Thanks again. Very very interesting photos. Lots of big changes over the years.

Thanks Jeffrey. I'll enjoy looking closer at those later. So looking at the last postcard, does that mean Sea World was once in Surfers Paradise?
-
I thought they were UNLIMITED! Yet now they're saying that because there are so many people wanting to buy them they will no longer sell them? What???

More very sad news today about the Broadbeach monorail. I have sent Sea World a message suggesting they try to aquire the train (or is there two even) so they can run three again during busy periods. If I get a response of any value I'll mention it here. I like the plans for Jupiters apart from this, but they could build it around the monorail. Yes, it is probably true that the monorail is nearing the end of its life, but that means it's time to invest in a new one, not destroy it!

Thanks JeffreyMoore. I find it very interesting to learn about the history of the parks. One small bit of Sea World history I have known for many years is that some of the dolphins came from Marineland, which was an indoor attraction in Adelaide. I lived in Adelaide when Marineland closed and they sent the dolphins to Sea World. That was over 20 years ago, but it's possible one or two of Sea Worlds current dolphins are direct descendants of those. Dolphins can live a long time, so there's even a small chance one or two are the actual ones from Marineland still.

So did they have a dolphin show at the front of the park back then?
-
I know Sea World had dolphins before 1996, so where did they used to be?

Tiger Island Refurbishment - Dreamworld 2016

I think it's very exciting that Dreamworld are saying they have (presumably big) plans. I can't wait to see what they come up with. I just hope it's not even more spin and spews! -
Again with the completely unnecessary and immature nitpicking. Anyway POP I for one care much more about the question than finding faults with the grammar. We're not at school in English lessons! To be honest I haven't given this any thought until now, but I'd like to see them add another ride every couple of years to build up the park. Not sure how much space they have though.

Kinda like that!

Those photos almost bring a tear to my eyes!

They had pedalos a few years ago, but they only stayed there one year for some reason. Closest now is the Battle Boats, which are great on a hot day!

These are still coming up regularly on the various discount sites but it wouldn't suit me as you don't get access to the night events.

Doomsday Destroyer - 2016 Movie World construction

Doesn't look like the Show Stage is going anywhere so far, but we do know that air conditioning specialists were working in there. This gives me fresh hope that maybe the building will be kept and used. Perhaps to house the worlds best attraction. Fingers crossed! -
Why visit 2 theme parks instead of the same theme park twice?

Copy and paste the above posts and you've just about got your dissertation! (But use proper referencing, of course!) -
I happen to know there's at least a few people in this forum who have basic respect and manners. I've met a couple of them. Shame they hardly ever post.

Web slave and Skeetafly - I'm surprised. I had thought you didn't have that attitude, and up to now most of your posts seemed reasonable. Maybe I was mistaken.

If the Sea World monorail ever went I'd rarely go to Sea World.

I just hope they replace the sets they're losing with new sets. It wouldn't be much of a movie world with no movie sets! -

To be fair, I should probably add the Peter Brock museum at Dreamworld to the list. It's more of a museum than a walk through attraction as such, and it's not at the same level of awesomeness as the walk throughs I mentioned above, but it is good. -

Each to their own. I go to each of the Queensland walk throughs as often as I can afford to. That's the trouble though. You have to pay each time! -

There are four fantastic walk throughs in SE Queensland. - Infinity (Surfers Paradise) - Draculas Haunted House (Surfers Paradise) - Ripleys Believe it or Not (Surfers Paradise) - Professor Bogglesworths Illusionarium (Aussie World). If you haven't experienced these yet I strongly recommend all of them! -

I would be extremely disappointed. For me to consider it worlds best it would have to be either a state of the art dark ride, a state of the art walk through, a very well themed ride experience such as Jaws, or a very innovative cinematic experience, possibly incorporating a ride. Goes without saying that whatever it is needs to have an immersive movie theme. Separate from all of that, I'm really looking forward to seeing what the entertainment precinct includes. -
Well I certainly hope that is not on the cards!

Why visit 2 theme parks instead of the same theme park twice?
pushbutton replied to LP57's topic in Theme Park Discussion
In the Gold Coast we're lucky enough to have 5 theme parks within a short drive of each other. I have two passes. One gets me into two of the parks whenever I want for the next two years. The other lasts indefinitely as long as I continue to pay a tiny amount of money each month, and gets me into the other three parks whenever I want. Why then would I limit myself to only visiting one of the parks?
