  1. Depends what the park in China ordered I guess
  2. To be honeat I'm just glad it's not a shit storm.
  3. They have 7, tried with 6, failed badly, went to 4 as the default.
  4. It's one of those situations where both things are true; Yes, there are good reasons for it, and management would LOVE it if they were able to run more trains on things. But the result is 2 hour queues across the park. If you happen to be visiting, then that really really sucks, and it's way more the park's fault than it is the guest's fault. It's not trying to claw money back after Covid or a deliberate decision. There wass a real push to get those last 2 closed rides open which didn't happen despite efforts. Both the operations for this holiday aren't where they should be, AND the park cares and are trying to do something about how slammed they are.
  5. Do they not already have a slide where you can though?
  6. Oh wait is the Ferris wheel SBF too? I'll pass
  7. I do have $7500 spare. A part of me is tempted just for the lols
  8. It's more like walking into a standard woolworths tavern and saying 'Why is the steak $50 when at a legit steakhouse in New York it's $25?
  9. I'm not entirely sure what point you're making. It seems to me that you don't think the train adds as much kenetic energy to the park as the monorail does so that being the case you may as well just constantly park it for 15mins at a time. The nicest thing I can say to that is I don't think your position has been properly considered.
  10. I also get this impression. It's been like this for a while, makes you wonder what made them want to get into management of a theme park in the first place. Most of the time I've ever gone to use the train it's been pretty much full, and most times I avoid it. Does make me think that the reason patronage is so low is partly because it's run so poorly. To me that's just overcomplicating things for overcomplicating thing's sake. There is no genuine need for a proper schedule. There's a monorail that's been run a few suburbs over for decades that doesn't run to a schedule and only gives a vauge estimate of the next arrival, and that has worked out rather well. If you feel like you must have a listed departure time, just say 'approx every 10mins' or have a little clock at the station that gets adjusted by the driver. That's how it used to be done, and thats how most places do it. It's so simple, and it would honestly be the first thing I would do if I ever took charge of that place.
  11. I've been saying for years with the modern layout of DW it should just be the Main Station and Wildlife stations. Also don't park for 10mins at Main Station for no bloody reason, just load and unload and keep bloody going.
  12. Reckon I should really watch that. Aside from 'it happened' I know pretty much nothing about the fire.
  13. Given Doomsday is still closed and assuming annual literally means 12 monthly surely it's good for the rest of the year. Things aren't quite that simple though so who knows.
  14. Yikes that's a big one for WWF. Hard to know for sure, but looks like with what else is going on over winter it's closure has had to be delayed a bit this year. Also interesting that Scooby's regular end of year downtime isn't on there yet, so perhaps more to come later in the year.
  15. Ah that's right! I had it my head that it was moved to some second world country and then that park shut down. Got my wires well and truly crossed
  16. Assume that's the Batman from Six Flags New Orleans?
  17. Yeah must admit, I'm not normally a fan of that sort of thing (lighting a closed ride), but I think you're right on this. I've been getting photos from non theme park people who are like 'Woah' and getting all excited for when it does open, so light it up pretty all you like! Wooden coasters do look kind of magic at night too.
  18. Far out DW fanboys, a lot of people have involvement in a project. But someone says Kudos to whoever at VRTP signed off on it, and say well direct your kudos to DW then. Then it's a case of 'No, he didn't sign off on it' and it's like 'Well he was probably involved, and who cares anyway'. Well no one does except for some reason people wanted to attribute the popular thing to their man for what ever reason, and then act like others are being pety for saying 'Nah that's not how it is'. Maybe he put wooden coasters on the radar. Maybe he said 'You should ride this'. Maybe. I've no doubt he had some involvement, but I think declaring him the person who signed off on it and the mastermind of the whole thing just seems revisionist. Realistically though, you've got to question how much sway he would have had, given he was sent off to China to languish around the same time as the contracts would have been being signed. Anyway, that's the end of the discussion who signed off on it. Further comments on the matter will be deleted.
  19. But even then most of those parks are closed for the majority of that. If you're seasonal you announce before haunt to drive pass renewals for next year, like there's a purpose to it. These days the trend is to announce stuff long before the passes are even on sale, so you get no sales boost, and carry no momentum. By the time it's built it's already yesterday's news. In Australia, I think the sweet spot is about 6 months prior to opening for something big; you can tie pass sales to it, and get people who don't buy passes starting to plan a visit. For something like Vortex or any DW flatride from the past 2 decades, a month is plenty.
  20. Controversial thought: this current trend of announcing rides 18+ months out can piss off.
  21. I wonder if they have to pay a fee to show it, where as they would own the Australia film? The change is good, but I think they should really run that Australia film as much as they can, and only bust out the others when it makes sense and you see a boost. If you constantly change the film then you stop getting any kind of boost when you do it, it just becomes expected.
  22. Has anyone who has seen both the Showtime FMX show at WnW and moster trucks at DW have any thoughts comparing them?
