  1. I usually prefer to stay near MW and DW, like on Hope Island, but I think Village Roadshow will make it worth our while to stay there. Maybe there'll be early entry to MW and discount packages to AOS or Topgolf. Throw in animal encounters, good theming and transport and they'll be able to charge a fortune. Anyone read @Slick's review of the presidential suites at Sea World? Classy.
  2. I can see why they're doing this if they're building accomodation close by. It would certainly be cashing in on the golfing tourist's dollar. It's interesting in the video how the people playing golf are a bit laddish and obviously you don't need to be a pro to play. But I can't help thinking that that land could have been room for a park expansion. I think it's a bit of a missed opportunity. I doubt I will be visiting it in a hurry.
  3. Putting out the positive vibes for all the CEOS, theme park or Facebook-wise, who might be spending a night outdoors tomorrow for the CEO Sleepout. Mark has raised nearly $11000. Perth's temperature for Thursday 7-17*C. Brrr. Good luck.
  4. A little harsh on Melbourne - it's not like it snows there like it does in Tokyo or Paris.
  5. Rabbits and deer are what I saw. The bird life was impressive too. To me, that's charming. It sounds like the attack took place near the Grand Floridian which is around the Seven Seas Lagoon (which is huge). They often dress the lakes up to look like white sand beaches, but they usually have signs up warning guests to not go in the water. Very unfortunate.
  6. There's lots of wildlife that wanders through the resorts and the green space in between them. That's part of the charm, normally.
  7. ^So is anything actually open at MW? On the VR front, I too tried it in the 1990s. I find the latest uses so amazing. I was at the Singapore Science Centre in January and tried some of their demos - pretty basic stuff: simple games and abstract art type things. The glasses were separate from the headphones. Put the glasses on first and was bamboozled that I couldn't see my hands to put on my headphones. I think the technology has finally caught up and its uses for entertainment as well as education will be amazing. It might take the first killer app or game for it to really take off, but it will. The danger will be: will we get anytime to do anything else besides our virtual lives?
  8. It will blow your mind. I think everyone will have one by Christmas.
  9. Nice Facebook page name change. Fan of the game were we or just a coincidence? Anyway, I think the change of name to Theme Park World will do you lots of good as that is the easiest way people discover new pages on Facebook. Congrats.
  10. What Mark doesn't mention is that he's raised more than $7000 this year alone. An amazing job, Mark.
  11. I have no idea about the history. I remember seeing the sign up there in the eighties but never went in. It's not mentioned in any of the Wet N Wild history. Probably some clever person, like Tim said, getting in and using the name in Australia before it was registered here, much like what happened to Burger King.
  12. Yeah was trying to adjust the privacy settings and went a bridge too far and I couldn't find it.
  13. @jozDidn't you used to have some great footage of old Sea World? Yeah, I think Movie World peaked after Wild West Falls opened and before Police Academy closed. They definitely need a couple of good shows to round out the day.
  14. It'd be disappointing if they sold them. Maybe LPS would be interested in buying Python Loop.
  15. Could just be storing it as there are a lot of people in the showgrounds this weekend thanks to the Model Railway and Lego Exhibition.
  16. Yeah, I know what you mean. I don't mind them, but the older ones (like Perth's Python Loop) are getting rough. I was looking for POVs of different models and the only one that didn't seem like a headbanger was the FC80. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7X3Wxxe1-AM Still think a Gerstlauer would be a quieter and cooler addition to LPS.
  17. Nice find, Tim. Yeah, I think I walked right past them.
  18. Could be a Pinfari. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHpt8k2TPQY
  19. Big pool clean out at Adventure World. https://www.instagram.com/p/BGJFUDTHQ8k/?taken-by=adventureworldperth&hl=en
  20. Visited the Perth Showgrounds, today. Interesting to see what Sideshow Alley looks like during the off-season. Anyone have any idea where Python Loop goes during the winter?
  21. Visited a lot of stuff on its off-season, this weekend. Here are some shots of Perth's former Wet N Wild, which is now Kalamunda Water Park. It never had the range that other Wet N Wild parks have. It's lucky to still be with us as it was let to run down under its former guise. The local shire and the YMCA have taken it over now. I hear good things about it, so I might try visiting it over the summer. http://kalamundawaterpark.ymcawa.org.au/
  22. Mark has raised over $2000 so far. I like what you wrote in your introduction. In more ways than one, I respect what you're doing.
  23. Yeah, I think it peaked a little after that. Interesting when you watched the ads for the park, the later ones are emphasing Fright Nights or season pass members and not a new ride.
