  1. No idea. I only visited there once. It's weird, I 've only been to Sydney twice. The first time to see Old Sydney Town in what must have been its first year of operation, the second to catch Fox Backlot. Still kinda miffed I never got to go to Wonderland. Fox Backlot was walking distance from the hotel I was staying at.
  2. And I thought WA had some crazy place names..
  3. Yeah, there's some footage of the Titanic Experience. Obviously, there was lots of street entertainment and a couple of shows, but zero rides (at the time I went). It was really sold as a proper theme park, so when people realised there were basically no rides there they were pretty miffed. Still didn't believe it when they closed it down so quickly.
  4. ^ I like how Wedding is included in that group. I live near Innaloo, if that helps. There's Koolyanobbing in the wheatbelt and a mining town called Woodie Woodie. Other bizzare places in Perth include Dogswamp and Upper Swan.
  5. I guess like most reasonable people you didn't count Fox Studios Backlot as a themepark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVwWnYslgok
  6. That pic was taken awhile ago - at the start of the current season. I think they will be limiting the chance of any kid to get anywhere close to that.
  7. Whilst I agree that I don't think MW should build this as a VR coaster, especially considering the views it's likely to have, I disagree about VR's future. I think it's more than just a gimmick. I think between that and augmented reality, it is the future of entertainment. Once we get past the PS2 graphics, it will be mind blowing - perhaps more as a stand alone attraction than as a rollercoaster. Film-wise, I really disliked Avatar. For me, 'Gravity' really nailed it.
  8. This is the equivalent of Dinosaur Island or Prison Break Live - a filler for a gap year. What gets me about this is that we didn't see it coming - they were doing so much else that we thought they'd done enough already. I think it's a smart move. It'll hit the target market pretty well and be a crowd pleaser. With two shows a day it should soak up capacity and give people a place to shelter from the midday sun. I hope this is in addition to the kids' 3pm show, which is a different market segment.
  9. Thanks Mark. Just saw it. https://adventureworld.net.au/rides-and-attractions/rides/cirque-extreme
  10. The irony being that Adventure World will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
  11. Just wanted to congratulate @Mark Shaw and his team for their nomination in the WA Tourism Awards. Not only is the park a finalist in the Major Tourism Category, but one of their team members has been nominated for The Sir David Brand - Young Achiever Medal. Best of luck for November 12!
  12. That's weird, I was thinking more Japan or Singapore. http://dejiki.com/2016/10/uss-hhn6-survival-guide-tips-tricks/#more-15267
  13. I like the way you're thinking. Hopefully heading to HHN somewhere?
  14. The Silverwood Asylum does sound a little like the one we were talking about last year, but this one doesn't have any tents for sleeping. So if you did that, the After Party and a Star Tour you could pretty much have 24 hours in the park.
  15. Due to popular demand, the early bird season pass sale has been extended until October 16. Good news for those still on the wall about getting membership.
  16. This is an interesting idea: https://m.facebook.com/ridearchive/?tsid=0.11257206439040601&source=typeahead Tragic thing is I can remember riding a lot of those attractions in the 90s.
  17. Don't forget everyone, the early-bird season pass offer closes Monday. They've also got a discounted ticket offer for these holidays, I presume it's because the weather is so delightful.
  18. It does seem like they're genuinely trying to find another tenant. I don't want to think about other options just yet. It'd be a shame if they just turned it into another pub or restaurant.
  19. Interesting meeting appears to have taken place at The Great Escape, today. I just happened to be hanging around waiting for another whale watching cruise, when these guys passed me by.
  20. ^Those Hobbit films presented on 60 fps used to really annoy me. The sets would all look fake, like it was shot on cheap video. Deinterlacing is something that makes a difference too. I remember seeing those early films shot on video and feeling ripped off, whilst other people couldn't spot the difference.
  21. ^I'd be more interested in knowing how it changes the on-ride experience, than just watching it from a POV nearby. I think I'd want them to use fx that are more manageable in the long run. By the way, saying everyone on here is rude is kinda rude.
  22. Thanks, mod. Will they have much time before leavers/schoolies starts? Does the Indy cars' crowd affect the parks much?
