Thanks for answering all of our inane questions, Mark. Incidentally, do you have a top 5 theme park staples list (the top 5 rides that you think any park should have)? -

Hey Mark With the success of Firechaser Express and Tailspin, surely you must be thinking about getting some more Gerstlauer products. Do you see Outback Splash as competition that needs to be addressed? Are you going to try and match what they get? And finally, any thoughts on a castle replacement? Thanks in advance. -

Hi Mark Welcome. Thanks for collectively blowing our minds last year. It's been great to see the progress that Adventure World has made. It's certainly given us plenty to talk and speculate about. Awesome choice on getting a custom Eurofighter. Looking forward to MI-2. -
Cyclone is better than Thunderbolt was at the end. Cyclone has an interesting mix of elements and on the whole hasn't aged too badly. Only if they could fix up that queue area.

I probably will go this weekend and check out the new menu. Hope you are okay - it wasn't a magic trick gone wrong? -

More shots from Fright Nights - looks like they got quite a crowd. Unfortunately, I didn't make it down to the park, especially annoying since I knew one of the hosts 'Magnus Danger Magnus' - a very cool character. -
Sometimes it has to do with copyright too. The Jurassic Park ride at USS expressly forbids any filming or photography, but you could physically do it. The Canopy Flyer used to be no problems until recently.. I wonder if that has anything to do with the construction work next door.

Except for the bunny hop at the station, I didn't mind it too much. Is it my imagination or is Escape to Madagascar going the same way?

What would you like to see at Gold Coast Theme Parks soon?
iwerks replied to Santa07's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I find it hard to believe that they will never increase the price of their passes. Even Disneyland had to increase the cost of theirs to eliminate overcrowding and their maximum pass is over $1000. http://deadline.com/2014/05/disneyland-raises-ticket-prices-socal-passes-732752/# Adventure World's season pass retails for around $145-$160, which means it pays for itself in around three visits. I was also surprised by how cheap and nasty the passes actually are for the Gold Coast parks. It's clever technology, but not pretty. -
Coasters you have been on that no longer exist

Turbo Mountain, Thunderbolt, Eureka Mine Ride, Corkscrew, The Chipmunk, Panasonic Alpha 8 (Singapore). Can you count Thrillseeker if it is still running as the Taipan in Victoria? https://au.news.yahoo.com/vic/a/25108553/rollercoaster-gets-stuck-with-eight-people-on-board-at-royal-melbourne-show/ (or not as the case may be). Does that mean you can count the earlier versions of TOT, Space Mountain, Runaway Reptar Rollercoaster, The Wild Mouse (at the Perth Royal Show) and LW? -
Yeah, it's odd how zoos don't get a look in here: Parkz could refer to places other than theme parks. Recently visited Currumbin and reported on it in my blog - really enjoyed it. I was amazed at how many monitor lizards were running around the place. The bird show is excellent as well.

Good question: I think their figures will tell you that they had a large bump last season. Everyone was eager to get their first ride on Abyss, especially at last year's Fright Nights. It will be interesting to see how that compares with this weekend. I think people are still talking about it. The park can be really packed on its busy days (read: hot weather), although I don't think they are as consistent as the big parks on the Gold Coast. They also do big corporate gigs, often on Sundays. There were a number of times last year, where I'd try and sneak a few rides on Abyss on a Sunday morning and come up against a mass body of corporate families. Abyss handles the crowds pretty well, other rides not so much. -

December is better than January - especially before Xmas. Get there in the first hour before queues build up and you will only have to wait 15 mins for Abyss. Apparently Freefall is still struggling on. -
The Today Show was at Sea World, today. Apparently, they played that video of Karl freaking out on GL. Nice.

Abyss received a silver medal in the WA Tourism Awards' New Development Category. Adventure World's Fright Nights are on this Friday and Saturday. -
Adventure World was built on an old industrial estate. I'm sure someone in real estate would know how to find land to develop.
-
Well said Alex. It's funny how poor computer rendering can devalue a website. Maybe they would have been better off going with some traditional artwork. I think four years is a pretty quick timeframe. I would have said ten to twenty years. Keep in mind Disney first got his idea for Disneyland sometime in the 1930s and 40s, that and the fact that he's Disney (and even he struggled). It may end up looking like LPS nestled between a couple of shopping malls, but an amusement park is better than nothing at all.

He'll be back. And then there's that guy from Elysian World..

I'm sure he'd tell us given the opportunity. In 5,4,3,2,1..

You never know, some really cool entrepreneur could reinvent it for a new generation.. wait a second.

Extras are employed by the day or the week. I would think all of those other things would be included in their one off fee. I think the main actors would get some royalties. There are pretty standard contracts for these. I reckon you would expect a lot more from paid actors with regards to performance.

We'd have the best darn industrial estate ever! http://www.thethemeparkguy.com/park/sydneys-lost-theme-parks/?loc=none Or do you mean if 2004 had never happened..?
