  1. Yup, Adventure World was doing something similar but with a wider demographic. They were supposed to shoot last frday. Unfortunately, it has been delayed.
  2. Yeah, it looks exciting. Perth has yet to get a truly decent water slide. It's early days for Outback Splash as it's still just a very large water playground, but the King Cobra and the other new attractions (like a hedge maze and the Cube) will make a visit much more worthwhile. http://www.outbacksplash.com.au/
  3. Sorry Jobe. Is this the result of a FOF survey or can't you say? Which Village Roadshow park is due to get the next big lot of Capex?
  4. The Maze has re-branded itself as Outback Splash at the Maze. Their new park map shows the next stage of their expansion, most of which is tagged for 2015. This includes a kids water slides area as well as a King Cobra. Apparently, Dave Hughes was visiting the park the other day when the temperature was in the mid-thirties.
  5. ^ Can I pull a Jobe and ask if you have a source for that information?
  6. Having said that, that Dreamworks area of theirs actually looks like a theme park.
  7. From AW's Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/AdventureWorldOfficialPage 'STARTING TOMORROW: You can catch the musical stage performance of "The Story of Dragon's Kingdom" at 3pm each weekend on the new Fairy Treehouse stage at Adventure World! Starring Flossy the Fairy, Yarli the Lovable Dragon and his cheeky little sister Yarlotte!' Wait.. this is going to be a musical?! Things just got interesting.
  8. The queue area for cyclone looks like it has storm coaster damage.
  9. There's so much land there, surely they'll get another coaster or flume ride after Wild, if that goes ahead.
  10. ^Yeah, those hours really bugged me, especially for Thunder River Rapids. I'm also not a fan of the hours they keep for their cafes as well.
  11. More 'breaking news'.. Universal Beijing to open in 2019 http://lukeandthetempleoffun.blogspot.com.au/2014/10/universal-studios-beijing-to-open-in.html and Madame Tussauds on Sentosa is set to open with a boat ride?! http://seconddrop.blogspot.com.au/2014/10/madame-tussauds-is-coming-to-singapore.html
  12. ^ Still not feeling well, huh? Yeah, not a fan of putting roller coasters near animals. I think it's bad enough with the TOT2 being so close to the tigers.
  13. Does anyone know if slideboarding is being picked up at the local parks? http://www.whitewaterwest.com/cgi/page.cgi/Industry_News/WhiteWater_and_Village_Roadshow_celebrate_the_sale_of_Slideboarding?_id=45
  14. Yeah, I hope not. There's always a worry when they go for the biggest in the world that it's a bit of a one trick pony. Here's the link to that article. They also mention that they will have fireworks at their fright nights - just not by the same company as last year - I wonder why? http://www.watoday.com.au/entertainment/about-town/kids-put-adventure-worlds-new-food-and-rides-to-the-test-20141009-113cf3.html
  15. Dejiki reports that things are looking good for the BSG coaster. They're testing strange ride vehicles and looking for certification before the end of the year with hints the new trains might only be three abreast. http://dejiki.com/2014/10/uss-update-2014oct/
  16. How many members of Parkz were at MW on Friday? Really enjoyed my stay on the coast. The annual passes are insanely good value. Whilst the food has improved a lot in the last six years, it's certainly more expensive. Dreamworld has made improvements with its theming, but I think MW wins out with food and overall attention to detail. The queues aren't too bad at this time of the year. It would be great to see more dark rides, especially ones with a strong narrative thread. I didn't mind Justice League, but it needs a bigger finale. The Stunt Driver show isn't up to the standards of the old Police Academy one and doesn't really make a lot of sense when you think too hard about it. I think you guys in Queensland are lucky to have parks of such good quality on your doorstep. Enjoy.. and keep up the good reporting.
  17. Probably a really long water slide. They have cleared a couple of trees around the back of where the castle used to be. It's the kind of thing they could afford to do well (Reckless Loony also mentioned that they had vague plans for a water ride that starts at the top of the hill). As much as I would like them to make another dry ride to compliment Abyss, the result of the poll at the start of the year was for another wet ride.
  18. Enjoyed the current show. Is it me, or has the food gone off? The steak was pretty rough. The show was great, otherwise.
  19. There are signs saying Storm Coaster this way, but that's more from the opposite direction.
  20. Yeah, that's a great idea Alex. They appeared to have lots of staff on, even if some appeared to be training. I can't fault any of the ride operators at MW, today. I have never got on and off rides so quickly. Dreamworld, on the other hand, really seemed to under staff quite a few of their rides, creating much longer wait times. Their food stalls closed really early too.
  21. There was an article about Adventure World on the WAToday website overnight. It confirms what we already know and supplies dates for: Story Corner October 18th Dinosaur Island November 27th The New Menu October 18th They talk about the castle and say that if it did come back it would have to be bigger and better. It's hinted that something will appear on that site within three years. The big bombshell is saved for the end. That they are signing contracts for a new attraction that would be the biggest in the world if it goes ahead. I wonder if this means the biggest size of a ride or if they are going for a 'world record'?
  22. Yes, it was nice and busy today. Some of my friends gave the Driving School a go. They got on first cycle. There were lots of spare cars on the track that had to be moved. Some kids are really bad drivers. One of my friends was rear ended. There appeared to be a bit of time between cycles. Is it a ride for me - no. Does it serve a purpose in the park - certainly does.
  23. No, they were talking to the customers and loading us quickly onto the trains!
  24. Went on GL twice today and SE three times. Wait time was from 5 to 15 minutes. They were quick and efficient. Arkham on the other hand..
