  1. Notice the lack of exit stairs which were added for Bermuda allowing for the preshow room. Seconded how great that post was Glubbo
  2. I can't blame them for knee jerk reactions at this point tbh. If there is a design flaw I wonder who designed the modifications, as I can't imagine DW would be in the mood to take on the liability that comes with modifying restraints, and again if it's a design flaw I wonder if Zamperla might be working on a fix. As for the longer dispatch times, yeah it's shit but honestly can't see that making a huge impact on guests given where attendance is at.
  3. Calm down people it's a gimmick. Why must everyone get their knickers in a twist over everything?
  4. I think the trick is to go the Aussie World approach, open a pub on a major highway which backs onto a bunch of acres and let the pokie money fund the whole thing. Also FWIW I wouldn't let the average internet forum poster anywhere near a decision making position in a park I ran. Given that somewhat ruins the game, I'm out
  5. 5000 x $5000 is $25million. As for crowd funding a theme park (or fun park let's be real), not impossible, but it's not going to happen, not to those numbers anyway.
  6. If people buy it, they'll sell it. You can't blame the parks for the unhealthy habits of society. Also people don't go to the parks every day, its a treat, that's how the food should be viewed
  7. How do you know they're not doing all they can? I agree though, the amount of closed rides isn't good. We may know the rides are under more scruitiny than ever, but all joe public sees are closed rides. Getting the log ride open will help quite a lot there, but for now 4 (or 6 dependong on how you're counting) of the rides down isn't best foot forward type stuff.
  8. Not with a toddler? Because famously toddlers like to sleep in yeah? Here's the thing if you make an entrie train backwards that reduces capacity for the much more popular forwards facing seats, and you've got the issue of having a train down for maintainence which hasn't been addressed. The backwards train would also require a dickton of modification to have a full train of backwards seats. Having one of each is just not a well thought out idea. Realistically, there'll be challenges in managing it, but I think the length of the queue will sort out the demand issue for the back seat. "I kinda wanted to sit in the back but it's a 45min wait v a 10 min wait for a forward seat, don't think I'll bother" is a scenario that will play out a lot I reckon. I'm the sort of person who would have made the whole train forwards and would've bought a 3rd train so there's always 2 trains available, but you have to admit that the backwards gimmick has really captured the public's imagination, but I'd wait to see what acfually happens before making changes.
  9. Dreamworld have gone the high end night events route before with their Tiger Island events. I wonder if $100 includes a basic drinks package and festive foods? It might be that rather than trying to compete with Movie World's model of ram the park with 6,000 or so people who paid piss all and don't get to spend in the park because of the crowds and leave cranky and annoyed, Dreamworld have gone the 'We'd rather have 1,500 who we know we've got $110 out of and know they'll leave happy. Put in perspective Outback Spectacular is $100 for the 'basic' dinner, a couple drinks and the show package. $110 for dinner drinks and a theme park with added entertainment, yeah maybe that might work as a value propisition to some. If it doesn't include anything extra then you'd be wanting a pretty amazing couple of headline acts. I hope it works, but it's probably a little out of my price range, and that's despite the fact I normally spend $40odd everytime I visit the place.
  10. Lots of queue jumping upcharges have tiers, still think it'd be a bad idea. I think most people will queue for a bit, then realize that the short queue of 40 people ahead of them will take nearly an hour, get jack of it and just ride forwards, while only the most rusted on types will see out the wait.
  11. Front row queue? Also just some food for thought, most of the year the capacity of the backwards facing seats is around 24 pph, (48 during peak for a total daily capacity of 336 during peak season). Allowing Flash Pass would be a disaster.
  12. I can picture the sign out the front now: "Please note: The queue for the backwards seats on DC Rivals will close tonight at 6.05pm"
  13. On the other hand how much better would it be if instead of the character in the video projecting boredom and disinterest at you, they were instead taking a perverse pleasure in the 'therapy' that was in store for you? How much better might it fit the story of the ride? At the very least what are the chances of getting someone with an actual accent to redub it rather than struggling with a fake one?
  14. Yeah but the point of that part of my post was to list some arbitrary things they COULD build to have something to market next year. I don't think they'll build a Eurofighter or a new dark ride either. My point was that no matter what it is they want to build, pretty much they can and they need to back themselves and do something really good and it needs to be done by Christmas next year.
  15. With all the respect I can muster, I think both of those arguments are bogus. Take these 2 examples: Both very different to Rocky Hollow, both very different in experience and appearance to TRRR, and can be marketed as Modern and safe while filling a hole in the park's line up. I'm not saying they need to add a ride like the above, my point is that 2 years on (which it'll be by the time a new ride opens), they could build a ride like this, and have it be a draw.
  16. Really I think the issue is how long they're willing to sit on Dreamworld performing poorly. This year was always going to be a write off, and it's looking like next year probably will be too. I think this year the priority needs to be making the park feel 'open' and 'complete' again. Demolishing TRRR and using that land, along with reopening Rocky Hollow will help immensely in that regard. Next year they need something new to market, and it needs to do whatever it does well. There's talk of Vintage cars being moved and improved this year, that'll help the park feel open and complete, but it won't help attract people. No gimmicky flat ride, no upgrade of something they've already got, they need a good solid new ride next year. People have suggested a Eurofighter, yeah that could work, as could a modern Shoot the Chutes or a really good dark ride. I think they just need to decide what they want to attract and go for it. One good thing about the Hyper for Dreamworld is it's kind of 'broken the ice' in terms of new thrill rides on the Gold Coast; I don't think Dreamworld could've done a thrill ride this year, they totally can next year. I also don't think they have to beat it, they just need to do something different. As for nostalgia, of course they should play on it. You can't do nostalgia at the expense of everything else, but reminding people why they liked the place so much to begin with is obviously a good move. Parents who are old enough to get the nostalgia also have a pretty big say on where the family spends the day out.
  17. Took me 3 attempts to get through it. The production values are good, even the acting is fine, but my god 2 accents was just hell to listen to.
  18. I reckon if they said how much it costs, the shareholders would shit themselves.
  19. Also none of you were right. I give this thread 0 out of 10.
  20. Yeah, thats why I say hope they enjoy it because adults who go will probably be left feeling underwhelmed by the whole thing. Keep up!
  21. Enjoy all your favorite rides. Jet Rescue is closed, so who fancies a go on Storm or Battle boats at night in pyjamas? Hopefully the kids enjoy it and they raise money for whatever it is, but seems like a strange move, particularly this year.
  22. Yeah easily the best since Shrek. It's almost the perfect movie for the park, I really dig it.
  23. $99 for a 90 min experience and a costume early in the morning not including entry. Good luck with that As an aside, how good is Road Runner 4D? As an added aside, I'd love to see a show which is just a foot race between the Flash and the Road Runner up Main Street. There's no way licensing would allow it, and it would be awful, but there's something about it that would just be the greatest thing ever.
  24. ^ This. There's a big difference between extending a water rides maintenance period by a few weeks in the middle of winter (not saying that's what they're doing by the way) and closing the park's most iconic ride. Makes you wonder when the Hyper will come online and how that will affect the feel of the park in terms of number of attractions.
  25. Yeah reckon I might just have to agree to disagree there. Wonder Woman is really about as iconic as they come.
