  1. Thanks for the info Blake. Hopefully it will be back up and running by the 18th, as I am visiting the park on the 18th!! Looking forward to riding Hair Raiser!! Will take some pics and post a trip report. Cheers!
  2. Agreed Gazza. Europa Park is on my must do list and looks absolutely amazing. Perhaps Alton Towers should be close to Top 10?? Canada's Wonderland also??
  3. Something not planned has obviously happened to Tango;it now states on the website that it is currently closed for maintenance. Hopefully the downtime will not be too long!! The Huss Flying Saucer is a ride that is no longer manufactured and it is very hard to get replacement parts. There are only approx 15 of these rides left in the world and LPS's example is the only one in Australia. Fingers crossed the park can see an economic decision that sees the ride stay operating in the park. If that is not to be, my vote is to move the Tumblebug to the Flying Saucer's current site, which will free up the entire Big Dipper slab for another compact coaster to complement Wild Mouse. This could be a real option and would likely be the best chance for the park to gain a second coaster!!
  4. The Flying Saucer has now been officially deleted from the Park Map. I questioned LPS regarding this and they stated that no official decision has been made yet regarding its eventual fate, however any decision will likely take some time to determine if the ride is salvageable.
  5. Excellent!!! Did you manage to get some pics of the site??
  6. Hehe!! True!! With that name I would want to ride it too!! Sorry Gazza as far as points go its not a very good example!!!
  7. Nice!! Looks like despite it's problems there is still some love for Dreamworld!!
  8. Unfortunately I agree with your sentiments. Whilst this is culturally important, realistically this will not sway the average person to want to visit Dreamworld. In my mind, this is really a non event and one which I will think will not not be a lasting "attraction". I use that term loosely.
  9. The Freak Out is a very similar ride to the Claw at Dreamworld. This ride is brand new and will make its debut at LPS before hitting the ride circuit. It looks like a great ride and will be a great addition at LPS over the summer. Hopefully there will be more additions and announcements to follow- another 2 major rides plus Freak Out and Hair Raiser will make LPS an attractive place to visit!! Furthermore , if the demise of Flying Saucer turns out to be true, then one option would be to move TumbleBug to the Flying Saucers current position , which would free up space for the installation of another compact coaster. There are plenty of examples that would fit in that footprint and would be well within LPS's price range.
  10. Awesome!! Just don't hurt your tongue!!!
  11. Your right GoGoboy..this looks like a great little waterpark!! The Lazy River looks awesome!! I am thinking of doing Singapore at some point soon as well and this looks like the perfect companion to Universal!!! I haven't been to Wet and Wild Sydney yet but from the pics I have see, it looks very sterile. The Lazy River at Jamberoo is far better themed than its WNW counterpart and they have plans for a 2nd Lazy River in their stage 2 expansion!!!
  12. The best thing about Aussie World is that it is never truly madly busy like the majors!! You will have an awesome day and there will be more than enough time for re-rides on everything!!!
  13. Thanks AlexB... Beat me to it. Hopefully we don't have a new RWC!!
  14. Thunder, it is very good to have you back!! Hope you will make your presence known more often!!
  15. Actually the Plunge at Aussie World is an excellent ride, well themed and a brilliant addition for a park of this size!!!!
  16. Well the funny thing is I politely asked for their source of info on Aussie World rides and they asked me to PM , which I did. All I got out of them was that they couldn't say much due to Aussie World. I repeated the question politely again and the next thing I knew, they had blocked me!! I was unbelievably surprised - there was no rancor or malice in my questioning. It tends to call into question greatly the info they are presenting as legitimate.
  17. It will definitely not be Pirates Revenge as this is appearing at LPM for the summer!! Personally I am hoping that Crazy Coaster makes an appearance- it has never been to LPS and if it proves popular, then this will give added impetus to LPS finally gaining a 2nd permanent coaster once again!! I think that it will be a major ride to couple in with the launch of Hair Raiser- although I would not be too surprised if The Disk'O makes another appearance!! Fingers crossed for at least 2 rides to really make this a memorable summer for visitors to LPS!!
  18. Agree with your comments AlexB- you are spot on!! We are lucky to still have parks in Australia like Aussie World, Adventure World and Jamberoo!!! Its keeps the majors honest and keeps the industry alive and gives it a home grown feel- brilliant!! As you say- it is great to see them doing so well!! Aussie World have confirmed to myself on Facebook that the rides will be in place sometime next year, with an announcement early in the half They wouldn't be drawn into what type of Pinfari coaster model has been purchased- however Thrill Zone International on Facebook has reported that it is a kiddie coaster but this is an unsubstantiated rumour at this time. Thrill Zone would not confirm their source or whether the information is accurate. They also alluded and hinted that the Town Hall in Aussie World is getting a revamp for next year as well into some form of new attraction!! This is great news as I plan to re-visit Aussie World late next year!!!
  19. If they had planned fire effects then surely the necessary pipeline would already be in place?? It does not make sense to want to install an important effect that would cause major disruption to the ride AFTER the fact. That is just silly on so many levels! Like AlexB said, I expect the fire effects will come online in the next couple of weeks- and its certainly not being delayed because of the need to lay a pipe!!!
  20. I have since been in contact with LPS and the "official" statement is that the Flying Saucer is down for maintenance. I questioned further regarding it being taken from the ride list on the website and the reply I received was that a decision was pending. Nothing has officially been decided yet regarding its future, however, the fact that it has been deleted from the ride list is a fairly ominous sign. I think what JulieLovis has imparted is quite correct and we will hear the official line soon. There will also be an official announcement this week regarding Holiday rides that will be appearing at the park over this summer!! All in all, quite exciting news for LPS fans!
  21. Well..I did say my opinion!! . Perhaps because it was at LPS I have a soft spot for it....its my considered opinion that the ride experience when it was at LPS was far superior than what it is now at Dreamworld...the overall ambience and the closeness of the cliff made for a far more satisfying ride experience. And although its been a little while since I have ridden it, it is true that time has not been kind. The last time I rode it ( some 3 years ago) it was the roughest ride I have yet encountered on it so I guess the intervening years have made it even rougher. I feel that it is a more satisfying ride experience than Sea Viper, however, and it is certainly in my mind better then Motocoaster and of course I put it above RoadRunner..so I guess I view it simply as not being on the bottom......and certainly nowhere near our best!
  22. Really?? What is your definition of a "proper wooden coaster"?? I am sure LPM and Scenic Railway may contend this statement or even LPS and Aussie World with both examples of Wild Mouse. These 3 examples all definitely come under the umbrella of "Wooden Coaster", I can assure you. A more accurate statement would be perhaps "Australia doesn't have any MODERN wooden coasters". Just my opinion but I really feel that this is harsh. Cyclone IMHO does not deserve this tag and I really do not understand the overall hatred for this ride.........
  23. Thanks for the info Julie Lovis- its sad to see the Flying Saucer no longer in the park. It was a iconic ride since 1995 and featured a unique ride experience!! I have ridden it many, many times and its a shame it can no longer be supported!! The Huss UFO is a fairly unique ride and are actually quite rare- there are about only 17 surviving examples left in the world. Hopefully LPS replaces it quickly with an equally thrilling and iconic ride!! Since the footprint left behind with Flying Saucer's demise is so exact,it will be interesting to see what LPS do with the site. Anyone have any ideas on what would be a good replacement in this spot? Great pics to RangerDude-thanks!!! I am looking forward to riding this in January in my annual trip to the park!!!
  24. This is really good news Gazza!! AussieWorld needs another coaster and a Wave Swinger is a great family ride!! They will both be great family attractions!! As to the coaster, there are several other manufacturers that would have been preferable but its good to see this family park go from strength to strength!! Hopefully we will see a different offering that has not been seen in this country by Pinfari- something like the attached catalogue would be very good!! Any idea on the timeframe for these attractions? Wild-Wind Pinfari.pdf
