  1. Oh, sorry. When I saw " Rick's Market Place excuse me? Did we just decide to change movie history with an otherwise iconic MW facade? ", that's what I thought you meant!
  2. Yep. My thought too. It's supposed to be out of a movie, not a randomly named place! MOVIE WORLD. Keep the THEME consistent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Of course, they haven't bothered to update the website. But why would they want to do something like that? It's not as if they care about maintaining a coherent guest experience or anything~! Well, I guess that's another demonstration of why parks need someone whose main responsibility is to maintain the guest experience (as I detailed in another thread today).
  4. Unless (like me this morning) you're on the first ride of the day, in which case you skip the preshow and just go straight on the ride!
  5. It's recently become more and more apparent to me that all theme park companies need an employee with appropriate experience and knowledge to do the following. Large chunks of this are not being done currently at any of the Queensland parks, or are being done by people without adequate knowledge, resources or authority, making the customer experience far less valuable than it should be. I believe Disney has employees they call "Imagineers", and their responsibilities are probably somewhat similar to this. Duties: *Conduct frequent, randomly timed checks on the customer experience through carrying out a combination of audits including personal experience of all rides, other attractions, shows, guest facilities, shops, food outlets, and walk-throughs of the park environments to assess their quality, cleanliness, maintenance, and operation, as well as staff interaction with guests, and general performance of their roles in adding to the guest experience. *Coordinate 3rd parties to carry out similar checks covertly, and collate the results. *Gain insights from guests at the park and online on their experiences. *Gain insights from staff including ride operators, retail and hospitality staff, and entertainers on anything they feel could be improved to add to the guest experience. *In all of these checks, the primary focus should be on how much fun the ride is, how well it fits into the theme of the park, and the area, and how well the story is told on each ride. *Use knowledge of ride operations, theatre, retail and food operations, as well as developments in international tourism to research solutions to issues found, and improvements. *Liaise with managers and contractors whenever any significant alterations or additions to the park are carried out, to ensure such work is done in such a way as to maximise the guest experience. *Provide regular feedback to park managers and executives on the findings of these checks, and recommendations for improvements to rides, environment, and training which could add to the guest experience at the park. Anyway, there might be more to add, but that sums up the role I think. Examples of why the parks need someone in such a position: 2 recent major changes at Queensland parks show examples of why this position is needed: Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster "Next Generation", and the numerous issues that have been discussed at length about it in these forums. Sky Voyager, which while in my opinion is fantastic, has very obvious flaws and gaps in its presentation which could have been avoided by having such a person involved in its development.
  6. The preshow could and should actually add to the experience and be fun and entertaining. If it was good enough people would be more than happy to see it again and again. To make it betterfor repeat riders though, ideally there should be several preshows (all fun to watch, and relevant to the ride), that way you never know which one you're going to see.
  7. I assume by your earlier post you meant Village want Movie World but not Sea World. It wouldn't make sense the other way around because Movie World obviously has a lot more attractions then Sea World.
  8. Is that why they're building the new rides at Sea World?
  9. As far as I'm concerned just a few months ago Sea World wasn't really trying to be a theme park anymore (Village called it a "Marine Park"), and Dreamworld looked as if it was in serious danger of closing down (and Ardent called it a "Fun Park", although it wasn't really all that much fun compared to the local competition). Fast forward to now. Both parks are back on their way to being truly great theme parks. Whilst Village obviously have more to offer overall with their number and variety of facilities, I have no doubt they once again see Dreamworld as a competitor now, and that's fantastic!
  10. Sounds like a very well thought out event. If it is held in the evenings it will provide a child and family friendly alternative to Movie Worlds Fright Nights. Could fill a gap in the market and become a very good annual event.
  11. I completely agree it's a great ad, but I also agree that the service standard in the parks often doesn't match what's advertised and definitely needs work to improve.
  12. While I would have preferred more shade, this does look like one of the better seating areas I've seen recently.
  13. Would be very poor management given how long they had to do that before it opened, and also given that it's only been open a few days (yet now guests once again can't use it! Also, filming inside can very easily be done before / after park trading hours. I really hope it's not closed for filming!
  14. Hmm. Twice in 2 days on a brand new ride, opened 9 months after construction. What's going on?
  15. Sorry but I have trouble understanding your post. Are you saying you have found God on yewtyoob?

  17. Indeed it's not. The fact we came up with several interpretations proves that. Unless it's Ardents new way to avoid future "ambitious" annoucements (by just not actually announcing anything and being very ambiguous instead)! Had they had this policy a year ago, the announcement that "Sky Voyager will open on Boxing Day" might have been something like "You can't watch a Dreamworks cartoon in the cinema, but your time to fly may be festive"
  18. and imagine how incredible that space would be if it had seating too!
  19. No I can't read. I just saw pictures of Buzzsaw on the fence and thought it looked exciting.
  20. It could be that Buzzsaw is just under maintenance, but it looks like the beginning of something far more exciting to me!
  21. Here's my thoughts, having ridden it a few times and enjoyed it, on how I think Sky Voyager could have been (and still could be with a few adjustments) quite a lot better. 1. The introductory video (the first you see when you enter the building) is a good introduction to Australia for foreign visitors (and I assume that's what it's supposed to be). However it's almost irrelevant to the Sky Voyager experience. What it could have been, which would have been far more interesting and fun, is a very brief history of flight (how aircraft were invented) but with some lesser-known information. Leading into a very brief overview of the latest aircraft, and a sort of vision (or dream) of how aircraft might be in the future. The whole video should have been produced in a way to make it funny, and able to be understood by guests of all ages. 2. The second video ("safety video") should have been presented in a similar style to the safety videos seen on board real aircraft prior to each flight, but specialised to Sky Voyager. Most importantly, it should have shown how to fasten and unfasten seat belts on the ride! 3. Once you're on the ride itself, and everyone has their seat belts fastened, the lights should turn off BEFORE the safety barrier goes down, and as it does so the sound of an aircrafts engines revving up ready for take off should be heard. Then the actual ride should start.
