  1. That's a very nice way of saying 'WNW is both run down and stagnant. Any plans to sort that?'
  2. Oh I love that! It doesn't sound weird when he says 'Rides' in that version 😂
  3. @Naazon I don't understand the argument you're making. Are you saying that Village internally are saying 'We've ruined the parks, let's not advertise them direct and ruin their good name'? I do agree that I'm sick of 'Unprecedented times' and 'In this together' though. @AlexB Why when advertising a fun filled day out would you make people nostalgic for a quiet rainy night in? Also I remember when videos used to have ads on them, I'm not mad at that, think it's a good idea, but remember how that ad made the place look exciting and mentioned the name of the ride and the park it was in rather than an ad for the company that owned the park?
  4. All of the above is pointless if you don't say who he is. Also when I was a kid I went to SW and WnW and MW. Guess what's waaaaay more nostalgic and iconic than a logo on a video.
  5. So the plan is to make people so bored watching the ad that they're going to go the theme parks? Also if you don't know who Clark is, what's the point of him being front and center of the ad? Was the audio recorded in his bedroom via zoom? Are people really going to the parks to pat a Guinea Pig? Really? Who enjoys the slow drawn out speech with slow motion footage? Can we stop pushing Village Roadshow Theme Parks as a brand when the individual park brands are a million times more compelling than the name of the company? Why are they showing ads for something which is meant to be fun and exciting in an ad that's bland and boring? Wow I think I really hate that ad.
  6. So hang on they're doing a snake thing likey they already did once that looked like shit with the a rainbow Serpent, at the same time SW is doing an abstract steel frame thing as the entrance to Atlantis precinct. Is fucking ANYONE trying any more?
  7. Fair play for admitting you read it wrong, a lot of people double down 👍🏻
  8. That's a really strange ending to the post. It comes across as you saw the comment that it'll probably run 1 train as a DW V Village thing?
  9. I don't think any attempt is being made to make it immersive. It's some rides with decorations. You can't do an immersive themed land in the location they're trying to do it, because most of the view is of the back of the Island with the ugly ass shed and the main entrance. Trying to do immersive there won't work, and I don't think they're even trying from what I've seen. I mean the fence around the Ski Lake looks like it came from a really nice busstop at Westfield, but there's nothing 'Atlantis' about it. It's one of the reasons I advocated for a Pier theme years ago, because no matter what you do there it'll be generic, so make the theme generic so it fits and works in the area. If you wanted to do Atlantis as an immersive themed land, Corkacrew's footprint taking over Jet Rescue and the Pirate Ship area would be a better spot for it since you can control the sight lines and pack some proper detail in. It's not the theme I'd go with (I'd make it a 1700's docks theme with rides themed off myths, exploring and adventures), but Atlantis would totally work there. With the New Atlantis it looks like they're going for pleasantly decorated with a loose theme, not immersive themed land.
  10. There's no such thing as a normal weekend, but the park starts feelong 'Busy' from about 4000/5000
  11. You do know a Blue Fire Clone is taking up all the space in the former Gold Rush Country Yeah?
  12. Actually I made a mistake, I read it being about the September holidays for some reason. Yeah I think the water parks should be open everyday year round, but I'll give them a pass on staying closed for all of winter this year. 1000 would be a very quiet day. Like raining off and on kind of day.
  13. I think moving the studios wouldn't happen unless someone else paid for it. I think studios admins is a prime candidate to be moved, as are sound stages 1 & 2 (again presuming someone else pays for it). Also just throwing it out there, Movie World was pure rubbish until Scooby was built, and still througherly shit until Superman was built. I'm old enough that I grew up with SW and DW at their peak, so when Movie World opened I was super excited that there was another theme park! Truthfully I was so dissapointed with how lifeless and boring the place was. Zero kinetic energy, bland everything, small, no big rides and absolutely zero charm. It felt fake, whereas DW and SW were somehow real. SW and DW were both built with passion too, that somehow flowed into the parks. I didn't know what soulless corporate theme park was at the time but MW introduced me to it. Even a few years later when they did get a big ride, it felt really removed from the everything. Lethal Weapon when it opebed added nothing to the excitement of the rest of the park as you couldn't see it from anywhere, and to get too it you had to do a long walk up the alley which was brilliantly themed to a place you wouldn't want to spend time. In the middle of the day there was no shade and I have vivid memories of air conditioning units. The preshow also destroyed any rerideability it may have had and just killed the excitement. Loved the ride as a kid, but the experience was pretty poor. Anyone who wants the good old days to come back at MW seriously was either not born yet and thinks the park was cool because of how different it was, or are looking at it through nostalgia goggles. Most likely they worked there. The MW with Rivals in it is by far the best MW, even when you take into account all the stuff in MW where the replacement was a downgrade. Oh by the way, the complete list of things that were better than their replacements is as follows: Police Academy Batman Adventure River Ride Western Action Stunt show/Maverick. Everything else that closed at MW, the thing that replaced it is a step up. The only thing from the past I'd support is I would totally support them figuring out a way to do a studio tour as a broad appeal, realtively low cost addition to the park in the future. Might need a lot of privacy walls and props on the side of the tram facing away from the studios for when something is filming but reckon it could be done.
  14. Rant time: Where did he pull those 'Half capacity' figures from? 7000 people at MW is hella busy. The idea that it's 'Half capacity' is bullshit. I wouldnt go to MW on a nornal day if attendance was 7000. I shudder to think what 7000 looks like when HSD or Roxy are running at half capacity, no character meet and greets, and no parade (this is based of Disney's plan) and more than likely no Arkham. Something as giving the cars of each ride a quick spray with disinfectant between cycles will blow out cycle times on everything across the whole park. And you want to have 7000 in that environment? Just for perspective; Even something like a Fright Nights or a White Christmas where the park is RAMMED would run close to 7000. 14,000 is something you'd see MAYBE for one or two peak season days in January. Most days even in January would be well under 10,000. Having a cap of 7000 people at MW is basically saying the plan is to return to business as normal. It would be like the Titans saying they'll limit attendance at home games to half of capacity so 13500, even though that's more than the average number of people who go to their games most weeks, and then acting like its a sacrifice and you're being responsoble because the stadium technically can fit 27,000. Similarly, the idea that SW's capacity is 6000 is also simply not true. Weirdly their capacity is way higher than that, so at least there 3000 is a tight cap, but what's the point? It's the roomiest park on the Gold Coast and a few choke points aside, one of the best for social distancing. Oh but they don't draw 5000 people on average so better to give 2000 of their cap to MW so their earlier statements that the parks need to be allowed 5000 a day still add up. You want to know what 'We're taking our role in stopping the spread seriously and are putting in place a serious plan' looks like? Somewhere between 1 and 3 thousand people. Should still be easily profitable (particularly when you don't have to pay staff the first $1500 of their wages a fortnight, meaning the vast majority of staff are actually free or very close to it). You want to know what 'We want to be allowed to operate as normal' looks like? 7000 at MW and 3000 at SW a day. Also someone poke them with a broom and remind them they own WnW.
  15. Alright well you're going to add a water ride, where do you put it? You could put it in Blue Lagoon and have that anchor the area, but look at Movie World to see the result. In winter MW shrinks because there's no reason to go past Scooby. There's a lot of park that barely gets used, so if you're DW and adding a new area of the park, do you make it something that'll barely be used most of the year? That's also based on Blue Lagoon being available to the park. Could go DreamWorks land, but space is an issue. Maybe if you did some extensive reworking you could fit it in. Could also replace Log Ride with a water ride but it's time to reinvent DW. A coaster should go there to replace Log Ride. It gets the thrill rides out of Ocean Parade, and would leave Giant Drop, Steel Taipan, Unknown Steel Coaster and Buzzsaw all on the same side of the park. Where else is left to put it? Ocean Parade. It's a themed land based on water. Duh. The fact it's next to the water park and some guests in that area would be well dressed for a drenching water ride is a bonus, but not the main point. The main factor is it would compliment the rides in Ocean Parade well, add to the theme and succeed in reinventing the park rather than just being a variation on the past. Also a power splash is the wrong ride for DW for now and probably forever. Height restriction is too high, it's too intimidating for the whole family, is too expensive and doesn't add much in terms of kenetic energy. A boomerang is also a poor choice for DW. A boomerang is a great ride for an up and coming regional park, like an Aussie World or the plethora of small parks in Victoria, but it's too low a standard for a Gold Coast park.
  16. Rivals and Blue Fire Clone are the same price because the figures are wrong
  17. Small rustic themed coaster, ideally something from the RMC stable to replace the phyical space Log Ride took up, and a standard Shoot the Chutes in Ocean Parade to replace the role of the Log Ride.
  18. I think a lot of the slides will end up at the smaller regional parks in the years to come as they look to complete their entire proslide catalogue. Fully 6 will probably end up at a Holiday park in somewhere like Coffs or Hervey Bay. Sorry just thought I'd keep my speculation realistic. 🙂
  19. I think a lot of people need to turn off the computer and go for a nice walk in the sunshine. This isn't a storm in a teacup, it's a hurricane in a thimble. Get some perspective about how unimportant this stuff is. For the record, we weren't contacted by anyone, we as a group read the posts and thought it was a dumpster fire. The options were delete the lot, lock the thread or take out as must of the off topic as possible. We went with deleting the posts. We'll go back and restore any that got deleted that were on topic, but it's a tangled mess of shit.
  20. He could do with some external media training, he comes across a bit cold on TV interviews.
  21. Oooh themed precincts!
  22. Does make you wonder if creativity is dead at VRTP
  23. Also Constrictor as an adult slide is kind of shit. I didn't get to ride it for years after it opened and it surprised me how shit it was.
  24. Arkham has around negative 5 months left
  25. I'd love to see the Admin building moved and it's land given over to the park. The Admin building was originally next to the Studio's original entrance (in-between Green Lantern and Rivals) which is the logical place for admin to be. The main entrance for the studios is now behind sound stage 8.
