  1. Flowrider is an upcharge though.
  2. So you think one off shows are better than permanent additions?
  3. DC Rivals is scheduled to be open everyday of the school holidays. That's what Movie World is doing this school holidays. Seriously though the Bat mobile is new for these school holidays and SW is launching a new permanent show. Is that better or worse than getting a reality TV magician in for 2 weeks? Guess that depends.
  4. Trolling. Ignore it.
  5. Maybe they have a customer pre booked for some time next month?
  6. I read the statement from Dreamworld again; 'What were you doing in 1993?' I wonder if anyone remembers what DW was doing in 1993? I'll give you a run down; in the years leading up to 1993 DW was sold to a new owner. The new owner siphoned money away from Dreamworld to fund other things (mostly a lavish lifestyle and fast cars for the owner). By the early 90s the place was on the verge of going under due to lack of investment and mismanagement. In a bid to save the park, a new ambitious ride was installed; Wipeout. That ride captured the public's imagination in a big way, and almost single handedly saved DW from closing. Twenty five years later with Wipeout closing, DW staring down both barrels and DW themselves asking 'what were you doing in 93', wouldn't it be nice if someone at Ardent reflected with 'DW were saving a failing park by adding a bold new ride. Maybe we should do that again'
  7. That is even more amazing than Bikash's 'The Ferry will be quicker than driving'. Seriously the amount of people on trip advisor complaining about too many rides and not enough places to sit is unreal, good on them 😂 Wipeout closing forever is an interesting one, it could both indicate trying to turn the place around or not caring about the place. DW need to let a lot of these old rides go, so even if Ardent are trying to fix the park, Wipeout closes. No point throwing money into keeping it going for 6months, may as well get the pain out of the way. Same thing will happen soon with Cyclone, Tot, and Buzzsaw. Equal to that though, they have nothing in the pipeline. That's not a good sign.
  8. Genuine experiment - thumbs up if you know both things, fountain if you don't. I've got a theory that everyone on the forums knows
  9. According to Google most people spend 3 hours at SW. I don't think a 4.15 departure time is a big problem (last show on the lake aside) I think the park should do night trading, but if won't work of the park can't make people want to stay. Also relevant that there will be a 5.15 after June so happy days to those who do want to stay. Massive props to both Bikash and the other fella for being able to say with a straight face it'll be quicker than driving. I think they were right when they were saying you do the ferry for the experience.
  10. Oh well at least they're doing a thing.
  11. This might be the wrong attitude to take but for some reason I've always found the old and faded stars made it seem like more history had happened and like you're more connected to the person. Reality is of course that the person's named probably didn't even know they were getting a star, but the older faded stars always made it seem more legit to me.
  12. I guess in Brisbane terms, if I lived on the Sunshine Coast I wouldn't bypass Aussie World to go to a park in Ipswich even if it were slightly better, despite them being an hour of the CBD. I'd drive even less for Water Park so I do buy the idea that they each have their own catchments supporting them. Having said that, I think they don't compete with the Gold Coast parks directly but they certainly would have an affect on the Gold Coast as destination. I mean why base your holiday plans around parks when you've got some in your backyard that pretty well already scratch that itch? It could also be that parents think 'Our kids loved Gumbuya, they'd go friggen nuts with the big parks on the Gold Coast. Let's holiday there!' So in conclusion I have no firm opinion. Sorry for wasting everyone's time, but I've typed it and dammit this is the internet so I'm posting it.
  13. I gotta be careful throwing too many stones because the way I write stuff isn't perfect, but I love when people say 'I think it's definitely'
  14. In case anyone is wondering, as we do get a few people pretending to be players in the industry blow through from time to time, bigmuz does appear to be legit. Welcome!
  15. I think as soon as you sit down at TG people feel like the clock is ticking and people dont want to chill and buy food. An offer like '3rd hour free' would help to that end. I think a lot of people would take it up and if know upfront you'll be there for 3 hours you'd be more happy to order food.
  16. I think the fountain and a facepalm mean different things. I can picture a world where both exist in harmony. On topic, yeah the train is gross. If you think the train at Aussie World is better themed than the same ride at MW I suggest you don't know what themeing is. The trains at Currimbin sanctuary are at least themed to look like different famous Australian trains, this looks like nothing. It's bright and garish and in no way reinforces the 'Aussie' theme of the park. It looks like its painted in such a way that it'll stand out on the midway of the Ekka. But for an off the shelf design with nothing customized on it; the landscaping is nice, and while the design is gross the paint isn't faded and everything looks like it's in good condition. If Dreamworld or anyone building a real theme park added that I'd be slamming it. But for a small park like Aussie World, I actually don't have a problem with it. Aussie World is a collection of nicely presented carnival rides, not a theme park, and so this fits in with that pretty well. But yeah Movie World has the same ride and themed it to the world of Yosemite Sam. That's themeing.
  17. What makes you think that? Like obviously I disagree but I'd love to hear if there is any reasoning or if it's a joke.
  18. Sea World could give it a Rugrats theme. And that's it really, I could see a Fun Feilds or Aussie World picking up a couple of the smaller and kiddie rides, Tailspin and Pandamonium but after that nothing seems that salvageable. Maybe Claw, but even it has 15 years on it now. Depends on how much they want for it. Tell ya what I reckon would get sold off succesfully though; all of the slides at WWW. Even with heavy use I reckon theres a lot of smaller parks that would love to get their hands on WWW's collection.
  19. Dreamworld's results also benefited from better weather. Just sayin.
  20. Except this year, last year and the year before that.
  21. What annoys me on this front is Village practically gift wrapped DW a place in the market. They basically said we're going to move on our prices, you can now have the advantage on price if you want. DW's response was to raise prices too. So stupid. Village raised their price, saw a tiny decrease in attendance but much higher profits. DW raised prices, much lower attendance and slightly less revenue. Good going there Ardent you sure understand the pressures facing your business. I don't think they like to highlight things which will reduce the guest experience
  22. Thank god we've got someone to Gatekeep on whether something is interesting or not.
  23. It is a ghost town. What's interesting to me is how much they're trying with in park entertainment and the like. My view of rides closing early has actually significantly softened after my recent visit. There just isn't anyone there. The problem DW has isn't that the rides are closing early, the problem is no one is there to go on the rides. I'm also of the view that DW desperately needs a new kick ass coaster, both to draw in crowds and to allow 1 or 2 of the old rides to be retired gracefully. I also totally understand why there isn't one in the pipeline. Post accident the idea of adding a new scary ride just seemed unthinkable, and a new family ride 100% seemed the only way to go. Thing is with the long lead in times for a coaster they actually should have signed the contract the first Christmas after the accident. Unfortunately that's something that you can only really see with hindsight. SV when it opens will help the in park experience, and it might do something to help attendance a little, but I think bringing a new coaster to market now rather than a (by all accounts) quite good simulator would do more to change the story of the park. When SV was announced, many people had the idea for Aviation Land on what was Gold Rush. I think Aviation Land with a relocated Tail Spin, Rethemed Buzzsaw, SV, & anchored by a new coaster would do very well. In ocean parade replace Wipeout TailSpin and Trolls with a modern Shoot The Chute ride. DW as is isnt getting people through the door, you need to do something drastic to change the narrative.
