be better - and still can be! Not sure if the Audio has been tweaked since you rode or the very fact that that is pretty much your personal Specialist background at VTP that you are being a little critical. Frankly, people in glass houses shouldn't be throwing stones because nothing good has come out of those Parks on the Show front for a very, very long time!
  24. Haunted Mansions at Disney Parks. Now THAT is a Pre-show that's entertaining. Anyway back on topic. With a tightening up of Operations and a few little amendments here and there, I reckon what DW have with SV can compliment the ride. They really just need to work on informing the GP better about the loading process with what they have, which in turn should speed up load time Regardless, it is so fantastic to finally have a flying Theatre in Australia. The experience will easily become a favourite among GC Theme Parks. Oh and those 'bumpy' motion effects are most definitely intentional! - you can tell because it is at the moments interrupted by likes of going through a Watrtfall and the Fireworks. The motion is for the most part smoothe and executes the sensation of 'swooping' downward beautifully - imo just as well as Soarin does! Those moments are truly thrilling! Seats are definitely smaller than Disney, but can still accommodate most larger guests. The "mist" fx are perhaps not so convincing as they spurt out with a bit of a PSSST sound effect and some of the smells are a bit off (ie grapes smell like lolly grapes).. but what do real Grapes smell like anyway? As a sound buff, I think the Audio is BRILLIANT and anyone who appreciates that kind of thing should really enjoy it. Also the Music Score is OUTSTANDING and frankly Disney quality. The soundtrack is emotional and powerful. Sure the image quality could be sharper - which is still possible to achieve with upgrades as years roll by. When the ride finishes, People even clap their hands - something I haven't seen in an Aussie Theme Park in years. Sorry MW and SW but with SV I truly believe DW now have the best Show/family attraction, something for them to be very proud of.
  25. What like the Q for Superman Escape? Without so much as your precious mobile phone - fair reason why I cannot stand a wait much less than 15 minutes for that one!
