Triple Vortex now open at WhiteWater World
downunder196 replied to lolman123's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I think there's the 3 and 3+, I've seen the specs but a lot of the figures don't mean a thing to me. -
- I found that plane 3 (furthest away from the pole in the 2nd row) works best. - When the planes first unlock have the left wing down, right wing up and lean left. - Gain momentum and by the time you fly through the 'station' the first time you should have done at least 1 360. - Once you do a full revolution don't stop leaning that direction and don't move the wings from their up/down positions. - I have had out of control spins in both directions so I haven't found neither to work best, just depends what your first full 360 is. - I found it easiest to gain momentum when the arm is moving back down towards the loading area. That's all the tips I can give for spinning out of control. It isn't easy but the main thing is to be patient, too fast and it's impossible to gain momentum. In my personal opinion I think they should have some sort of graphics in the queue to explain to guests the basics of spinning because nobody seems to have the slightest clue. EDIT: I just came across this online: Wouldn't it have been great if they could have gotten another 12 planes on the other end of the arm.

Do you have any recommendations in terms of which model to get? -
I think he might mean that's how long the device makes you wait for. But the single rider queue is completely understandable.

I thought they were all uptight about taking anything on any ride/slide. I don't have a GoPro though, have looked into getting one though. Off topic question, which would be the best option with GoPro and accessories which isn't too expensive? Going to the states at the end of the year and would be good for getting some footage. -

I'll be heading back out to Dreamworld & White Water World on Tuesday so I'll see what I can do about photos. Not sure how you expect a POV though. -
How long were the lines for the ride yesterday?
-
I don't find the trains too bad, but the thing still shakes like crazy, especially through the two barrel rolls.
-
If I can't post my photos here from Flikr then I guess I won't post them here at all... They won't disappear before I disappear.

Here are a few more pictures from yesterday: They have introduced a number of bollard poles around Ocean Parade. No idea why but they do look nice. The Coffee Bean is open on Main Street. They've done a good job with it. The inside is nice too. The offerings are also a step up from the usual burgers and fries. Little Puff now looks lonely next to the train station.

I have a few shots from Dreamworld. A couple I posted in the Dreamworld thread but oh well, I like them.

Dreamworld Update: September 19, 2014 Yesterday I was out at Dreamworld for the passholder event on Tailspin and I got a few pictures of what's happening around the park. Hope this settles some questions you may have. Ocean Parade has a new lease of life with all the updates that have gone on. It really feels like a totally new park compared to a year ago. The Claw looks great. So does Wipeout! You can get pretty close to the ride. New queue and locker house is also looking good. But the reason for the visit... Tailspin! 90.9 Sea FM was out for the day. The ride looks great from all angles. The theming looks great. With the official opening being today, the queue never got longer than 25 minutes. The ride well and truly passed my expectations, it has become one of my favourites in the park. Hope you enjoyed the update, if you have any questions feel free to ask. I will post a part two soon.

Yeah the fact that you pick your thrill and physically have to make it happen makes the ride more enjoyable for me. I saw parent swap happen easily without impacting the capacity of the ride. There's a little holding area next to the queue where 1 parent can wait with the child while the other rides. Then the kid exits with the parent who just rode and the parent accompanying the child in the holding area gets to ride. I didn't see any new TV's around the park at all so not sure what's happening with that and I'm pretty sure Triple Vortex didn't open at all today although I'm not 100% sure.

It's a combination of turning the wings (1 up and 1 down) and shifting your wait. It's like swing your legs on a swing set you have to be patient with leaning in the opposite direction so you get the most momentum. Eventually you roll once and you stay still an the thing just keeps rolling like crazy until the ride ends. Barely anyone was rolling (1 every 2 or 3 cycles if you were lucky) so when someone got the hang of it wveryone watching thought it was hilarious. Most people ride it as a kiddy ride which is fine.

I was out at the park today and got quiet a few photos that I'll put up later tonight. The 'ERT' for passholders on Tailspin only lasted till 11am when it opened to the public. Great ride once you get the hang of spinning the planes (which is easier said than done) and the line never got longer than about 25 minutes. Also found that the single rider queue is considerably slower and they make everyone aware of this which is good. Plane 3 (outside of the 2nd row) seemed to be the money seat for spinning, well for me anyway. Hopefully I'll have some photos up later tonight but I have a bit of stuff I need to do first.

Well I just booked the Ultimate Terror Tour for opening night! I'll see what I can do about photos/video for you guys who can't make it. Also, from what I've read the Terror Tour is only for like 15 people each night so only limited people will have the fast tracks, so the stand alone fast track tickets won't be for rides to keep the lines manageable.

I find it's quicker and easier at WWW. In the colder months anyway.

Girl dies after being thrown from Royal Show ride

I'm not saying it's the cause of the tragedy but I rode on the ride last year and the restraints are absolutely horrendous. So much so that I despise of that ride and refuse to ride again. While they go over your shoulders and down into your lap they are quiet narrow and there is nothing on the sit which goes up between your legs like most rides. Not speculating on what happened just stating what I remember from the ride. -
I know it's not new but this is the first time I've ever come across it. What do you think of the whole roller coaster zip line 'ride'? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iwagzrk45iw

Why Australia has such horrible thrill rides?

Your point about Cedar Point is very correct, same as most other US parks but... I recently got a Six Flags season pass for US$80 which is good for what like 14 parks? You do the math. -

When you get a meal deal you have to pay extra to get water instead of soft drink
