Wet & Wild buggy permanently closed?
pushbutton replied to pushbutton's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Seems like a very sudden closure, and at school holiday time too. Definitely looks like it's gone though. -
At the park this morning and the buggy signs have been removed. 10.30am and nobody in the buggies area of the park, and no sign of the actual buggies. Also the website www.wetnwildbuggy.com.au is down. Tried to access it, and just shows "Bad Request 400". Can't find it on the main Wet & Wild site either.

It's a bit like "New Myer" and "Target Tomorrow" in the retail world. Just marketing words. Nobody remembers after a few years, and at the end of the day they didn't really change their names. -

To add further to my earlier report, I now understand this is the new attraction planned from 2019. -

The building could potentially be used to accommodate a dark ride, but it would have to be a new ride and appropriately themed. Definitely not just an existing ride relocated! -

But according to Dreamworld, it won't JUST be an events venue. It will be a HOT new corporate events venue (also known as an empty shed most of the time, which park visitors are locked out of). To the average tourist that is surely far more exciting than a mere exhibition of an internationally famous racing car drivers cars and awards, accompanied by related interactive games and merchandise, no? -
But most theme park fans will be happy to hear your news.

Projection mapping doesn't involve screens! -
Maybe they think that's part of the. ......... Actually no. I got nothing!

I have to give them half a point for honesty!

Ok. I did wonder if I'd got it right. Same applies though!

Ok. Well it sounds like she has a following, so fair enough! I'm having a bit of fun! There is a serious side to my comments though which I've already said numerous times and so have others. Just very sad to see Sea world in its current state, knowing how awesome it used to be.

Whoever she is!

Perhaps they should convert it into a permanent version of "Dismaland", and maybe rename the park "Piss Weak World" (with corporate sponsorship if possible from the producers of the original Piss Weak World in "Fast Forward"). They wouldn'tneed to do much really. Just stop hiding all the parts of the park that are disused, and make them highly visible. Frequent ride stoppages could be deliberately increased, thus saving on operating costs and rather than guests finding them a disappointing nuisance, they become a big part of the fun! Sell even lower quality food at even higher prices for another similar effect! It's an Australian cultural comedy park and I think it could really work!

Unfortunately the company I used to work for was like this, and ironically they called it "Empowering our people" in their grand mission statements and board meetings! I was in a pretty senior position and responsible for the safety of millions of dollars worth of buildings, equipment, and stock. However I had absolutely NO budget directly under my control for anything. Not even for essential maintenance of above property! I was very much empowered to write reports, make recommendations (sometimes even to strongly recommend certain actions), and to send these by email to a long list of people, most of whom took absolutely no notice of them, and many of whom wanted to carry out my recommendations, but were restrained either by lack of funds, or by company policies prohibiting them from doing so! That's the modern version of empowerment! -

I'm not going to criticise them for closing something that they're not 100% certain is safe.

Oh dear! Here they go again! Granted it's not a song specifically for or unique to Warner Bros, or Movie World this time. But surely Dreamworld execs who must have approved this have at least seen the daily parade that Movie World's been doing for years and years! There are literally thousands of other suitable songs they could have used.
