MW Mini Driving School - Officially Confirmed
iwerks replied to Brad2912's topic in Theme Park Discussion
That sucks. Question is: does that state have a theme park? -
Nice. Test it out before you go. Sorry, bad reception here. From what I have seen they look pretty sharp. I shoot my video on a DSLR.

XXXL looks insane. Unfortunately, I can't stomach rides like that. Are you going to try and get your canera on any rides?
-
Go for it, Tim. I was impressed by how big some of the rides at sideshow alley have become. I'm not going back this year as I'm over east for the next week.
-
Thanks Jobe, just the once as it's $10 a pop. If they get one at LPS I hope it's a new one as this one is getting on in years. It's no Abyss.
-
Yeah, some of those rides looked pretty painful.
-
Yup - looked pretty quiet.
-
And in the meantime.. I went today - 29 degrees - very nice. Got lots of pictures of Python Loop for Jobe.

Adventure World 2015 - 'Mi2' Kraken Tornado slide
iwerks replied to Tim Dasco's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I presume you mean the photo of the tree with the new bench and astroturf? The only picture I took of the slides yesterday was of the timer at the aqua 6 super racers. It was weird on Monday as some people were wearing jeans and a jumper - which is unheard of there. -
Even Adventure World stays open until 7pm all January.

It's a pretty high capacity ride for such a small park. There would have been only a couple of hundred people there today. In January, the queue does get up to 1 to 2 hours. Reanimated - where? This is a waterpark, people usually wear boardshorts or bathers. -

Had a great day in the park. A lot of attention has been paid to the little details. The re-themed rides look great. The cabanas already appear to be making money for them. Abyss wasn't up for the first hour, but quickly came online after that. It was pretty much walk on up to a ten minute wait for all of the rides in the park. The much troubled Freefall was looking faded and was unsurprisingly not functional. A small team of maintenance workers were scaling the tower all day. The castle is all gone, but for the base. I think it will be difficult to build another attraction on this small parcel of land, unless its a family coaster that starts from the 'main land'. Nearby, trees have been cleared between The Shotgun slides and the Grand Prix Raceway (the possible site of a new ride sometime in the future?). I didn't notice too much change with the menu and the food at the cafe. I couldn't locate storybook corner, but I did notice tiny little homes nestled at the base of trees at the back corner of the park. -
Isn't this a big picture topic? Welcome KingdaKa, I think a lot of us consider the ghetto-isation of our parks all the time. We all want the best rides with great theming, but we don't really have the culture here in order to support it. Is it time to lift ticket prices in order to raise more capital?

Luna Park Sydney - the future with Wet'n'Wild
iwerks replied to JulieLovis's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yup, Jobe swears blind there is no room for a Eurofighter there unless it's a custom, which would be double that price at least. On the other hand, the Abyss is a great ride and everyone deserves to live in a city with an awesome little rollercoaster in it. -
Abyss at Adventure World was walk on for the back row today. 5 to 10 minute wait for everything else.
-
Yeah, it existed, check the history books. The local shire took it over after it wasn't maintained over a number of years.

They just had live crosses to Adventure World and the Royal Show on the local 9 news breakfast show. -
Battlestar Galactica coaster closure/retheme
iwerks replied to iwerks's topic in Theme Park Discussion
After they closed the BSG coasters the first time they implemented that seating plan. I think anyone over 185cm had to sit in the front row or in the middle seats of the rest of the train. I'm not complaining if it increased the odds of getting a front row seat (which it did). BSG has got quite a bit of height to it, but it isn't as fast as Superman Escape, as they tend to brake a little before the apex. It also sounds like the new paint scheme will highlight the parts of the ride where they go through the tunnels/mist. -

My pictures of the front of the park from earlier today. The last three are from Adventure World's website on the opening day - when they had good weather. http://adventureworld.net.au/#/news-events/opening-day-at-adventure-world-2014/ -

Even though they opened on Thursday, today Adventure World was closed. It was pretty wet and windy in the morning, but the sun came out in the afternoon. AW is turning into a bit of a Cadbury's park. Unless you want the wrath of angry soccer mums advertise your closures or stay open. -
Any thoughts about the new hotel planned for the Gold Coast Theme Park precinct? http://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/news/developers-plan-to-build-the-first-hotel-in-the-gold-coast-theme-park-precinct-between-dreamworld-and-movie-world/story-fnj94j0t-1227068249939?sv=93b9fb1156087d160dcfabfa409459f1 Are there really no hotels in that area? Where do people like to stay when they're on the coast?
-
Or if they're going to bring back Wet N Wild Kalamunda?

Interesting - not quite what I expected. The cabanas appear to be on the cafe side of the pool, with only one facing the pool. From AW's Facebook page: A luxury cabana includes: - Two cushioned sun loungers and two cushioned chairs - A small bar fridge with 5 complimentary bottles of water - A private safe to lock away your valuables - A wall mounted fan - Premium food service to your door It would be good for special occasions. It's great that it has a safe. I wonder where the fifth person is supposed to sit? -

Sorry, I'm not a dodgem car enthusiast, I'm just interested in them, but since when have operators encouraged riders to smash the other guests?
