  1. I think the trick to Disneyland in Summer is to go while the annual passes are still blocked out for locals ,here's a handy link to help you: https://disneyland.disney.go.com/passes/blockout-dates/. I've only been able to go in peak season and found it actually pretty tolerable, no one deals with a crowd like Disney and they do it best in peak Summer season (parks are open later, pretty much everything is open and running as many cars as possible). Go in with a game plan and get there early and you can get a remarkable amount of stuff done. I've done WDW in the middle of winter and while obviously the crowds are lighter, honestly peak season at Disneyland isn't as bad as you may think. One thing I would watch out for this year, is to make sure you're not going JUST after the Rivers of America stuff re-opens and you should be sweet as.
  2. Depends how you look at it. "Why do the girls get to eat Ice Cream and the boys don't? Typical of how girls get treated better than boys!" (For the second time in this thread, that's just me demonstrating how you could spin something, not me actually calling something offensive)
  3. Yeah there are a million and one things to do during the day, and a ton of stuff to do after hours unrelated to ride startups in the morning. Even if a ride isn't closed, there's always a few ride cars being stripped back and rebuilt, there are always incidental things like a broken door to repair. There's all the paper work, there's all the the stuff that isn't rides that need work done (fleet cars, parade floats, av servicing) as well as responding to anything that happens during the day. There are more staff in tech services than you think, and they're almost always doing something.
  4. It's nice that LPS continues to survive and do well. I kinda thought they got it when they started adding temporary rides for Summer season, and adding things as budget permitted. This is the first thing from them in a while where rather than thinking 'oh good they're treading water' you think 'Oh cool I can't wait to see what they do next!'. Would love to see what their results have been like, but the success of the small/medium sized parks in Australia does bode well for the future. Does make Luna Park Melbourne seem like more of a shithole than it already is though.
  5. You know what, I was tired and emotional last night when I speculated it was for paid parking. Totally forgot that there's quite a lot of construction going on at the Southern end of the studios on Paradise Country Road.
  6. They can fuck right off if this has anything to do with paid parking
  7. The rest of the media remembered to mention it. I think the interesting thing is Dreamworld made a statement about it on Facebook to hide down the hype. Seems to have done the trick too.
  8. The thing about that line is it doesn't offend me, in fact very little does. I'm more thinking in terms of avoiding one of those manufactured controversies that play out in the media occasionally. You know the ones where like one person complains and they'll jump in with an article saying 'Insensitive ad causes offence - what do you think?' I think overall with the ad I'm with @MaxxTheMonster, I don't really mind what they're going for, it just doesn't quite work for me.
  9. Alright someone has to say it: Maybe after people drowned, probably an idea to not start your come back ad with the phrase 'Hold your breath'. I don't hate the idea, I get what they're going for, they want something nice and safe and uplifting. I also like the new logo - never really been a fan of Dreamworld's modern logo, so that's all well and good, but using a song from a Warner Brother's movie that's being way over sung which starts with that line, yeah it's a big no from me.
  10. I don't think that it's the dissenting opinion, I think most people take the view that it's just being overly and needlessly pedantic. FWIW though I probably think a downvote is an over reaction.
  11. I like how they totally didn't answer the question.
  12. @mission Welcome to the world of coasters! I'm going to help you out, there's a website www.rcdb.com. You can search any ride by type, of particular relevance to you is https://rcdb.com/r.htm?ot=2&mo=8326. Those are all the rides the same as Arkham, and yes, Blue Tornado is one of them. This link may also interest you https://rcdb.com/8193.htm
  13. ^ Pretty sure that's a joke rather than a nitpick. FWIW though I also went for my first ride on Arkham with VR the other day, and I must say I was very pleasantly surprised. Actually I came off the ride gushing about how great it was, and I don't gush often. I'm also totally in favour of the $5 fee. It means they can dedicate an entire staff member too it, and keeps usage down enough that it doesn't have a major affect on capacity, and Arkham needs all the capacity it can get. My hope with it is that in a few years it makes adding a second train an economical no brainer. As for roughness, to be honest I didn't notice it being rough or the leg tightness which I know it can induce. Certainly wasn't worse than normal though.
  14. No, there is not. You may go back to sleep now
  15. ^ Yeah that's what I mean. You can connect it so you can use the existing depot but I reckon changing trams is OK
  16. I guess one thing about it we don't really know though is what is the cost? If it's going to end up being a quarter of the cost of Light Rail then it could be a fine idea. My preference would be for a spur tramline running from south of Sundale Bridge to Sea World, but if a Cable system is way cheaper to build and run and does basically the same thing thing then why not?
  17. Nah, I'm quite satisfied with people not being able to spot me in the crowd thanks
  18. Having said that though I think they NEEDED to extend passes by 6 months. No one would have renewed, they need people to go back and start feeling normal about being there before they can hope to start charging for passes. 10% of people wanted refunds, to me that's about how many people you'd expect to hear say stuff like 'I'm never going back'. The question is how much they're willing to ride it out. This year is a write off, what happens next year? They'll still be down but will it recover enough to decide to keep going with the park is a big question right now. My advice is if you want the park to be their in a few years, then get your butts down there and spend some money.
  19. What do you think they should spend the $15 on instead? EDIT: If you go to the effort of finding out how much it would cost at domestic prices (which I'll give you a tip, they don't pay), I'm going to delete the hell out of it because I don't care and neither does anyone else.
  20. All these ideas about how Dr. Who could work have successfully convinced me that Dr. Who is an awful idea.
  21. Sea World basically exists because of having Dolphin Shows. I don't think Affinity is the best incarnation, but again is see it as 'dolphin shows at Sea World', in which case it totally belongs there. Mammoth Falls I think is also deserving of its place on the list. I mean it has a very long ride time, a small height requirement, genuinely fun for all ages, is rerideable, and a has massive capacity. It was also the first of Wet "n" Wild's big modern slides and really helped the park transition from small local water park, to something quite special. I think it's a pretty good list really. All of those attractions are not only the best the Gold Coast has, but they were also what made the Gold Coast what they are. When you look through the list, (with the exception of PA which was just perfection itself) most of those rides represent some sort of coming of age for the park they're in, and resulted in a boost which propelled the park along. The only change I would have made would be to combine ToT/GD onto one spot and get Corkscrew on the list. While nothing special in terms of a coaster it was able to be the signature thrill ride for Sea World pretty much it's whole life. I'm glad that rides like Green Lantern, Claw and Buzzsaw didn't make the list, because while all fun rides, I don't view them as being anything 'special'.
  22. Nah they're their own company. Village tried to take control of the property and turn it into a water park but that never happened.
  23. I just want to know how they're affording all this. I've only been up there a handful of times but I've never been up there and thought 'wow they're really raking in the cash today!' I mean the pub has pokies but even that doesn't really explain it to me.
  24. That to me leaves a themed area that's still a bit of a mess. I'd be much more inclined to start again with the only thing in the area being Buzzsaw, and even that can be painted and rethemed.
  25. Someone made a Doctor Who ride in RCT3. You should watch it.
