  1. If Dreamworld added some shit to GD gondola themselves I can imagine that post accident when they reaudited their rides they decided to remove anything that wasn't put there by the manufacturer.
  2. I think there is a genuine claim for anyone who saw what happened, more so for those first responders, but this makes no sense. I'll just have to put it down to poor journalism and hope what their involvement was gets explained later. From all the photos though there's only 2 rafts involved and wasnt even one anywhere near the scene on the Conveyor. Feel like if there was a third boat or if there were people in the first I'm shocked that this is the first I'm hearing of it.
  3. @AlexB I disagree with the assertion that the timing of the event in the same month as Halloween is an important motivating factor for why people go to Fright Nights at MW. Halloween isn't Christmas, you can do scary stuff whenever you like. Scary movies come out year round, haunt style attractions operate and tour year round. If it makes more sense for ticketing and weather reasons to do a scary event in Feb or March, then there really isn't a good reason not to. Equally if you're doing a Carnivale event it doesn't have to be at the same time of year as Rio Carnival or Mardi Gras. Hold the event when it makes sense, and it makes way more sense for Adventure World to hold this event in Feb/March.
  4. Because it's hard to build up momentum to sell tickets at during the off season. How important is Halloween to Fright Nights at MW anyway? Never see it referenced. I bet most people who go to Fright Nights don't make the connection that Halloween is on the 31st and that's why MW is doing a scary event during October. So why not do it in Feb? When you do it literally doesn't matter so long as it's good.
  5. If you're going to put a flat ride into MW in Lethal courtyard you're best off with something pretty small. Something like a breakdance but less of a tripping hazard to load is about right. Really though, how long does AA have left? 10 years? Maybe? In that case I'd leave that part of the park as is until AA goes and the whole area comes up for redevelopment. In the meantime a redone kids area, new Stunt Show and smaller additions would probably see the park through pretty good. Theres also the flat ride pad in the middle of Superman's heilex to consider.
  6. Clearly it's not down to change stickers, and surely hot wheel was paying Dreamworld to sponsor a ride not Dreamworld paying for the hot wheel logo. So yeah if its closed for something else, fair enough to spruce it up for when it reopens. I forgot until I saw that pic though how ugly the multi coloured train is
  7. I must admit Parkway is probably the outlet I'd close first. Even when the park is busy the place is deserted. Think the whole place was really poorly conceived to be honest. Utterly charmless in an inconvenient location with uninspired menu. Not bad, just uninspired. Think it might've worked better as more retail space or a proper restaurant but a fast food eatery with all the charm of a particularly boring truck stop.
  8. I thought 135 was the current speed too.
  9. The problem for Aussie parks is 10-5 is already lean. There isn't really any fat to cut off it for changing seasons. I honestly think they'd e better off saying 'weekdays the whole park is open 10 till 4' than pretending that 4 rides constitutes an open park. Half functioning park all day is worse than a full functioning park for one less hour. Apart from that there's no where to go so calling for flexible hours isn't going to help.
  10. Ah see of it's about gaming the system that's fine. Does make me hate fastpass+ that little bit more though
  11. Buzzsaw Sidewinder Wipeout the train and the pointless ferris wheel all closed right now. If you alternate rides now there really isn't going to be much left.
  12. What ride at Disney is good if you dont count the themeing though? Pretty much all their rides are average but they're dressed up to hell. Even for a family coaster, 7DMT is laughably bad as a coaster but people queue for hours to see the themeing. ToT is a weak as piss drop ride, but totally enclose it and theme it to twilight zone and you get something special. The bit of Haunted Mansion that makes it amazing is not the physical sensation of riding the Omni Mover ride vehicle. Frozen is a standard flume ride. If thats true then ToT is a below average drop ride and Test Track is literally the same as driving to the park.
  13. In that classic 'I agree with 99% of what you say but I'm going to talk about the 1% I disagree with' style that the internet it known for: Fastpass for Spaceship Earth? Don't go on it first thing in the morning. There saved you a fastpass. Also Frozen is an average Flume ride? Really? I like the movie fine enough but holy crap that thing looks great. The tech and execution of that ride are next level. Obviously you know if a ride based off Frozen will appeal to you or not but dismissing it as 'An average Flume ride' is a mistake.
  14. Really feel for the frontline staff here who will cop it from the guests while also having their hours cut right back. Not sure how someone is supposed to live off 5 hours a day, its not like the staff are making a heap of money to begin with. I think reduced hours were clearly coming, but only 4 rides open after 4, and one of them is bumper cars? That's pretty crazy. It's getting hard to see how they intend to get out of this hole they're in or even if they're still trying. I agree that operations do need to be more lean but holy hell what positive things can you point to? Sky Voyager is late and way over budget, so many of the rides have ongoing unexpected downtime, hours cut right back and attendance down on last year. I get the impression they were expecting a triumphant return to being profitable this year but there is a such a long list of things at the park still trending in the wrong direction that at this point I really can't see how they can turn it around without serious money going in. For the first time ever not only do I think DW will close, but I now suddenly get the impression it will close with 2 weeks notice. Probably not until this time next year to be fair, Sky Voyager alone cost a lot of money so you'd want to see what affect that has on things before you pull the plug, but Sky Voyager alone will not save the park, and it won't be enough to turn the tide while everything else around it is spiraling downward.
  15. And teeth whitening kits 🤨
  16. I did it by Greyhound bus once just for a laugh. When you get to the airport catch the tram thing to downtown Cleveland, then it's like a 2 block walk to the bus terminal, then there's a bus you can catch to Sandusky. Drops you off in the middle of butt fuck then you can catch a cab or uber to you hotel. I kind of did it as a laugh since the people I was going to the park with (who'd hired a car) weren't due to land for 8 hours. Honestly it's pretty ghetto way to travel but if you're on a budget and don't mind spending half the day doing a drive that would otherwise take an hour and a bit, go for it. Queues will be long and any chain motel will be fine, but again, ghetto as.
  17. Thing is there is a lot of those little details hidden in those maps. SW's had a pirate and little alien walking around. Nice little things to discover if you studied it. Plus it worked as a map. The new one has the AOS stables on it so thats handy right?
  18. The new one is an improvement? How? The forklift back of house is more prominent than the biggest ride in the park
  19. See I actually agree with that. But I think a couple rides like that are healthy for parks to have. The 'no way' leads to good fun banter between friends and stories about the crazy ride you were talked into going on and how amazing it was and how scary it was. GD does it perfectly. Thats what I'm talking about when I talk about rides that capture the public's imagination. GD does it, ToT does it, Rivals does it Superman does it. Even Claw and Wipeout do it a bit. (Pandamonium doesn't do it because people look at it and go 'that doesnt look fun or scary, that just looks like it'll make me sick') Problem is for DW that their big 'OMG' rides aren't long for this world and replacements are needed. It won't be long before SW adds a proper new ride and if that captures the public's imagination right as DW' best thrill rides close the it's all over. Yes all parks need more genuine family rides, SV is a good family ride, but that is not what's going to pull them out of a hole.
  20. See heres the thing. If we ban him he'll be back. IP bans don't work these days. We'd rather have the trolls in plain sight rather than infiltrate the site then reveal themselves. But it only works if people block the obvious troll or don't respond everytime they post.
  21. I'd say a bigger problem is a lack of crowds. If new thrill ride suddenly brought crowds in, even if that caused crowding elsewhere in the park, it would be a good thing. Also in response to the post above mine: all those numbers are utterly meaningless. Scooby has a capacity of 4 and Arkham has a capacity of 20.
  22. The problem with a Boomerang is that Rivals, Superman and Green Lantern exist. I think a Boomerang at a park like Aussie World or Fun Feilds would be huge, but not at Dreamworld. People know that Arkham isn't as good as the other 3 big coasters at MW, an they'll know a Boomerang isn't as good. Yes it's marketable, yes it's got the gimmicks, it's even got the nostalgia, but it's not something that will capture the public's imagination and the ride experience is sub par. Ultimately, ToT is probably on the way out. You're obviously not going to get anything taller or faster, but you do need something as awesome to replace it. A boomerang won't cut it. Maybe as something to chuck in as a HWSW replacement it could work, but I wouldn't see it as a ride that will massively turn the tide.
  23. I actually agree with the obvious troll on this one. A Lazy River isn't going to do anything to change the trajectory they're on. They need a new family ride and new thrills to replace the rides that are almost at end of life. They've now got their family ride, it might be late, over budget, ugly and hard to market, but all the same they have their family ride. Now, they need a bold new thrill ride. Not another flat, a decent coaster. If you can get it to go upside down 6 times and take the Australian record for most inversions that'd probably be useful too, because you need an angle where you need to look straight down the camera and say 'It's more X than Rivals'. Something to take to market and something to balance the park when the old thrill rides start closing. Oh and a new water slide for WWW. Doesn't matter what, literally anything will do. Dark Mammoth or Boomerango for my taste but it really doesn't matter.
  24. That video is worth watching just for when German Alf calls the cat at 8 mins 50 seconds in.
  25. Mack V is just 'end of life'. It was old when they got it. Nothing really more interesting to it than that.
