"Brand New" Thrill Ride Officially Announced Spinning? Dropping? Smiling? It's official... A Brand New ride IS COMING!!!! No word on what it is yet... And it looks like Luna Park themselves don't know what to get yet. They're asking for suggestions.
-
Good news... Bodes well for future developments and rides! Speaking of the Cinema Division though, Can someone up there in the Advertising department notify their Victorian arm that the Cinema on Russell Street is actually no longer called Greater Union(it's Event Cinemas now!)... For what seems like years it's been still called "Greater Union" in their listings! Goes to show how much they care about that partnered "classic 80s multiplex". The slow decades long "lets pretend it doesn't exist" kill-off continues. The only reason it still exists is because of the internal political machinations of Australian Theatres, the now defunct Bourke Street Village, and the property value to Event. It's painfully obvious they're "sitting on it". Otherwise it would have become a fully featured refurbished Village by now, instead of being visually stuck in 1978..

The park does seem to be spending a little bit at the moment though, and also has a new forecourt now that looks much better than before. They have refurbished their Motion Simulator and rethemed it as "XLR8", it reopens in "a few weeks", so hopefully that significant downtime means a new set of videos(and hopefully a better screen too)! The Paintjob looks really nice. Hopefully this period of "a little spending" means they have a bigger plan somewhere down the track. Personally if I was to argue for a classic ride to return, I'd love to see the River Caves reimagined as an enclosed Logflume about the size of Pirates Revenge. Would be cool if they also got rid of the park offices and built a new office/staff site.... Those old Buildings look pretty bad these days.

Luna Park Sydney - the future with Wet'n'Wild

Fine. -
Yeah, but a permanent home at LPM for one may mean the seller could get a new ride to put on Circuit and fill the space vacated. So it's really not bad if that happens. Or at least it's "not all bad"

No, I mean't "if a similar situation occurs in Melbourne". Should have said "And Adventure World if a similar situation occurs in Melbourne". -
Good. I won't speculate about what is coming. Got no idea. Could be a coaster(still got the Metropolis space), could be a "classic LPM ride reimagined", or a newer flat ride. Lets wait and see.

Looks like it is. -
Cyclone does fit the theme..... Cleaver use of Facebook in that ride "teaser".

Actually 400,000 is the inclusive figure. Doubt the Perth Show would draw more than the Melb one, and as I said, ours is 500,000.

And Adventure Park in Melbourne... -
Melbourne was 500,000 in 2010. Usually hovers around that half million mark. Attendance was expected to be lower last year, due to shitty weather all 11 days. They predicted 460,000. Not sure what the final figure actually was.
-
Anyone know how the attendance figures of the major shows compare?

Well it is this year! So forgive my confusion... Lol! Yes I remember that it was MKR now. Probably posted about it here last year! Enjoyed it alot. I wonder if their securing of Masterchef is the reason why Seven is offering a new Deal Show in the Dome this year?

Yep!

Well you don't have Barry Humphries and Geoffrey Rush! LOL! http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/victoria/barry-humphries-witty-plea-not-to-ruin-flinders-st-station/story-fni0fit3-1226699035073 -
My windows phone refused to let me search for Kevil! Kept on searching for Kevin Hill, even with the "(exact search) parameters. Had to load up the Bing webpage to finally see it!

I was using it as a hypothetical to explain to Sydneysiders the most likely situation that will occur in Melbourne given the Avalon proposal is the only one with any steam at the moment. Linfox owns LPM and also the land where a new Theme Park is still being proposed. It is a very different situation. Adventure Park may suffer though. -
Track was still purple at LPM though.

Well that's interesting. Incidentally Kevil is a famous haunted town in Kentucky in the USA. So that's obviously where the name comes from. Frankly I thought he was actually relating one of the Ghost stories to do with that town! lol!
-
...Codename. Keeping the actual theme hidden.

Just looking at the Ekka and Sydney ride lists. Dang I wish we got that 9-D cinema attraction in Melbourne, would be an interesting and diffrent attraction to me. Doesn't appear on the ride page, so I don't think it's coming down south... damn. Melbourne's ride lineup is pretty average(year-in, year-out... pretty much the same boring rides.. but I still love riding a few of 'em). Only two regular coasters, Crazy and Taipan(both also go to Sydney) and pretty much the same rides as the Sydney show, with only one or two diffrences, and Sydney generally having a few more rides(including that 9-D cinema). Our Entertainment lineup, thanks to the still very new enclosed "Entertainment Dome" showstage, is great though. I loved the Masterchef live show last year(Masterchef returns this year, but now in it's own pavillion), and this year apparently a Deal Or No Deal "Live Experience" is new here as well. Beats a Rikki Lee Concert anyday of the week!

The fact is, the park most likely to be affected by the opening of a new Theme Park is Adventure Park in Geelong. If you think a park opening in Avalon is going to affect a heritage protected Linfox owned inner city, park, I think you are dreaming. Most likely any new Melbourne park is going to be on Linfox land(at Avalon Airport) at the moment, and they OWN LPM also. LPM would most likely BENEFIT from a new park, Business wise. That's like if Wonderland had of been on land owned by the company that also owns LPS. I fail to see how that doesn't give leverage.
