If you're an anti vaxxer, you're already the sort of moron that already wouldn't go to DW because it's too dangerous. This time of year is always quiet. WnW is pumping though, and White Christmas events have been well attended. I don't think the anti vax crowd is having much of an impact TBH. The real proof either way will be after boxing day.

I wouldn't advocate for that model in Australia, but you can't deny the resulting level of service is crazy high. Not just because of the 'grin and bear it' thing, but also places can put way more staff on than they might otherwise be able to. Also as an aside, it's quite common to make a really well paying career out of hospo in the states that's really rare over here. Again not saying that's what I'd like to see here, but I think phrases like simping for the customer, and massive hospo businesses oversimplifies it.

They're publicly talking about building more Top Golfs again, so I don't think it's quite the failure that people are suggesting it is. The location is what it is, until there's a critical mass of bars and nightclubs in the area then it won't quite hit the full heights that it could, but it's not done too badly considering. The closing time thing is really irritating, like just have set closing times. Top Golf overseas have set closing times (Generally 11 or midnight), so there's no reason you couldn't just say 'closing time is 10pm on weekdays and 11pm on weekends' (or whatever) and just leave it at that. This is part of the reason I have trust issues around places that don't advertise a closing time and just say 'Late'. I also agree with the general comments about having a theme park manager as opposed to a hospo manager. As a total aside, which I don't know where else to put, I've made a discovery about Top Golf; it is best enjoyed if you spend an hour drinking BEFORE you start playing. Otherwise the first half an hour is this weird sober energy trying to get into the spirit of it. If you're already 2 or 3 beers in when you start it's so much more relaxed and you can just enjoying the game straight away. Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk.

I don't get the barrier reef theme tbh. Like a beach theme in Ocean Parade, sure! Theme it with surf/surf culture, cool. Pristine delicate eco system and shoot the chutes go fast big splash doesn't mix in my mind.

The peak is very easy to predict, it's the start of the first week after boxing day. The busiest days this year will be the 27th, 28th and 29th.

Bluey is criminally under represented at DW. Some sort of indoor ride would be very welcomed. That's coming from someone with no kids who hates ABC Kids Land. Aside from that, they do need to keep the ball rolling and get another big ride in. Obvious pick would be a shoot the chutes this year, followed by a flat ride or a small coaster the year after. A big 1, 2, 3 punch would do wonders. What I think they'll do is spend the next couple years continuing to tinker around the edges and see if Steel Taipain alone does the trick and put all the focus into the hotel.

'Can' and 'if' I'd a dispatch every min is generous with a ride time about that long, but even that only gives you 240. I would bet on fewer than that

Yeah something family friendly back there makes loads of sense and all that capacity is needed (even if the star attraction has a fairly low capacity). It does look a bit average right now TBH, but that is pretty standard for new attractions before the gardens have had a good chance to grow in. Good to see New getting some love again.

Just watched the ST safety vid. Not much to add, but after watching, I've decided that these things live and die based off the talent, and I think the bloke they got very much saves it.

Yeah I think as valid as that kids experience is, it's not a particualy useful testimony in determining whether an event is good or not. More a personal story rather than actual feedback.

I don't know for sure, but I would suspect that the SW Resort Convention Centre is a good little money spinner for them. Yes you've got the venue hire and events income, but you've also got hotel stays and extra theme park ticket sales. Including one in Oxenford seems like a no brainer.

Yeah look I can give it to the Dreamworld staff who most certainly did not expect to deal with such trauma, I don't think the same of those who signed up in that role to be first respondents. While I think it's worth pursuing against your employer, I'm not sure I agree with going after DW in this specific instance.

The supply side is also lower given it's only 1 train with the spinning seats on ST

Thing is if you pause your pass and become vaxxed, surely they aren't going to stop you from unpausing. Weird it's not just opt in 'From 80% till either you're vaccinated, or restrictions ease' I'm sure there's good reasons doing it the way they're doing it, the reasons are just not obvious from outside.

I mean I'm vaccinated against those things you just mentioned for the reasons you mentioned and I don't think that is uncommon. Lots of parents make it a condition of seeing their kids that you're up to date on your jabs.

27th to the 30th inclusive will be the busiest days at the parks this year. 4th to the 8th will be busy, but an odd choice for my taste.
