  1. Putt Putt has had some renovations in the last few years, as I think it didn't look as shabby when I was there earlier this year than it had a few years before that. There are 3 different courses, the theming is slightly different between them. I quite like the waterways one. I've also bought the multi-game ticket, and gone a long time between games. ETA: One of my kids favourite things to do on holidays at the Gold Coast is ride the old carousel in the Broadbeach mall. I'm also quite fond of Hard Rock Cafe Surfers Paradise, particularly their burgers and share platters. We're going to iFly in the next few weeks, so I can come back and give some feedback on that one.
  2. It was an amazing, immersive ride. I went on it the Summer it opened, and then again not too long before it closed.
  3. I had this proposed water park on the Sunshine Coast pop up on my Facebook today - https://au.be.yahoo.com/travel/a/33322436/sunshine-coast-epic-water-park-yahoo7-be/#page1 Is this one legit?
  4. I really hope they get fresh water in that coaster after each ride.
  5. I don't remember that one, I always went to the one opposite Miami High when I was staying down the coast as a kid.
  6. I think that, and the Dragon coaster at Tops would count as my first coasters.
  7. Updating myself: just had my mum take a couple of photos of the old photos, she's not very technological, so they're a bit crap, and I'll try myself when I get my hands on them, but here's a sample: I had a seriously bad 80s kids haircut btw.
  8. I'm pretty sure it was themed as an alligator. I'm sure there's some photos of me at about 4 years old riding it, i'll see if I can track them down.
  9. Good review. I can't believe I'd never heard of the fact there was once a Luna Park in Redcliffe.
  10. Pokemon Go. I'd normally just browse Insta or FB, I find it hard to stare at a little screen playing a game.
  11. Viking was definitely one of the first 'non little kid' rides I put both my girls on, probably both were about 3 years old. The other being the Road Runner coaster at Movieworld. ETA: I also don't think I've ever been to Sea World without a huge queue for this ride, I know there's limited choice, which is some of the reason, but it still seriously pulls a crowd.
  12. It makes it seem substantially more worse now how the media jump on every small theme park incident looking for a story, for example, a mid-ride stoppage and evacuation on Storm - and as it's mentioned here "everything was working as is should be", and now these non-events are being used against the safety of the parks. Edited, as I also offer my condolences to friends and family members of those involved, and the staff and general public that witnessed the tragic event.
  13. So it'd definitely be an 'older kids' ride then, which I think is great, and definitely fills a gap in the park, however, my 8 year old who *would* go on it, wouldn't be able to, as she's too short still.
  14. Apologies if it's already been asked up thread, but what's the height restriction on it?
  15. Maybe they're running an experiment to find out how long before a fence is erected before it gets a mention here.
  16. This bump gave me a laugh regarding my comments of nearly 3 years ago. Thankfully we're past the bathroom urgency issues now haha. I haven't been to any parks in a few months, but as far as I can remember, not much has changed as far as bathrooms go in the last few years.
  17. I went to South Bank on Sunday, and saw heaps of people playing along the river.
  18. I had so many people re-post various Disneyland rumours over Facebook last night.
  19. I can think of two instances, outside of TOT. LTRR at Movie World - the waterfall before the end didn't switch off, everyone drenched. I'm pretty sure we got tickets to come back another day. Splash Mountain at Disneyland (1990), the log boat stopped just before the big drop, and we had to evacuate. I was 8 and absolutely petrified.
  20. I haven't been on ToT2, but have been on it when it was just ToT, and had a few failed launches, and was able to re-ride.
  21. I'm thinking the UFO is vaguely familiar, was it a petrol station for a while in the 80s?
  22. Just counting rides in local parks that are still operating: Favourites- Wild West Falls Superman Escape Least favourites: The Claw. It's my nemesis, it totally messed with my perception of what was the ground, and what was the sky. The Big Red Car Ride. Yes, I typically travel with its target audience, and even they thought it was lame. I actually quite like MDMC for a family ride (not a thrill ride), it's not a favourite, but IMO not worthy of all the hate.
