What financial facts do you base this on? -

The summer pass is valid until 24 December, the annual pass is valid for 12 months from the date of the first visit? -

I had noted this when I have been on the Buzzsaw. There was nothing stopping the operator walking out to the platform when the ride is operating. Being cleaned up by the Buzzsaw coming through the station wouldn't be pretty. -

Ok sorry about that! Looking at Google maps, TRR does take up a lot of space, it will be a big, and expensive, job removing it all. -

Does the 'Dam' the holds water for the Thunder River Rapids also act as the dam for the log ride? If so, the dam will have to stay so unless they get rid of both using the dam for the new ride would seem a reasonable consideration? I tend to think what ever replaces TRR won't be water based though, that's what White Water Word is for. -

I hope it is something that rivals some of the World's best, but I'm not holding my breath. I gotta get to Cedar Point at some stage... -
I'm really starting to think Dreamworld are going to be in a world over pain over this, in a legal sense. After seeing diagrams of what allegedly happened I can't see how this was NOT a foreseeable event, and that conveyor "belt" with the huge gaps just looks dangerous (and last time I was in the ride I did think that to myself). In a sense, hopefully that is a planned event (pumps failing, water level dropping, rafts getting stuck) and then something unforeseeable happened, such as major safety system failures etc but I dunno, it just looks all too plausible to happen. Those big gaps would also likely lead to an increase of flipping the tubes as the slats 'grab' at the base, as the base gets a little stuck in the gaps, and keep pushing. Further to this is the original conveyor was built with very little gaps, much like most other rides of its kind. I assume the gaps were widened to allow better water drainage and higher friction. Of course this is all speculation, but the facts and allegations don't look good to me at the moment. And that's hard for me to say as a loooong time dream world visitor (my first visit being early 80's! - time flies....)

Doomsday Destroyer - reviews and feedback

Yeah, it's always been the first row of the second car that's left vacant so the operator can get across. -

So are you suggesting Dreamworld are not operating the ride as per the manufacturers design and operating procedures? I've been there numerous times when a row isn't being used to provide a thoroughfare for staff. I was going to mention that! However the last few times I've been to MW both trains have been running and the line is relatively quick. Which is good, as it's my favourite MW ride. -

When there is a huge line of people waiting and the total ride capacity is not usable, it comes across as a poor design to me. Buzzsaw is the same when there's only one operator. They have to leave two seats free so the operator can cross over, surely that could have been incorporated into the design. I just get annoyed when I'm waiting and rides aren't being used to capacity. -

Overall I found it disappointing. I'd probably go on it again if there's no queue, but doubt I'd wait in line. It also seems to be a poor design where the middle seats have a max height restriction due to the junction of the main swing arm and the arm that carries the seats (if that makes sense). That height restriction appears to rule out most adults - at Fright Night a a few weeks back those centre seats (four on each side) weren't being used, I assume as everyone was too tall. So it was running with 8 empty seats!?! I guess it's ok as an intermediate ride for kids graduating from smaller kids rides to the bigger rides, but overall it gets a fail from me -
Thunder River Rapids incident at Dreamworld
mission replied to Brad2912's topic in Theme Park Discussion
This has really shocked me. I’ve been going to Dreamworld since the mid-eighties when I was around 10 years old up to now with my kids. It’s always been a place where I/we can go and just have some fun, a world away from the world. This unfortunate tragedy is of a global scale. I can’t recall (in recent times) any theme park accidents anywhere in the world that have resulted in the death of multiple people. One death is terrible but four is unimaginable, especially so close to home and especially to a park with, as far as I know, a very good safety record. This will go down in theme park history, a part of the history books you don’t want to be in. While it will take some time for official causes to be determined, I truly hope that it wasn’t human error either on the part of operators/maintenance/ or other park staff. It’s bad enough the victims’ families having to deal with the loss of loved ones let alone employee’s being found guilty of misconduct and potentially face criminal charges along with the guilt they’ll have to live with if convicted. As for the future of Dreamworld – who knows? I can’t imagine a park of that size and scale will just close up shop but they definitely have a very difficult time ahead of them. And finally, I’d like to pay my respects to those who died, the families left without loved ones, and park patrons, staff and emergency workers who witnessed this tragic event. I meant to add, the treatment of this event by most media outlets is nothing short of disgusting.
