Nah the middle child in Home Improvement. From memory it went Jonathan, Taylor & Thomas
  2. Today's crappy weather aside, it's not true though. With all the VIP passes there is these days, got do see a bigger bump in attendance before Christmas than what there used to be, but nothing near what you get on Boxing Day onwards. Freakish one off days aside, the busiest day of the year is traditionally the in the first Monday Tuesday or Wednesday after Boxing Day. Not only that, but the entire month after Boxing Day is significantly more crowded than normal. Peak season is most certainly coming, but it's not here yet.
  3. Ah you're right, you said about how it wasn't smooth, hence the need for shoes and a locker. My mistake, but I believe my point remains. But that aside, I'm genuinely curious what other experiences you had? Like I said, I've not been, but I've read the feedback, and it's pretty uniformly scathing. The only thing the park seems to have going for it is a good ride selection.
  4. Ok so the stuff about 'They make the car park intentionally hot so you HAVE to buy a locker for your thongs' is one of the most mental theories I've ever heard about the place. Also to call the place a hellhole when the only negative experience you had was a wait at the front entry due to, as you put it, guests changing their minds 50times, and closing the rides due to a lightning strike in the area is kind of mad. However, if they use the same lightning detection and follow the same guidelines in Sydney as they do on the Gold Coast, then I know how frustrating it is. There are occasions when the edge of a storm that will completely miss the parks strays into the catchment area and close the parks down. Unfortunately that's what the insurance industry has done to fun in this country, but that's kind of the way the world is now. I've not been to Wet "n" Wild Sydney, so my input is of limited value, but I must say I've been fascinated by the way that park is run since it opened. All the decisions they make are not customer friendly, from charging for parking (when there are piss all public transport options) to banning outside foods in an inconsistent manner (and then not having the capacity to serve all the people who now need to buy food), to not staffing all the rides consistently and not opening the whole of the lazy river to charging people to skip the lines. All their policies seem to have this subtle 'we hate you' quality about them. Again, I haven't been, I could be totally wrong, but from reading the comments on their Facebook page the park certainly seems to give off that vibe.
  5. Welcome! I've just got a quick question: When all we've got to go on are crappy renders that look worse than roller coaster tycoon 3, why shouldn't people be sceptical? If you follow this industry, you'll know how often things get announced that never come to fruition for one reason or another. And here is an announcement from someone who doesn't have a track record for the most ambitious theme park project in Australia, with a very amateur looking concept art. I mean forgive us for being skeptical but in the public domain there isn't much to go on that makes this seem legit.
  6. Sound Stage 9 is being built behind AOS as we speak. It's closer to Wet "n" Wild than it is to Movie World.
  7. I'll take the all caps headline out later, but fires on the spit are just a thing that happens from time to time. The call to evacuate would have more to do with the smoke in the area than it would with any threat to the park.
  8. Let's see, no evidence provided, calling someone a 'Grade A idiot' for asking what exactly you want to discuss, making baseless accusations about the moderators on this site. This is a total junk thread. Thing is we tried to discuss this with you last time, but you weren't able to take anything on board that you were being told. You're incapable of a discussion on the issue. Don't accuse us of censoring either because we left the thread up for all to see. So here is what's going to happen; This thread is being locked, and if you start a new one you'll be banned. That simple. This isn't adding anything to the community, and frankly, we don't need you. Also although we don't HAVE to answer to you (and you probably won't listen anyway) none of the mods on here are on Sea World's books.
  9. RE the 'river' in the middle of the park; I think people in the past have sort of over done the complaining about the dirty river thing. There was one notable occasion where Dreamworld even called out someone for taking a close up view of it and making out the whole river looked like that. Having said that, here is what it looked like over the weekend. Other parts may be better of course, this is the only place I saw the river from. I'd say regardless of how healthy the river may be, and despite the fact it really didn't affect my day, you'd have to concede it's not exactly a good look.
  10. One more to add:
  11. Haha how amazing would it be if it were an old globe of death?
  12. Smith Street gets a bad rap. Honestly it's fine. As for getting accomodation more central to the parks, honestly I wouldn't bother. Yes there are closer hotels particularly around the Labrador area, but you're on holidays, and Labrador while not being a bad place to find yourself, isnt where I'd suggest people spend their holidays, and it'll only save you 10mins on each journey anyway. Sea World Resort is pretty good and they normally have some good theme park specials. I wouldn't recommend staying there without a car as its not walking distance to anywhere, but if you've got a car you'll be fine. Either stay at Sea World, or stay somewhere within a couple min walk of a tram stop and you'll have a blast.
  13. An attraction with no height requirement that was popular with guests of all ages? It makes good sense to me why current management wouldn't see fit to keep it going. What a joke. Even if it cost more than a million to keep it going it'd be worth it. Luckily though they'll be able to blame some biased peice of shit propaganda movie for their declines rather than their own piss poor management. Death by a thousand cuts. That's what Sea World died from.
  14. It's a sloppy article to be sure, but the irony is it seems to downplay how close it was to ending in tragedy. It implies that of 3 bolts, 1 failed and 2 worked. The photos would seem to suggest this is slightly missing what actually happened. The fact they still go on about riders being 'trapped' also suggests to me that the bulletin doesn't quite grasp the seriousness of the incident. That said, I'll be confident to line up when the ride reopens. From past experience I know how that company treats safety and mitigation of risk, I know that they wouldn't reopen the ride if they weren't totally sure it was safe to do so.
  15. OK, you're clearly either trolling, or support PETA. Either way, there is no sense trying to talk logically with you. Here's what your argument boils down to: "I don't like the idea of animals being in captivity because of my own personal bias". If that's you opinion, you're welcome to it. You can't then scream "It's evil and they torture animals!" to give your argument more weight. They aren't evil, and they don't torture animals the same way any responsible pet owner doesn't miss treat their dogs. Yet you never hear anyone saying "These animals are being deprived of their freedoms". Oh wait PETA do. You can't reasonably talk to these people. So like I say, you're either trolling or you just straight out don't care for facts. That being the case, I don't see any need for this thread to continue.
  16. None of Sea World's Polar Bears were captured from the wild. The closest were twins Nelson and Hudson were abandoned by their mother and not expected to survive. The Sea Lions at Sea World are pretty much all either standings born in captivity, and that's also true of the dolphins. The mammals in Sea World's care have no prospect of survival in the wild.
  17. How's that for timing: http://m.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/lifestyle/pets-and-wildlife/watch-sea-world-release-stranded-dolphin-back-into-the-ocean/story-fnk74alk-1227585503373
  18. Ok got some news for you; It doesn't happen. It's illegal in Australia to catch Dolphins from the wild. Has been since the mid 90's. Yes they make money. So what? They also invest money into research, rescue animals, and as much as is needed in the top level care of their own animals. Thats not even going into greater environmental awareness people have after visiting the park.
  19. That happens at Sea World in Australia does it?
  20. Yeah, people who spread misinformation to fit their agendas are nutters.
  21. As a former animal care worker I feel pretty qualified to offer an opinion here. I've never encountered any mis treatment of animals, I've never heard anyone suggest the mistreatment of animals. I've never heard anyone say 'we can't spend the money on that' or 'that treatment is too expensive' I've never heard anyone say 'we'll convince parks and wildlife to let us keep that animal' or 'everyone RSPCA are coming, shred those incriminating documents' Sea World are very transparent with government agencies, and they provide facilities to parks and wildlife as needed. They spent $2million on a quarantine centre that makes no money. They fund research projects. They monitor their animals closely. They had a mystery disease go through their fairy penguin population, and when they couldn't be certain they knew what the cause was, they built an entirely new exhibit. The idea of boycotting the park based on misinformation spread by animal rights nutters about a different park is mental, and you are wrong.
  22. Hollywood Stunt Driver nearly had a Hot Wheels theme, so I'd say they've been actively pushing to get the brand into the parks. Really though, the name can hang, what'll make or break it is the new train. Do we know who is even supplying them?
  23. What made it even worse were the people who ran out of the mazes and missed the stairs all together.
  24. Or they could give MACK a call and build what that location is crying out for... http://www.mack-rides.com/en/products/spin-rides/twist-n-splash/sr-ts-video/index.html
