  1. Which is literally the nicest thing that can be said about it; it's at least something. I'll also say the 120cm height requirement is reasonable too, but yeah placement is horrible it's uninspired, cheap, and to be honest, just lazy.
  2. Be interesting to see if those trees block the view of the show building in a few years. In any case that's the side of the ride, not the front. The front of Scooby should at least be up to its own standard. To be honest I don't hate it. Obviously it looked better with the tree but it's pretty 'meh' to me. Just the line about how it's the movies doesn't hold any water.
  3. Meanwhile at a theme park
  4. Both of you have thoughts which are wrong, however you are welcome to continue to be wrong. Have a blissful day!
  5. Afternoon makes significantly more sense for the upsell side of it. If they can't sell it at $99 drop it slowly until they sell. If they don't sell for a price that'sworth it then piss it off. I'd leave it at $99 for a bit and see how it goes.
  6. VRTP probably shocked to find they still own SW.
  7. Having it open for as many White Christmas events as possible would be great, but TBH as long as it opens by Boxing Day it's all good.
  8. Just to be clear also I'm not having a go at DW or anyone else on the board, but the folks who sold the advertising space.
  9. I must admit it does kind of diminish the point if they're paid for. Instead of train stations you've got GC Cabs, The Tram and Surfside busses. Instead of streets its an eclectic mix business locations community space and football stadiums. Kind of misses the point but you know, at least they sold their advertising space.
  10. If they came out and said 'We're working on a couple big projects but big projects take time and the park needs more rides NOW; hence why we're adding a temporary ride for a year or two' I could actually totally get behind it. The problem is demolishing the lighthouse makes it look like this nothing carnie ride is part of their long term plan. The lighthouse, while not exactly iconic does give a nice bit of support to 'Sea World'. Its captures what those lighthouses dotted up and down the coast are like. But better than that, because the walk out to it is past dolphins and it's not a long drive. If Flume is dead rip the channel out and put a ride in the middle of Storm. If Flume isn't dead then put it near Jet Rescue. But don't permanently rip out one of the nicest bits of scenary in the park if it's a stop gap measure, and if it isn't a stop gap measure then give me a call and I'll do creative consulting for free because who ever is deciding things has no idea how to make the park great.
  11. Well shit if they're working through the night then they must be on schedule. /sarcasm
  12. Which would make demolishing the lighthouse all the more mystifying
  13. Sea World has lost of far flung corners it's true. Doesn't mean a Star Flyer is bringing life to a section of park which doesn't need life brought to it. You know what part of the park does need life? The bit behind the Nick Stage. Also I can't speak for MickeyD, but I assume that his vision for putting the ride near Jet Rescue would also involve fixing that cluster. Jet Rescue is at an annoying dead end. If only there were something else there to give that walk a bit more purpose.
  14. Of all the areas of SW that need attention, I don't think the lighthouse is the most pressing. However much this project is costing, it would be better spent going towards getting the Flume operational again. I don't think putting a carnival ride in some far flung corner of the park is going to do much to the park attendance wise or add an element of energy and excitement to the place. I'm also not sure totally sure that right next to a dolphin pool is where riders screams should come from tbh. I mean if it's all true then points for remembering they own the park I guess. SW is in desperate need of rides and the star flyers are reasonably well rated. Not what I'd do but at least its something
  15. I think anyone defending them on this needs to drink less kool aid. There is a minimum to be cheap and run it less and a maximum because it's broke. The fact they turned a group of less than 20 away at the end of the day is pretty shameful.
  16. I'd love to see the numbers that says one central on ride photo shop does better than shops at each ride v labour costs. I'd have thought the excitement you feel coming off a ride contributed the impulse of wanting to buy a photo. I'm sure the numbers have been crunched but I'd love to see the numbers because seems counter intuitive to me.
  17. What's really missing though? The opening is claustrophobic and who thinks seeing characters the shows were pretty much always woeful and mazes are pretty much the same. What more the park has always been over sold to shit so regardless of whether or not the event has been better the event has been impossible to enjoy in the past. This is the first year where I wasn't frustrated. This is the first year I felt like I could enjoy the night rather than having to run through the place like a commando with a strict battle plan. MAYBE there was more entertainers in the past? Don't care. This is the first time I've actually enjoyed being at the event. Are there things that could be better? Sure. To me though it's about having a good time. $65 ticket with less of a crush of people is a significantly better deal than $49 but you also need to buy Flash pass to actually enjoy yourself.
  18. The fact Sally Pearson is still getting mentioned in all these reports is getting a bit old at this point. Sure she's lovely but not sure the fact she's been in ad (which I must admit I haven't even seen yet) is worthy of being highlighted continually forever is fully justified.
  19. More expensive to get in means shorter queues so better experience but the park still makes it's money. Not sure how that's a bad thing?
  20. Get better, we need a theme park person there!
  21. This is the first person I've seen who if they haven't been sacked, should be. Lets go through a one person timeline here (as best as can be determined by the information publicly available, if there are corrections or important things I've missed please let me know and I'll fix) * Is aware of state of console, but knocks back proposal to simplify console. * Despite knowing what a cluster the console is in, decides a proper e-stop is not needed. Panel has 3 buttons which could be confused for e-stops, including one which is labeled Emergency Stop; which isn't a proper e-stop * Keeps ride open when faulty, figuring ops staff can deal with any issues that come up with poor console. * Despite knowing it's faulty, takes no active interest in the ride. *Disaster* * Blames ride ops. * Blames people who reset pump which he knew was faulty for not telling him it was slightly more faulty. Unrepentant more than a year after. I get that people need to sleep at night but this attitude of 'My crappy work was fine and it's everyone else's fault for not dealing with it' has already been proved dangerous once at Dreamworld, he needs to get out before its proved dangerous again. Looking forward to seeing what sort of oversight and corporate culture allowed this sort of man to thrive.
  22. Yeah look as fun as shitting on DW is right now, we probably don't need a report on every stoppage. If a ride is closed unexpectedly for a day I don't care. That happens. 3 of the parks bigger rides being closed at the same time without a solid reopening date is story enough. Wonder what could be going on with Side Winder? I get buzzsaw needs a new part and ToT is about the most complex ride anywhere, but Sidewinder is about the most standard ride anywhere?
  23. Any indication of at what point the pumps were turned off and how long it takes for water to drain from that area? Seems extraordinary that 5 mins after it happened the water level hadn't dropped enough to find everyone.
  24. The first Monday Tuesday Wednesday after boxing day will be the busiest days of the year. Best advice would be go the 2 days before Christmas, or hold out until after the new year. Keep an eye out for extended hours at WnW, go on an overcast day, and get there before opening.
