  1. ^ That pleasing moment when you read a post which you just didn't see coming.
  2. I've added a poll to this thread
  3. I didn't think I had anything for this thread, but having given it some thought, I came up with loads. Here are two for each park: Sea World The bus stop should be moved to the road next to security so guests don't have to walk through the car park blocking the exits. Also adding some trim back to the monorails. Glad the wraps are gone, but looks a bit cheap to just leave it totally plain. Movie World The lights on the exterior of Scooby look crap during night events, so a way of turning them off safely/blocking the light would be awesome. Also some new plaques around the fountain of fame would be nice. Dreamworld The bits of the chairlift that look like a chairlift should go. Also the temporary fencing in the new car museum. It's easily the least offensive use of temporary fencing in the parks, but still not massively a fan.
  4. Are steam trains the same as kettles at home? And if so have Dreamworld heard the saying 'A watched pot never boils', and considered not having someone supervise the process to make it go quicker? Just thinking out loud here.
  5. See I think there are too many stations on the line. I think if they were to expand into Blue Lagoon and add a station, they could consider closing the Rocky Hollow and Billabong Cafe stations. Hell even if they didn't add another station they should get rid of the Billabong Cafe stop.
  6. Jesus when did this become a pissing contest? It's a double hammer ride. Not a Star flyer, not a roller coaster (regardless of what channel 9 call it), not a dark ride, not anything else, just in case anyone didn't get the memo. Most of the budget is going to themeing, and this isn't the 'World's best' thing they were talking about. We obviously can't know what that is, but rcdb.com maybe gives some clue as to what that is, given their reliable nature, and remember they're unlikley to say 'World top 50', particularly when you're justifying the installation of a properly expensive grown up ride.
  7. Maybe it broke down the day before, or the problem was found in morning checks, so they called the engineer in, and he got there early enough for the attraction to open on time. Remember, both Dreamworld and the engineer now have telephones, so even if he wasn't on site, it's plausible that they asked him to come in.
  8. ^ Depends if you want to be right or not. You can say the Earth is flat if you want, doesn't make your opinion right or valid though. Most of the time what you write is pretty close to being on the money though, so I assume being right is something you normally try to do, hence why a little friendly banter here is fine. The claim was that attendance was probably up due to the international market. International numbers tend to be pretty flat, and make up such a small percentage that other local factors tend are much more of a determining factor on what overall attendance is doing. It's particularly true when you're talking about the Asian market, which is the segment of the market that really don't have much need of family rides. When you start talking about the biggest portion of the international market, Kiwis, all of a sudden you're back into family attractions are something that's of interest territory. The final point I've quoted is subjective. I obviously disagree, but if you think the park has a better offering for families now than it once did, then that's your opinion. I've listed my reasons for why I disagree in other threads, and honestly no one wants to read that sort of debate. Again though, going on TripAdvisor reviews, I'm not alone in thinking it.
  9. I hope so, the shows at Tiger Island have always been a bit of a pain in the arse to go to. The standing around in the sun with an obstructed view kind of kept me wanting to go back and watch the show more than once. I think if there were Tiger shows in a decent stadium, it'd get significantly higher attendance, so IMHO a venue of 1,500+ seats with shade would be an awesome and worthwhile addition to the park.
  10. You do know that across the board the international market is utterly dwarfed by the local and interstate market right? You also know that Sea World doesn't have a sit down restaurant anymore, something that is of great value to tour groups? I mean just because you disagree with someone, doesn't mean you can say 'I'd guess attendance is up because a portion of the market don't care for those attractions'. Utter nonsense, check Trip advisor to see if the general public have noticed how far backwards the park has gone and think that removing rides is fine. I don't know what attendance is doing, but I'd suggest it's probably flat or slightly up, which would be based almost entirely off cheap VIP passes flooding the market.
  11. It's better, but it's nothing like the improvement that was the Arkham conversion. For my taste, it's taken it from being 'unpleasant rough' to 'good old fashion fun!' rough.
  12. The boat ride at the Ginger Factory. Also the Big Red Car ride
  13. I'll have the final word on Grenlins V Scooby; Gremlins is in the top three closed down rides on the Gold Coast. It was so good, no physical thrills, but just good fun. I rode it as a kid, and was sucked right in by the suspense and imagination. Just a total fit for what Movie World was. However, Scooby may well be the best ride on the Gold Coast ever. It's a long ride. It's high capacity, has a broad appeal, is thrilling in an accessible way, with a low height requirement, and carries over that sense of fun that its predecessor had. In an idea world, I'd love to see a Movie World that had both, but if I had to chose, Scooby Doo is the better of the two. As for DMH, I don't know what you mean about 88% themed, but it all sounds about right to me. I haven't heard anything about an effects overhaul of WWF but that doesn't mean you're wrong, I haven't been inside the company for a long time, so hopefully that means good things for the most underrated ride at Movie World
  14. Not much of a prediction, Dreamworld closes everyday at 5pm!
  15. Excuse the crudeness, I just did this on an iPhone but you can see the layout of the building is the same. Just the height for the wild mouse part is different *photos not the same scale
  16. We needed a new forum running joke. Hussrainbow and Fire eyes were getting on in years even after Mack refurbished them. Decent plot of land there, I've long thought that area of the park was under-utilised, but it's surprising just how large the area is.
  17. You can't believe everything that's in the bulletin. The only thing you can believe less than what's in the bulletin is things that people tell you is going to be in the Bulletin
  18. I think Mad Max would have been a great theme to bring to the park, and I would work well where we're looking as a kind of segue from classic Hollywood into Wild West. That's not what they're building now though apparently.
  19. I'd say they'll carry on as they have been but maybe raise the price by $0.99 a month for new customers if anything.
  20. They don't have limited numbers left though. But if you tell people that they might get off their butts and buy one. That's the whole point here. *edit* If there were limited numbers they'd say 'Only however many left!' Not 'Sale ends Feb 29, tell all your friends'

  22. Ooh an Aussie BBQ/Bar with verandah, either over looking the end of the rapids ride or taking over the old Sky Link station, I like! I'd like to see what ever happens to Eureka Mountain happen, wether it's re-opening the ride, gutting the mountain and starting again, or demolishing the mountain and putting whatever there. Throw in a few small elements to Thunder River (particularly more ways to get wet) and I think that's concept enough. I also think expanding Gold Rush Coubtry to include the old Blue Lagoon site is a waste of a big plot of land. For my taste I'd like to see Blue Lagoon's plot of land be given a dark sinister theme. Something like X-Sector at Aton Towers would fit the bill nicely. You could easily open it with one coaster to start off with too and grow it over time.
