Adventure World 2015 - 'Mi2' Kraken Tornado slide
Adam C replied to Tim Dasco's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Thanks Mark, are there any developments re increasining the capacity of the chairlift? I seem to recall last season riders got on every other chair due a lack of riders coming down. Personally, I think the walk from the back of the black widow isn't that far so I'd encourage the able bodied to work off their lunch. Also, are the Platinum pass details due out soon. many thanks. -
shotgun is a slightly different slide as it features two flumes with two double donuts. So unless there is no queue, there will always be 4 riders each time. I'm guessing AW will try their best to fill the tubes where they can. My son & I had to wait for another small group to show before we could ride the 5/6 man raft at Blizzard Beach last year. If it means a 1 hour queue reduces to 40 minutes then it's a no brainer.

Does anyone recall when the AW Platinum pass & its details are to be released? I seem to remember mid August was mentioned.

How do Theme parks make profit from yearly passes?
Adam C replied to Louis.sayer3's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I do think there is a psychological element to choosing a season pass. Usually a season pass equates to two single entries or thereabouts. I'm guessing that theme parks are thinking that some people might only visit once a season and only get $50 off them for the whole year. Now if you think you can come in all year for $100-$130 and you enjoy coming back time & time again, then it's a no brainer and the theme park is getting an extra $80 (+food, etc) X thousands of members then the park has an extra X hundred thousand dollars in the bank that will partially cover wages, electricity, fixed costs, etc. Also when you have a family season pass, you're more likely to invite your kids friends for birthdays, summer holidays and so on. I could go on...... -
We might see the return of the single rider queue. It's used on lots of other rides around the world so wouldn't be a surprise.
-
the article suggests that each raft will be dispatched at a rate of 1 per 24 seconds. I'm guessing 600 people per hour will include 4 riders in every raft.

How about the clip from Pirates of the Caribbean 2 where the Kraken eats the ship & crew on continuous loop? Videos aside, the POTC soundtrack might work well in the background. -
http://www.disneyeveryday.com/tour-of-the-8-million-new-fantasyland-tangled-bathroom-in-disneys-magic-kingdom/ I recently read that the Tangled themed toilets in Walt Disney World cost $8m U.S. dollars. The link gives you a brief tour. My question is, what could or would you buy for $8m U.S. Or $9m AUS?

Typo noted. I'm not sure how to correct it. Perhaps the Parkz guys can correct it for us.
-
I think the willingness probably boils down to whether you think it's good value or otherwise. The last thing the guys at AW want is for the platinum pass to be a failure due to lack of take up. Might is possible that the said pass could offer a slightly more generous deal just to get 100% take up? Also, the website mentioned that numbers are limited so what AW are offering might have a limited capacity. Ill probably hold off on my season pass until the Platinum details are out and then weigh up the pro & Cons. Can't wait though.

There's been a lot of healthy talk over a certain attraction coming to AW this coming season. But what about the rest of the park? What is the Platinum pass? Are any other changes taking place? Will the castle remains remain the same? Is anything leaving? What news on the menu? Are there any plans/ideas to load patrons on to slides/rides any quicker or more efficiently? And what is Mi3? I'm guessing some of our readers may have a finger or two in the AW pie so as they say in Gavin & Stacey "What's occurring?"

Here's some extra info re upgrading to platinum. I'm interested as to what amounts to a misuse of the Platinum Pass. A Season Pass is not transferable and not refundable. A Season Pass is not upgradable to Platinum Season Pass (unless the Season Pass was purchased before the launch of the Platinum Season Pass release scheduled for August 2015, in which case the membership will need to be cancelled, a full refund given and then re-sign up and pay for the Platinum pass. Platinum season passes are subject to availability as a limited sale on a first come basis.). Any misuse of the pass will result in its immediate termination. -
What's worth checking out at Disney?
Adam C replied to Wil_i_am_not's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I weeks is correct in stating that the WDW parks are very big. You won't do everything but the question is whether you want to do as much as possible. Just get a good nights sleep before and after the event. -

Hi Wll, (not) I went to WDW last September. Albeit for 15 days. All of the advice you've seen is good. However, if you're specifically looking at a 1 day flying visit, I'd suggest the following. firstly, decide on the specific day you intend to do your visit. Different days have different opening hours. The WDW website will tell you. A 2 day pass is the cheapest option at $96 but you'll have to pay an extra $64 to have the park hopper option. A 1 day pass doesn't allow park hopping. The reason I suggest buying your ticket early is that you can pre book fast passes to get on to 3 popular rides without queuing. For a flying visit, fastpass is essential. Anyway, if you're happy with visiting from 9am to 10pm, I'd suggest starting with the Magic Kingdom and get there for 8:30am. The reason I say this is that the Magic Kingadom goes bananas after 12 noon. We went strait to the left side of the park and walked on the Thunder & Spalsh mountains, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle boat ride and Haunted mansion with no queue. We also booked the 7 Dwarfes mine train and Space mountain on our fast passes just after lunch. These 2 rides have regular huge queues. Sleepy hollow diner is very American. Try the famous presidential sweet and or a funnel cake with ice cream. The dining area is under the shadow of the Cinderella Castle. Next door is the hall of presidents. Worth it for the very American experience. In light of time, I'd leave the MK by 1or 2pm and head to EPCOT. Book Test track for your fast pass. I'd avoid Universe of energy (unless your an Ellen DeGeneres fan) as it takes about an hour to go around. Spaceship Earth, Soarin & Mission space are the better rides in future world. As for world showcase, take time to experience all of the countries. China, France & Canada have short movies on show. The American adventure is a 30 minute theatre show about American history, although the war of 1812 doesn't get a mention anywhere. I'd recommend Germany for eating. It has a BBQ buffet with chicken, hamburgers and sausages with salads & side dishes etc. and very nice beer. You don't need to wait 30 mins for your food to arrive. Now as for time and how long the parks are open until, you may want to squeeze in Hollywood Studios. The 3 main rides are Star Tours, Tower of terror and rock'n rollercoaster are the 3 main draws. They are much quieter towards sunset. Also the Fantasmaic fireworks & lazer show is much better than the EPCOT fireworks and you get to sit down in a giant arena opposed to standing. Finally, if MK is open until 11pm or midnight you may want to return to see the night parade. It's really empty as all of the kids have long left. Don't forget your camera. I hope this helps. Have a nice day! -

On the issue of the weeds, how, about a dye for them? Black, purple or blood red? The whole grass area could be dyed. Also, the dark area could have noise added. Eg wind chimes. The wind generator could be icy cold. Finally, how about a smell generator? Possibly something bitter. -

Perhaps as a Pilot, the initial run could be run for members. I know Perth zoo have done sleepover parties in the past. Good idea though. -

Hi Noxegon, I stand corrected. At the time, I remember the Sun newspaper running an article saying the Black Hole was going to Brazil and mocking their H&S. Perhaps they were confusing the yellow & blue football kits. It was a good ride though. Going back to the original topic of the new attraction, I noticed that the hill on which Rocky Rapids, Mats & Tunnel of terror is called Water Mountain. Will or should the hill for the new flume (which is bigger) have a name. Mount Gushmore (Wdw) and Mount Splashmore (Simpsons) are taken. Mount Meharry is the highest mountain in WA. I'm sure if a link could be squeezed in, it might give it a distinctly Australian feel. Mount MeHydro or Mount MeSplashy. Maybe a copy of Mount Rushmore at the top with casts of 4 famous Australians for a photo opportunity. Kylie, Dame Edna, Ned Kelly & Thorpedo. The latter is obviously open for discussion. -

Turbo Mountain was already 2nd hand, bought from Luna Park in Sydney. There's nothing online to say what happened to it but you'd have to consider how much it was worth and how much it would cost to ship it somewhere else. Especially as Perth is miles from anywhere. The Black Hole ride in Alton Towers, UK made me smile when it failed a H&S review and got sold to the Brazillians who had no problems with it. It had a spiral lift with no way off if it broke down. -

Hi all, I'm new today and would like to say that Mark makes a very good point re punters choosing how to spend their $s on things like the Royal show etc. I went to the Royal show in 2011 and spent more in 1 day than the cost of a season pass at AW. So I give my kids a choice. Needless to say its a no brainer. Also I took the family to WDW in Florida last month. There were lots of times i thought this would be good at AW but none more than Teamboat springs at Blizzard Beach. Something like that would be as big as the Abyss. As for the Castle, my wish list would have a flume ride replacing the whole lake. At AW, getting soaked isn't a problem. Onwards & Upwards!
