I think Broadbeach to Nerang Station/ Burleigh to Robina/Varsity makes sense, just purely in terms of how complete a network it'd be. If it stops at Metricon, so be it. Agreed on Southport to Labrador too. Southport is only going to get more and more desnly populated, and it's already pretty decent. As for a theme park extension, to be honest I'd rather take a bus from Surfers, and I can't imagine too many people who go to the parks would use public transport. Normally people buy a car before they go theme parks

I'm glad that as a community we mostly didn't engage with the idea that WnW should be moved. No arguments, no rants about why it would be stupid, we all ignored it and got on with our day. I feel like we're growing up.

In defense of the troll; ToT didn't get the same system upgrade that Superman got. They got the backwards car but it wasn't upgraded. Also the stuff about Wipeout is true that they spent a lot on keeping it going when in reality it was knackered. Rocky Hollow wasn't upgraded in any meaningful way beyond the cages, which apparently caused massive damage to the boats. You wouldn't care but Wipeout and Log Ride dodginess was after TRR, along with the DW designed secondary restraint on Shockwave. Wether they're still doing crap stuff like that I couldn't say, but it's fair to say that after the accident they weren't suddenly awesome. As for Sidewinder, I'd have thought it too new for widespread metal fatigue. A few patches here and there that need work on the other hand, would not be a huge shock given how the train bounces around and slams into the rails.

Claw and Giant Drop are the only worthwhile rides in the park these days which is a very depressing thought.

I mean it is an option, but it would be an unreal amount of work to make it not shit, and ultimately it's a lot of money to spend on basically nothing.

I reckon it would have, OH&S would look at MW's practices and gone 'While you're not perfect, the theme parks in house practices are good' so there wouldn't have been the big industry shake up we saw after TRR. Yeah attendance would be in the crapper, but I think it wouldn't be a wake up call that resonated with DW. Probably more along the lines of 'We need to check up on manufacturer's engineering' without really looking at their own. I think a few public comments about how Village were taking action against S&S and revealing the failures that they made might do a lot to win favor with the public. Yes theme parks would still be scary, but so long as S&S is the villan recovery would have been much shorter than DW where it was layers and layers of them being the worst at everything.

The post above is exactly what I'm talking about; people bashed MW when it opened, and defended DW when they did exactly the same thing by bashing MW some more.

I don't get it. When MW reopened it had a heap of stuff closed, so it got bashed. Now DW months later has also opened with a heap of stuff closed, so people are bashing MW. Reality is DW has changed, I'm willing to give 'new' DW the benefit of the doubt for now to see how the new vision takes shape. The plan seems to be to shrink the park, reality is that's probably all they can do with the hole they're in. You cant argue against that walk to the mostly closed Corroboree past closed shit is depressing. Same as anyone walking past the plaza at MW when Scooby was down for those couple of days was depressing. But if for some reason you think what MW did was wrong while saying DW won't do the same thing, and when months later they did do the same thing so you rip into MW again for some reason you need to think about your attitude. Personally, I don't have a problem with either TBH. Reality is what it is right now.
