Sea World Storm Coaster construction 2013
Well the article suggests Sea World will have a new atteaction in Spring. If that's true you'd have to think that it would be the other attraction where the pirate ship used to be, not the water coaster.

Goodbye Hollywood Stunt Driver?
It's nothing personal, I just didn't think the post was interesting. I wasn't going to say anything else, but since you've already had a cry about being targeted, I will say that in all honesty it was a pretty stupid thing to mention. If you've got anything else to say about the topic, feel free to say it, but I'll delete anything off topic. I haven't got the time that everyone else has to argue with you.

Goodbye Hollywood Stunt Driver?
^ You and I have very different ideas about what is interesting.

Goodbye Hollywood Stunt Driver?
If it's true it's news to me. The thing about the rumour that rings true to me though is that HSD is famously a very expensive show, so I wouldn't say never. As for not being a Super Great Show I will defend it in this way: It is probably more watchable than Lights Motors Action, even with the difference in budget. Obviously it's no where near as spectacular as LMA, but comparing the 2 I think HSD is the better "show". Unfortunately for HSD, the show it gets compared to is PA, which was both more spectacular and a better show. It'll be interesting to see what happens to the sets if they do replace HSD with another show.

Possible New Coaster for Luna Park Melbourne?
A new Boomerang however, better.

Scenic Railway Counterweight
$30million???? I know Senic World isn't the park for it, but imagine the sort of coaster that could buy you. I'm sure you could demolish Orphan Rocker and start again for $5M. Senic Railway must be worth a ton of cash in business to be worthy of that much for an upgrade.

Constrictor for Wet 'n' Wild
Sounds like constructor from WnWP

Very right. A significant number of people go to the theme parks instead of the Ekka/ Gold Coast show. Weekends in general are pretty crazy these days but that'll be especially true when the Ekka is on.

Constrictor for Wet 'n' Wild
Mammoth falls now has probably the highest capacity of any ride on the Gold Coast. In the summer it's queue still can reach the bottom of the stairs. The double open slides in summer are still popular, and as much as a dark Mammoth would be awesome, I just don't think it's worth the hassle.

Sea World Storm Coaster construction 2013
I think if SWO's Journey had a more coherent story line then the water coaster ride system would be significantly more successful. It really is one of the best ride systems going around, but as Djrappa mentioned, no park has delivered a compelling ride based on the hardware. That's where I am with SW's new ride, if it's well conceived and well delivered it'll be in a class of its own and could spur a growth in this type of ride. If its the same as what's already been delivered it'll be a good, but otherwise unremarkable Aussie ride. I've been impressed with everything I've heard of the Justice League ride, I hope SW's new ride keeps the standard of impressively themed VRTP attractions going.

Am I the only one who finds that photo in the article unintentionally hilarious? Oh look, they even put a ring around it..

Old Theme Park Ads
It's kinda strange to consider that in 1997 when Dreamworld built the world's tallest and fastest ride, the park's other two coasters were a custom mouse and a Meisho looper, not exactly the sort of park you'd expect to build such an ambitious ride.

Water coaster bound for Australia in 2013
If Bermuda and the flume ride could live side by side, I see no reason to kill it off on account of being too similar to a water coaster.

Another Dreamworld FAIL !
Not a Dreamworld fail, I feel the need to point this out just in case anyone missed it.

2012 International Additions
What if with River Ride there was an issue with the rockwork (which hangs over the guests) and that would have cost millions to fix? Is that excusable? What if there is a structural or foundation problem with the building? Not that there is anyway of knowing, but you don't know why River Ride closed, so being angry at that, yet being ok with Eureka seems a little biased to me. According to the ever reliable rumormill; the river ride (which was old and due for retirement) was meant to be the home of the Justice League ride, but since Batman was old and also due for retirement and the ride they had in mind was a better fit for that part if the park, they built it there instead. The reality to me seems to be that both rides were due for closure and they replaced Batman first.

Superman Escape Loose Items
Movie World own the lockers. According to an ASX release a couple years ago they spent a million or so to buy them out.

Dreamworld's New Pass!
Yeah but when you consider that the world ends Dec 21 it's not that good a deal.

Dreamworld 5 year plan - a challenge
Given how little clearance there was with that ride I doubt you could use the existing tunnels, hence my idea to gut the inside and pretty much just use the shell. There'd still be a ton of work to do with fire systems but I reckon it'd be more economical than tearing it down or trying to put a wild mouse in there.

Dreamworld 5 year plan - a challenge
Spoken like a modern day Walt Disney. Stuff it I'll play: Really, I don't think there's any merit to the idea of bringing back rides like Eureka, Vortex, Skylink, or even the 'magical bush feel' (whatever that means). To me that sounds like an expensive way of making Dreamworld like it used to be, but not a great way to take the park into the future. The park should not have a 5 year plan to make it the same as it was in the past. Personally I think what Dreamworld lacks more than anything else is a coherent vision for the what the park should be (I've made the same complaint about SW too) and it’s this I think they should address. If I were in a position of authority of Dreamworld, I’d be looking at what they have and what needs to be replaced/removed. While my opinions will differ from others, my take on the park are as follows: Redefine the ‘lands’ the park. Areas like AWE, Tiger Island and Ocean Parade need little or no work. Seriously, those corners of the park are pretty much fine, and changes there need only be cosmetic, and there are other areas of the park which need a bit of redefining first. Gold-rush is the first area I’d start. I think the land needs a bit of re-defining. I’m not talking about anything overly drastic, just setting in stone what the story for the area is, and for the land to also extend down to Rocky Hollow and Giant Drop. Once it’s been properly established, use the Mountain facade as the station to a new full circut adult coaster which travels around the entire land. I don’t think Motocoaster should have a long term future at the park, and I’d have no problems demolishing it and Wiggles World and everything else in the area to make way for a land with a unified theme along the river. Off the top of my head, a township that sits on the edge of a haunted forest could work a treat. Rides could be a family coaster on the Island going through the trees, a haunted house dark ride taking some of Motocoaster’s footprint, and a new indoor thrill ride with a dark theme. Add to that new facilities, and a new streamlined F&B outlet (replacing the 2 that currently sit right next to each other) with an upstairs bar/function venue and hardware to do a nighttime show on the river during Scream-world or future Halloween events and room left over for a future ride. What to do with Blue Lagoon is harder to decide, but I think most people could agree that a new themed land anchored by at least one swiss designed coaster would be a good brief for the future design team.

Captain Sturt Closed at Dreamworld
Thing about the Captain Sturt is that back in the old days you felt like you were going on an adventure. There was no telling what was around the next river bend. Before you got to the show the Captain Sturt took you right into the middle of bush; exactly where you'd expect to find bushrangers. The escapism was really so complete, even the occasional glimpse of the train through the trees added to the overall 'illusion'. Gradually over time that illusion broke down (as it was bound to); instead of passing Model T Fords driving around you passed a yellow roller coaster with a modern theme, with the 120meter tall Giant Drop tower behind it. Impenetrable bushland gave way to the modern Billabong Cafe, and other trees were removed which revealed that rather from in the middle of thick bushland, there was in fact a sporting field just over the fence line. It became possible (and quicker) to walk around the entire 'Murrisippi' river, there stopped being any mystery or interest for the paddle wheeler. In the end it died a death by a thousand cuts. I think it's sad they never tried to re-invent the ride (aside from painting it those horrible colours), maybe putting an exhibition about Dreamworld's history, or some characters on board or just speeding it up. Everyone on here gives there $0.02cents on what they'd like to see happen, so to that end here's my take: If they're not going to bring it back, I'd like to see them paint it neutral colours, and park it around near the Australian Wildlife Experience and leave it open to the public so guests can still have a look around. It'd fit much better there and would allow them to fix the old Rivertown area properly (which starts with the retheme/removal MDMC or letting what's left of the Rivertown theme go). On the upside, the demise of the paddle wheeler does bring up the possibility of putting something on the island. FWIW I don't think a mega coaster because of how it would affect AWE, but you've got to admit a well designed custom Vekoma mine train could sit on the island quite well. As for the other matter in this thread; I'm sad that Goldie and Dreamworld are parting ways; he's one of the great little things that make/made the park great. I won't comment further because for all I know it was Goldie's decision to retire after all these years. If however it turns out however that it was purely a management decision, it's pretty disgraceful.
