Dreamworld's 30th
The fact is that there are as many different opinions on what DW should get as there are rides on the market. Just from Intamin alone the 'one family ride and one thrill ride' could be a heap of great things. How about a new flume ride and a woodie? Or a Giant Wheel and a Mega Lite? A monorail and an Impulse could work? Or how about they get rid of Eureka and turn the Imax cinema into a 'Soarin' over the Gold Coast' ride with a hyper (or aquatrax) coaster taking over Blue Lagoon? There are so many things they can do and no matter what they end up doing there'll be some people who will wish they did something else. On the upside though, just looking at the list above I think there's still plenty of good stuff they can get off Intamin.

Halloween Fright Nights 2010
Frankly I don't think extended trading at SW over the Xmas hols would clash with dive-in-movies. It's not like SW closes at 5 and people go to WnW. Reality is that the locals go home, and the tourists go to Surfers for their evenings entertainment. SW you would think would be in the best position to do extended trading in Jan, (and I don't mean till 7, I mean till 10). They don't have locals to worry about, they're close to all the hotels and have their own which they can draw people from and between the Ski Stadium, Dolphin Cove and Sea Lion have 3 great venues which could all hold nighttime shows. In any case, this is probably a conversation for another thread.

Halloween Fright Nights 2010
MW could have that reserved with the DC parade if that come back. How about 'Not to hot or cold Autum nights'?

Movieworld Expansion
I might be reading this wrong, but it really doesn't sound like a 'park' to me, rather an entertainment complex, and I think when you look at it in that context then it makes perfect sense. While the motor-sport theme is a bit mystifying, (perhaps it's just the go-karts that are motor-sport themed?) it's really a few restaurants, anchored by an arcade and a couple up-charge attractions. Sounds like a slightly more upmarket adrenaline park for locals. Also I don't know how we decided that it was being built on the overflow car-park, but I hope that's not true. Surely it'd be better to turn the overflow car-park into a multi level car-park, and have all these new offerings between the car-park and Movieworld to guarantee some foot traffic. It all sounds like it could potentially be really good, but I think the 2 things missing is a cinema (and come on, Village is in the cinema business) and a hotel. While they're adding things to it, maybe they could put bungee trampolines there and not in Movieworld. Just saying.

Tower of Terror in reverse?
Haha, what a pleasant surprise this is! Welcome to Parkz Kenny, hope you enjoy your stay with us! We may be a critical lot who are impossible to please, but remember that your harshest critics are often also your biggest fans. Look forward to hearing from you!

Shrek Leaving...
Well if it's any consolation, I'm not worried, and in fact am quite looking forward to the change. The real proof of the pudding will be in the eating of course, but I'd probably do the same thing if I were in charge of the park.

Shrek Leaving...
So that one is confirmed. You know, as good as the Shrek attraction was, it's time has well and truly come. While some will see the replacement as a downgrade, the reality is that the Shrek thing is pretty much over, and since it was so reliant on pop culture all along it really hasn't aged well. Bring on a new film I say! As for 3D at the wave pool... God no, what a horrible idea. Glasses distribution and clean up, for an effect that is really just a gimmick? Projector upgrade at WnW isn't a bad thing, but to make it 3D? No thanks. The Oxenford parks have been doing good things of late, this IMHO would not be one.

US Trip - West & East Coaster Questions
Yeah in that case Gazza got it one. Gawzi is the only thing to worry about, Scorpion I thought was pretty smooth. Kumba is intense but not bone jarring, never got on Montu. Hope it helps

US Trip - West & East Coaster Questions
Just to give us an idea, what attractions are you going to be steering your group clear of at Magic Mountain?

WARNER BROS. MOVIE WORLD CELEBRATES DC COMICS 75TH ANNIVERSARY!
The lights CAN go back into the buildings, although more often then not they have been left out. To me it's one of those intangible things; lights left out will never ever effect park revenue, but they should be put away anyway. Having, said that, my feelings about this parade are still overwhelmingly positive, and since I've just said something negative, I'll now say the first 3 positive things positive about the parade that pop into my head: * New floats look amazing. * The parade is much, much better then anything the park has produced for a long time, and is genuinely entertaining. Looks like there's some talent and drive left in house after all * People are still in the park at 5.30. Awesome!

Did TOT used to get all the way to the top?
When I first went on the ride (probably about 6 months after it opened) the car went level with the "R" in the word "Tower". So as far as I've seen, it never went to the top of the tower in normal operation.

WnW 2010: Aqua Loop, Flowrider, Zipline, Skycoaster
So you'll notice that this month the Parkz update only covered Dreamworld and Movieworld. Well that's my fault. After several years of loyal service, my camera finally died while covering Wet 'n' Wild the other day. Never got around to Seaworld, so that will ideally happen in the next couple of weeks. Since I was at Wet 'n' Wild however, I did get a few photos of the Aqualoop construction and Wave pool on my mobile. Not bad, but not really good enough to feature in an article on the main site, so here they are! AQUALOOP Looking straight down where the slides will run. The towers on either side are the evacuation platforms for the top of the loops. This photo gives a good idea of the slant of the loops. A slightly different view of the site The loops will tower over the top of Aqua Racer The will have great visual impact from the front of the park WAVE POOL REFURB The wave pool is being drained for upcoming safety upgrades See the wave pool has been drained Well, mostly drained Finally, a shot of the Endless wave construction

HAPPY 19TH BIRTHDAY MOVIE WORLD!
^ Guessing maths isn't your strong point? Hey, if you've got em, post em! I love old stuff like that!

E-Stops
^ If that is a real manual excerpt (I'm a dubious) then I think the park has a problem. Before pressing an E-STOP make sure you know what it does? WTF? Surely knowing what an E-STOP does is a prerequisite operating a ride (which is why I'd never make a good Claw op...).

SeaWorld's Past
Don't say I never do anything for you Got this photo while doing the last Parks Update, which I think explains the whole thing: Basically the curved bit of track rotates into position and the main track rotates out the other side. Thanks Joz!

WARNER BROS. MOVIE WORLD CELEBRATES DC COMICS 75TH ANNIVERSARY!
Wow, don't know if that was an official video, but if it isn't, they'd be insane to put a claim against it. Good job! Again, and I can't stress this enough, if you want to see what Movieworld can do when they really want to, go see this Parade. I think this and the Xmas stuff they've talked about doing alone warrant the purchase of a VIP pass for any theme park fan. The fact that SW is getting something and WnW is getting something awesome is just an added bonus at this point.

E-Stops
HUSS probably wouldn't have info on Claw, it's an Intamin ride afterall. Oddly enough on a HUSS Piratw ship e-stop cuts off power to the motor, leaving the ship to swing freely, wouldn't surprise me if Claw worked in a similar way. Personally, I'd assume normal stop would be the quickest way to stop the ride

VIP Pass is Back!
The only reason people would buy a DW/WWW pass is because they've just spent a year at VRTPs and want a change. I reckon advertising upcoming attractions now to current VIP holders is a good plan of attack. Curious how they haven't said anything about what Movieworld's doing yet... Oddly enough, I'm a bit more optimistic about this year, I think the fact that they're investing in the parks despite the huge discounts makes me feel that in the case of MW, the worst is over (or in the case of SW, that the park isn't going to get much worse) and hopefully we'll be seeing things improve over this year. Hopefully, I'm proved right

Sea World 2010 (Castaway Bay & Antarctic Penguins)
Was wondering when they were planning on telling people about the Penguins. The one thing I'm curious about is if Castaway Bay is part of Seaworld, or Seaworld Resort. If it's an up charge for Seaworld guests then I'll be seriously pissed.

VIP Pass is Back!
Randy, I've deleted your post about 5 or 6 times now, take a hint and stop spamming.

WARNER BROS. MOVIE WORLD CELEBRATES DC COMICS 75TH ANNIVERSARY!
Now if they're light up Batman masks then we're on to something! Agreed about the Ice Cream give away being a great idea. It's cheap, it's easy, but it really gets the crowd going. They do it during the day parade to but for some reason is more effective here.
