  1. Didn't you used to love those park tapes they used to have in the 90s? I collected a few before they stopped making them.
  2. It's been an expensive old day for Pop. He was on 44 earlier.
  3. Wow, welcome to Passive-Aggressive World. Something you would stake your good reputation on, Pop?
  4. Not actually what surprised me. I would have been positive with his reputation, he would have laid low for awhile.
  5. I went on it in the 70s when it was at The Perth Royal Show and it was crazy then. It must have been my first coaster.
  6. Your Worlds is awesome. Very 'slickly' produced. I thought Thrillz (on Facebook) changed names and now advertises dentistry?! Pin142 - what's your page?
  7. Yeah, some parks are really supportive, some have no social media whatsoever and others just plain ignore you. Adventure World have been pretty supportive, liking or reposting some of my things. I hate it when news media posts your stuff and credits Facebook or no one at all.
  8. Yeah, I think the category that you label your page as has a bit to do with it - if you're a community or a news site. I think TPG has done the right thing listing herself as a blogger, especially since it's her adventures.
  9. Yup, follow you already. Very professional site yours. Still waiting for Sydney Theme Parks and Melbourne Theme Parks to start up. ?
  10. @reanimated35 - Perth Theme Parks. Some of the people who follow my page don't like coverage of GC parks, so I try not to cover too much of the stuff everyone else does. @themagician what's yours?
  11. Yup, I went to the dark side about 18 months ago. The way I look at it, we're like a gateway drug. People might have a passing interest in what's happening at their local park, like your page, then you can recommend them on to the other people's pages here and, more importantly, on to Parkz. There are a few I follow that don't post here, like Ausparks and the Australian Coaster Club. I do follow TPSN, but it bugs the crap out of me. The way he treats people like TPG certainly doesn't make it a social network; he can't spell to save his life and the 'internationalization' of his site, where you're trying to work out where he is or what Disney park he's talking about, is really annoying. I think the saddest of all are the ones that are started in good faith and end after a couple of posts.
  12. Thanks @reanimated35, that is the problem when you mention a couple of pages and not the rest. I think everyone who posts here and has a Facebook page or Instagram account does an excellent job. Some are great writers, others awesome photographers. Sometimes we do use Parkz as a source (and it's funny when we all share the Parkz news stories) but often it's through hard work that we get our stories. I think we've got a good part of the market covered with our little network. Longevity is certainly the challenge. Keep up the great work people!
  13. ^You should time how long it takes to do the entire park during that period. Could you be in and out of there in a couple of hours?
  14. Thanks Mark, I hope the weather is not as bad as last nights'. It seems like we'll finally get that car park upgrade. Good news, indeed. http://www.communitynews.com.au/cockburn-gazette/news/adventure-world-carpark-to-get-massive-upgrade-after-agreeing-to-pay-costs/
  15. We've had some horrendous weather in Perth this weekend, but the sun finally came out today. Paid a quick visit to The Maze/Outback Splash. There were about three cars in the lot when I arrived. I think there were two other people in the park. The crew there had apparently been clearing fallen tree branches from early in the morning. Outback Splash, the water playground, was closed with no sign of any preparation for the next stage of construction. Caught the 11.30 Koala keeper talk and one of the Koalas 'making it rain'. I did see some marking of trees on the far side of the park, where the new gate is going to be built. There were piles of bricks there too. Let's hope construction starts soon, so they can get the next stage of development under way.
  16. Good ideas, Tim. People are certainly suggesting a lazy river and building one around the filled in lake area would be a very smart move. It also looks like Freefall has risen from the dead as it appears in the background of the latest photos Adventure World has posted.
  17. Hey everyone, it's that time of year again when Mark does the Vinnies' CEO Sleepout (June 23). Be sure to donate in order to support a good cause. https://www.ceosleepout.org.au/ceos/wa-ceos/mark-shaw/
  18. Nice article from earlier on in the year. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/life/personal-technology/vr-theme-parks-for-australia/news-story/a0070d00e2da0ec9bb5b634430233c29 Zero Latency recently upgraded their whole system. I narrowly missed out on getting to test it on my last trip to Melbourne. They're now open mid week after only having sessions on Fridays and the weekends. I think VR will be everywhere by Xmas. Be prepared to have your minds blown.
  19. ^ Lucky you. That's some weird news. Behind the vintage cars? Another TOT? WTF? It would be interesting if Clayton was on here.. or perhaps he already is. We know he reads the forums.
  20. Adventure World's Facebook page has confirmed what Mark had told us about the covering of the lake. It looks like AW might get a little pushback on this. Whilst the lake and the Koi pond had seen better days, I think a lot of people enjoyed the ambience. They're also wondering where the Koi have gone.
  21. Plus the International parks are closer to us.
  22. Buzz Lightyear has changed. http://www.themeparkinsider.com/flume/201605/5075/
  23. Thanks @jjuttp, very useful information. According to Eric Pearson, the Ettamogah Group was here in December looking at all of the great food and drink venues in the Swan Valley. The Entertainment Centre option is definitely the most suitable for that area (definitely no high rises) and the page URL even ends in WA. People are always looking for accommodation out that way (after concerts, weddings or wine tours), so it's a pretty smart move on their behalf.
