Sea World - Creatures from the Deep
JacobSibbald replied to Zanstabar's topic in Theme Park Discussion
You'd only be able to fit a coaster of that scale if they also utilised the reclaimed land. Would be great though. -
Yes, it is your bad. In your initial post you spoke about your inability to ride roller coasters due to your workplace incident. My point being is you are offering advice to a situation which is very different to your own. I am certainly not downplaying your incident, however going to such lengths may not be advised in this situation given the injuries have not been as significant as yours, for example. Anyway, I still believe Movie World definitely has a duty of care and if someone were to seek compensation for whatever reason they have their right to.
-
It's a personal choice, skeetafly. If she doesn't want to seek a lawyer, she doesn't have to. Your personal bias towards the matter has clearly skewed your ability to offer appropriate advice. No one in the car has injuries that compare to yours, and your incident was in no relation to theme parks (using your inability to ride coasters certainly doesn't count).

Thanks ThrillSeekerNoMore (love the name btw), If that's true, go buy yourself a lottery ticket!! Thanks for sharing your personal insight into what seems like a frightening and lengthy ordeal, I couldn't imagine how I would've reacted.

Just asking for some clarification... So you've pretty much come to the conclusion that car entirely derailed and (luck??) was keeping it on the track? That's what I gauged from the photos and last couple of posts. I hope to God my inference is wrong. Scary.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't even want to think about what could've happened if it wasn't stopped (if that's the reason) by the seats in front...

27 Degrees though is a very high number, particularly when considering whether or not it is worth opening the park. Surely there will still be an economic benefit at 25ish...
-
Thanks for the reply Mark (although somewhat late haha) Interesting to see 27 degrees in there, Perthians have certainly acclimatised to warmer weather! Since it was so long ago that I posted this, I completely understand the reasoning now.

A pool for $20-$30k? Backyard pools are more than that...

Disney exploring Australia as a Resort option again?
JacobSibbald replied to Mort's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Furthering this, Disney have opened shop for three days at Hisense Arena with what I believe is the first meet and greet with Baymax outside of the Disney parks... -
Disney exploring Australia as a Resort option again?

Have you seen Tokyo DisneySea? -
Let's be honest, Melbourne has one of the worst array of parks around. Fun Fields has better slides, Adventure Park is better though in my opinion (atmosphere?). Watermarc is also apparently great.

Who cares if you still have always had good interactions with staff? It obviously still happens. I've had some unpleasant interactions with staff members who seem to be just as fed up with the no loose items policy as we all are. I've also had an awkward/careless interaction with a cast member when I was doing Magic Kingdom alone, who screamed "ONE PERSON!? IS THAT ALL!?" in front of everyone behind me, leaving me significantly embarrassed.

When I was there in December, I wouldn't go 10 minutes without hearing an Australian accent - we were everywhere! -

There is also a world first Cinderella exhibition currently at Chadstone... It's an awesome thought and a DVC resort is certainly feasible, maybe not in Melbourne, but definitely in QLD. -
What rides have you gotten stuck on, or have seen broken down?
JacobSibbald replied to Jacko's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Got stuck on a couple of rides whilst at Disneyland/Disney World recently. Disneyland: Space Mountain - we were at the end of the ride so we didn't get to ride again, or see it with the lights on. California Adventure: I wasn't on it, but California Screamin' failed on the second hill in the middle of a downpour, people were evacuated. Disney World: Space Mountain: broke down whilst I was on peoplemover, got to see it from an outside perspective with the lights on. Pirates: Stopped for about 10 minutes before the drop, lights came on for about half of that time Big Thunder: Stopped halfway up the lift hill, was evacuated. Carousel of Progress: Not sure what happened here, but it didn't spin after one of the scenes so watched it twice before being spun to the next scene. I believe that's all. -
Go Pro's On Movie World Rides

Are there different safety standards in the US (Disney) or is it just because most of the Disney rides aren't as thrilling? (Although Everest, Tower of Terror, California Screamin etc still allow them) -

Girl dies after being thrown from Royal Show ride
JacobSibbald replied to Slick's topic in Theme Park Discussion
"She was hanging by her legs off the ride, trying to block herself. She went flying through the air about 10-15 metres up in the air and I started sprinting towards her," she told News Corp Australia. If you have time to gauge she was hanging trying to block herself, I assume it would be at least 5-10 seconds? It will begin to slow down, even if she fell when the ride was at a reduced speed she may have been able to survive. Just a thought. -
Girl dies after being thrown from Royal Show ride
JacobSibbald replied to Slick's topic in Theme Park Discussion
A witness said that it didn't happen instantly, rather she was hanging by her legs for a short period of time before she fell. What was stopping an emergency stop? -
Yes both parks. If you've been to the other Disney parks, don't expect there to be a whole lot of roaming characters or overly nice cast members. I only saw one character and plenty of rude staff members on my visit.

Disneyland Paris can be done in a day - if you go on a weekday. Didn't find it as lively as Disneyland CA though. If you're into Harry Potter, the studio tour is a MUST see.
