Instructions: 1. Pick your favorite 10 rides in any Australian theme park (not shows) 2. Rank them in order, 1 being the best - so on & so forth. 3. Send them via PM to me by this time next week. They rides can be from any of the major GC theme parks PLUS Wonderland, Adventure Land, Jamberoo, Aussie World, Luna Park(s) or any similar sized theme park. Once I have everyone's answers I'll add them all up and get a cumulative Parkz list! (By the way I hope I don't need approval for this, I didn't see anything about it in the rules but if so SORRY).

^ Congrats on 100 posts! 2 hours is seriously insane to wait for a ride but sometimes if the atmosphere is right (and if its night it really helps) and you're there with friends I think you notice it less. I certainly couldnt wait 2 hours in line with my family for a line  haha. By the way guys, what's the shortest time you've ever waited for a *major* rollercoaster? I think 2 mins was the shortest for the Lethal Weapon and that was the last time I was there.

Just wondering what's the longest you ever waited for a ride in one of Aussie theme parks. I remember going to Dreamworld for one of their one off nights in 2003 and I waited 2 hours for Tower of Terror. And I only got to go on the Wipeout and that was the end of the night.

^ You're forgetting that year 12s finish mid Nov and uni students even earlier. I think anytime from the beginning of Nov will start getting hectic, especially at WnW.
-
Thanks. Wanna get down there before the next set of holidays (which I think starts early next month for some)

How dare YOU hijack my thread. How very dare you!

^ Thanks. Did MW look busy today?

^ LOL. I think Movie World, without the coasters, would have gone bankrupt. Think about it, people see the shows and tours once, but they will keep going back to ride rollercoasters every weekend. I actually love that Movie World puts in high quality coasters/rides instead of lots of crappy rides like Dreamworld, thats what makes it a cut above the rest.

I'll assume it's yours lol

^ I dont think those we need this type of discussion here do we? Take it to tweeter or something.
-
Dream World needs to not put in any new rides for the next few years and save up for a decent rollercoaster. I would happily forego any new rides for up to 5 years if we got something amazing at the end of it. But of course that won't happen. Meh

Thats a really small space for a rollercoaster I'm not going to get my hopes up for this, so hopefully I'll be surprised by the finished product.

^ There is really no Batman zone though since the official ride is shutting down + plus Batman is usually floating around the middle of the park. I think Batman: The Ride would be amazingly cool to replace Lethal Weapon theming. Actually I'm quite excited about that prospect.

Who's going to do the next update for us? I wish AW would post some construction pics on their facebook though, would be much easier.
-
Wow for some reason I thought Movie World was older. It's always seemed like a very established park to me.
-
Ouch for Sea World. Back in the day I would've said SW but too many good attractions have closed now (Bermuda, Pirate ship) and they havent added to the park in terms of good rides. Jet Rescue looks OK but not enough to make me go rushing there to try it out.

How on earth does a flume ride travel to shows? Ive never seen one at a show and I'd imagine it would be quite a lot of work to set up (considering you need water). Anyway yeah it's identical to the flume ride in Bridlington (called 'Jungle River') that recently came into the media spotlight when two of the passengers got ejected from one of the boats on the large downhill. One of the passengers, an elderly woman, got airlifted to hospital and ended up losing a leg due to the severe injuries. Apparently there was not enough water on the downhill which caused the boat to halt abruptly. I hope Aussie World keep an eye on that, could be a problem.

I'm still obviously new to this site although feel like I've been here longer since I lurked for ever, but I think it would be cool to do one of these meet ups as my friends/family aren't really into theme parks and whenever I go with any of them it feels like I'm dragging them and they dont half enjoy it as me

The Parkz Update Sea World, September 2011
POP replied to Parkz News's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Nice little update. I havent visited SW since 2001 (havent really been persuaded with their lack of new rides) but since me and my brother got VRTP 1 year passes last month we'll probably go check it out and take our little cousin since she will enjoy it more than us. -
Mods, please move this one. Had never heard of Fantasy Glades until today, so went and had a look at their facebook and was shocked to see over 4000 likes (almost as much as Movie World and it hasnt even opened - very impressive). I have to say I'm quite jealous of the new owners, they sound like they got it for a bargain and now they have all these people volunteering free time to help them get it re-opened. Sounds like a dream start.

Saw Journey to the Centre of the Earth with my family for the first time last month and we ALL loved it so much that we went and bought the actual movie. Never saw that movie or even heard of it beforehand, quite odd.
-
It's probably not a good sign that they closed both of the dark rides around the same time as each other. It could very well be that that's the end of them - especially since no construction has started on either. I do hope they keep them and revamp them though, since water rides are my fave
-
I'm assuming quite a few of you have met in real life judging by your cliquey banter Just wondering some of the history of meets ups and if there will be any in the future.

^ Yep there is a lot of land there at the back (especially where the 'luge' used to be. As for the flume ride themeing, I'm confident it'll be decent after seeing the Redback themeing (something AW did wayyyyy better than Dreamworld for their Shockwave). I'm also looking forward to seeing what they do with the boats.
