  1. I'll admit when I first saw the pictures I was disappointed too. Seeing it action it's not that bad, and it at least takes the course quite slowly. The only I issue I have with it is the concrete trough looks a bit bleak. Hopefully it'll get some attention when it goes down to allow for more construction.
  2. I've been on many subways that don't have OTSRs, but you can't get rid of them because it doesn't fit with the theme. I'd say the same thing for conveyor belts, although I think it's an unworkable soloution for different reasons. I think if lockers were free like they would be at a real theme park then there wouldn't be an issue. I also don't agree with not letting people back in line if they're made to put stuff in a locker. This is the entertainment/customer service industry, not centre link, punishing guests who may honestly have not known better is not acceptable. EDIT: Sorry Gazza, missed the top of that quote, thought you'd brought up themeing, I was wrong
  3. Some not good enough quality for a proper Parkz update photos The show building/show shed. What ever you want to call it Nothing Left of the Bermuda Platform The Flume ride has (for the time being at least) reopened The course is now a bit shorter, and the trough has been removed from it's old path between the palm trees and Jet Rescue The concrete trough is a bit bleak and the pool fencing in the area looks like vomit, hopefully just a temporary setup for the school holidays and it'll look better when the area is finished. In other news, there are footers EVERYWHERE!! Included this photo to make them look intrusive, but they aren't that bad in reality . Props for going to the effort to but temporary plywood boxes around the footers. Around the side of the building... wow, so many things going on here, click to enlarge. Where the big head you used to go under was. You can see some of the old trough on the right of the picture Basiclly the same thing again. So yeah, hope you enjoy the photos, have a nice day
  4. Do they? I'm confused..
  5. This paragraph seems eerily familiar...

I'm kinda with reanimated, that is both one of the lamest, and one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Full marks to the bloke, I guess it is pretty epic.
  7. MickeyD: World's of Fun had an indoor version called Cyclone Sam's. I didn't know what the ride was when I queued up, and when I got inside I was really disappointed to see it was effectively a Stingray clone. Well, as along with the improvements that come by putting a ride indoors, it was running a really intense cycle (which I'll admit I didn't know those rides could even do), and I reckon it is probably the ride which has surprised me most out of everything I've been on. Fantastic little ride.
  8. It's true, Shock Therapy does sound rather cool. I like 'The ride' as a suffix better than 'Alien Invasion' because it gives away less about the ride. It's the same as our Bermuda Triangle was merely called 'Bermuda Triangle' where as in Geany it's called 'Bermuda Triange - Alien Encounter'
  9. This is the sort of ticketing option I've been talking about for a while, give away some extra perks for those that are willing to pay for them. It also seems like its a 12 month pass instead of the 'season pass' that the VIP pass is, so this is something different. The next step is to hold the price of the VIP pass and add some block out dates so people coming in the busy periods have to buy the more expensive (but still good value) pass. And while they're at it, they might consider renaming the VIP pass so people don't think they own the place.
  10. Here's the deal, if this topic is still active with people talking crap, tomorrow, I'll temporarily close this topic to give people some time to cool their heads. I agree with the last two posts, no one wants to read it, and it must stop. Now.
  11. ^ True, and that is quite an interesting thought, but I don't think Speedys is worth hanging onto for that reason.
  12. Don't believe everything you read on Wikipedia. For starters the reservoir/catchment that the Rapids Ride runs along wasn't built until years after Rocky Hollow opened. Just so we're clear on this: The catchment for the rapids ride is in the middle of the rapids ride, the catchment for the Log Ride is underneath the last part of the ride. Bugger me, are some people really speculating on what sort of reservoir setup a totally imaginary ride may or may not have, based on what a completely different park owned by a different company isn't doing with their rides? That's a new low guys.
  13. Queues which are inside (IE Have a roof): Justice League, Superman, Arkham, Scooby, Wild West, Dodgem Cars. Queues which are outside and have decent shade: Batwing, all the rides in WB Kid's, Green Lantern, HSD Queues which have no cover: ? Like I said, almost all the queues have roofs, only they're not themed, and there is no ceiling. I'd suspect that's due to to the cost of installing fire suppression equipment. Now, as punishment for making me list all the queues in the park which have roofs, this thread is now closed.
  14. Almost all the ride queues have roofs, I think you mean ceilings? Don't know, but if I were a betting man, I'd put a fair chunk of money on it being to do with the huge cost of installing fire suppression equipment in ceilings.
  15. I'm thinking scrap it, it was cheap filler when it went in, and the park has outgrown it. I can't express enough just how much I think Speedy Taxies makes the park weaker. The capacity, the amount of space it takes up, and the limited appeal (it's just for kids between 3 and 10) and the fact that it's the sort of cheap attraction that you'd expect to see at a roadside tourist trap all combine in my mind to make it a prime candidate to end up on the chopping block. Lethal cinema isn't a bad idea. I'd say do it properly and level the inside of the cinema and the ramp to make it a bigger space. The only issue with having it there though is how you would have the entrance be representative of what's inside, without jarring with the Arkham theme, so probably between Superman and Studio Admin would work better. Wouldn't even need much of a facade, just has to be a nice building that fits and I reckon it'd do the trick fine.
  16. Haven't seem the Universal one, but if it helps, in my head I'm imagining it being good
  17. Alas I don't know. I reckon it'd be pretty awesome if you could convert the area above the emporium/ops office into a useable space, and have a ramp up there by the old upgrade booth, but I fear we'd be talking mega bucks to do that. Probably somewhere off the Superman plaza, so either in the heilix, or between Superman and studio admin might work though. I'm really not picturing anything to massive here, just a small building where people can wander around and have a look at real movie memorabilia, and small set mock ups. Anyone who has done the WB studio tour in LA might be able to picture what I'm seeing, as they have a museum as part of the tour. Oh, and I don't care if I'm a monster. Such a low capacity, low grade piece of crap attraction like speedy's doesn't deserve to exsist at a shopping center never mind a proper theme park. If kids want to drive, Taz's Hollywood cars still exsist. Honestly, I'd rather see Speedy's be turned into a shady expanse of benches, and see a new ride go into Rocket Ride's old location.
  18. I think a walk through 'museum' type attraction is something the park should actually look into. But not in the toons building. Honestly I'd think somewhere as close to the entry of the park as possible, with displays of props from Movies as well as set mock ups from things that may have been filmed in the studios. It'd be quite cheap to build, cheap to maintain, and would give the non-riders something to do while the rest of their group goes on the big rides. As for the tunes building, I think 1 of two things should go in there: a collection of kiddie rides, or whatever the biggest, highest capacity family thrill ride (less intense than wwf, but a bit more adventitious than river ride) will fit in. Relaunch the area by replacing a few of the outdoor rides (starting with Speedy Taxies) and IMHO they'd be on a winner
  19. I got an iPhone quality video of the parade the other night, the Snow Queen shows up in the first couple of mins
  20. I know I'm flogging a dead horse but I think they could go a long way towards fixing the perception of over crowding by moving the ice skating out of the central plaza. Considering the whole event is based on entertainment in that small space I'd have thought having as much of it free as possible would be a good idea. I'm not saying get rid of it (so long as people are spending money there's no hope of getting rid of it), but it should be moved somewhere else in the park (near superman, or in the now blocked off entrance to Lethal Ally. That would take a lot of pressure off main street and I think would really help with the over crowding.
  21. Including historical re-enactments with movie tie ins:
  22. That and the decision not to build a park may have been made after 5 studies revealed it to be unviable?
