  1. http://www.sunshinecoastdaily.com.au/news/investor-eyes-coast-for-400m-action-sports-precinc/3052981/ http://sanadcapital.com.au/news-events/sunshine-coast-to-see-world-class-active-and-family-lifestyle-projects/ http://www.ausleisure.com.au/news/sanad-capital-to-partner-with-whitewater-in-developing-sunshine-coast-water/ This new water park has been revealed for the sunshine coast. Looks to have some very nice attractions. Most are unique. It seems to be marketed as a sports theme park... In some articles I saw some skateparks? I also think there was a sky coaster like the one at IAAPA except with a big drop. Also some very cool water slides. The common tornado, but also a White Water Mantis. A very unique ride that will add to Australian water parks. It appears that White Water West has a deal with Sanad to contstuct all of the rides there, as all of the rides shown are white water trademarked.
  2. If we're talking Movie World, there doesn't have to be rides or attractions themed to movies, it could be more about making movies. I know at one of the Disney parks there is a jedi trainer academy. Something like that, but about making Movies. Maybe you could go in with a group, and they have a fake movie set up and you go through all of the parts to making a movie. Then at the end you get to be in a movie. And to make it that much more exciting, they could do the last part where you're in the movie outside, and have cool effects like explosions and water jets, but within the safety regulations. It would also be set up with multiple stations, like indoor, outdoor. This could take up about an hour and would chew through a fair few of the crowds, if you run multiple groups thorugh, one on indoor, one on outdoor. Something along the lines of the movies. I've always wanted to go behind the scenes on movies, and if they change it around every now and again, like one year its action, the next its thriller, I would come back a lot more. And it would also appeal to all audiences.
  3. Wow.... You've gone over the top. This is awesome. This is the quality of posts I enjoy reading.
  4. Bottom line, Sea World has lots of gaps and needs more rides, no matter how you look at it. And removing them isn't very helpful... I really don't want the park to continually remove rides...
  5. This announcement is getting further and further away. Look at Energylandia and Blackpool pleasure beach. They have announced their rides for 2018... thats two years away. I would actually be surprised if VRTP announced it before next year.
  6. Something sci-fi themed would be cool at Movie World. A coaster like Tron light cycle. Isn't a super expensive ride, but the themeing is what makes it look really cool.
  7. We're now discussing carpets... right... Jokes aside, I thought it would be good to look back at older maps of Movie World. The one I've found is from 2010, so just before Green Lantern... Compare and post changes you see that we may not have already noticed, if there are any. 2010 I know there will only be minimal changes so it probably won't bring up anything new... but if you notice anything post it.
  8. I personally think the color scheme put together will look pretty nice... It will give a racing feel. Red and yellow are warm colors so are associaed with going fast and the blue reminds us of the water.
  9. Looking at these photos, I am pretty sure we are just getting a re-tracking of the super 8 aqua racer with no tunnels. I'm happy with this more than I thought I would be. I've looked at the colors, and I like it a lot. I get the feeling that when you're flying down the slide, you'll feel you're going a lot faster as the colors change below you. I think it may make it feel a lot more like your racing. I believe it's a pretty good decision that VRTP has made. I definitely won't count it as Wet n Wild's new water slide though. I am actually quite impressed with what they've done, considering they never said they were building a new slide, they were just putting Super 8 in a maintenence period. I am impressed.
  10. I know I'm going to get a lot of criticism for starting a new thread and I know we have enough already, but I have had so many ideas about future attractions but I haven't been bale to find a thread that follows that idea. So this thread is for enthusiasts to go full nerd and right mega posts about every detail of what they'd like to see as future attractions. Something like what joz did with Seaworld. Just go crazy. To start some conversation off, I wanted to discuss an idea that had kind of been going through my head. In some other topics, we had been discussing a lot of space up the back of Movie World near Wild West falls. I reckon that a woodie would go really nicely there. And if Movie World wanted to go full out why no an RMC? They've already done a lot rides all over the world so I could definitely see that as a possibility. But to be a bit more realistic, I think VRTP could purchase a woodie shuttle like Switchback at ZDT's. It would fit the lineup nicely. At the moment rides, we know would have been constructed at Movie World are full circuits. Now a woodie shuttle would be very good and would round out the lineup nicely. We would have a woodie ticked off, and a shuttle ticked off and a new unique ride that would attract a lot of attention, especially if the park already had a hyper as well. I don't have the time to go full blown theorizing on it yet, but I will have a post with a lot more detail later. IF you have any other ideas, post below...
  11. Now, I know a lot of people are going to disagree here, but from experience, I would love for the Super 8 Aqua Racer to add a small tunnel portion at the beginning. I understand people will say it takes away from the ride, but I personally see it as a fusion of both styles. I've ridden plenty of racing slides a fair few of which had a combination of tunnel and open slide. I personally find the tunnel/open to be the most enjoyable. It gives you two experiences. 1. The enclosed part: slightly scary, your heart pounds as your mind races considering where everyone else is on their slide. 2. The open part: you shoot out into the open and that adrenaline rush comes as you race down with your friends. I remember at an indoor water park that there were multiple bigger, more thrilling rides right next to it, and after each I got slightly bored, but as I soon as I tried the closed/open racer me and my friends wouldn't stop riding. It was in a pretty small area of the world so lines were very short but I remember continually riding over and over, until the park began closing. I only get this feeling slightly on the Aqua racer. Yes, it is an adrenaline rush every time, but each row is the same and after a few rides, the adrenaline dies down and I feel the urge to move on. I think this is partly due to the fact that every slide is that same on the tower. I enjoyed the enclosed open one more because each tunnel had a slightly different experience and direction whether the tunnel twisted right instead of left or went up and then down instead of down and then up. I believe it gives a different experience almost every time and with there being multiple slides to try it just becomes a very fun ride to continually line up for. It also wouldn't cost very much. It would give the same experience as a completely new slide, but only needs the removal of the top half of the slide and some tunnel to fill it in. VRTP is making a lot of big spend on rides and to make sure Wet n Wild isn't forgotten, it would make a lot of sense to go for the cheaper option, while still providing a completely new experience. I think this style of ride looks great. It would be very cool upon arriving to see a mess of tunnels leading to a straight section, and I'd personally go there straight away. I can also see that the new track is blue yellow and white, kind of like the color schemes seen below. Three colors? The ride does look cool though. See for yourself:
  12. How close does that look to Wet n Wild? I'm really hoping they join the parks one day. Maybe this is the start? They could easily steal the biggest theme park in Australia then. And no more driving between parks. They could keep bothe entrances and you could still enter each park individually but joining them would open up so much more possibilities and lines would probably drop as all the attractions are available now.
  13. I wasn't stating that Movie World's coaster would take 4 months, I was just suggesting that it may be quicker than over a year as you had suggested.
  14. Intamin released a new drop tower design at IAAPA called the Sky Jump. It looks a fair bit like a falcons fury style drop tour but a lot cheaper. I reckon a park like Sea World could do with it a lot. Its very different to every other drop tower on the gold coast. We've got one that goes down, we've got one that goes up, and if Sea World put this in, a thrilling ride with a pretty good capacity and small foot print, we would have a drop tower that goes down and twists you around. Have a look: It could be themed to sea birds, like an Osprey.
  15. So, I'm sorry if this is the complete wrong thread, but I didnt see a forum for future rides at Movie World. When I say this I'm talking a couple years in the future. But it could be closser, you never know. Mondial rleased a new flat ride. Its called the blender. Looks very fun. I see it as a mix between a wipe out kind of ride and a Tailspin kind of ride. It looks as if it has a really high ride capacity so would chew through the lines at Movie World. I beleive if they were going to build another flat ride in the future, I reckon it would be maybe two or three years from now. But, American parks like to add things every year, so you never know. The problem I see with that, is that it could take away from the previous attractions. This ride would be a great fit for Movie World, you could theme it to something very cool, I could even see it as an expansion to the Western Area, something along the lines of a rodeo gone wrong and you could have some very cool animatronics. I do hope a woodie gets put there one day. Please tell me if this is the wrong thread, I really feel like it is.
  16. First of all, if we're judging the timing on previous coasters constructed at Movie World, why not judge it on Green Lantern? Just because it was constructed more recently probably with newer and more advanced construction techniques. And if we're going off of construction of other coasters, why not hyper coaster construction timelines or Mack construction timelines. Even better, Mack hyper coasters like Flash? I realise it would almost be impossible to get our hands on the construction timeline for Flash. But Superman is from a completely different manufacturer. It just makes more sense to judge it off a Mack construction timeline. For example, I believe construction could be much quicker here: "After the ride was announced, construction proceeded swiftly, beginning in September and ending in the December 2008. The park spared no expense on the ride, with the total cost coming to 20 million Euros, or 25.3 million U.S. dollars. The ride is the first launched roller coaster built by Mack, and it shares many similarities with the Intamin launched coasterMaverick at Cedar Point in propulsion system, restraints, and featuring a twisted horseshoe roll, these being the only two coasters with that element." Blue Fire Mega Coaster: Coaster-net.com http://www.coaster-net.com/blue-fire-megacoaster.html This states (if you read further of the link) that Blue Fire took about only 4 months to construct. So Mack has very fast construction times. (I haven't factored in everything for example Europa Park may have shut easing construction) But there does seem to be more evidence. This is a photo of Blue Fire's construction. It looks very similar to Movie Worlds new coaster. Look at the boxes on the right of the photo? Any similarity? I'm almost expecting a few cranes to arrive at Movie World sometime soon.
  17. I'm sorry, I accidentally clicked the wrong button, and instead of editing a previous post it quoted one and I tried to get out and it posted it... Is there are way to get rid of it?
  18. Just about all evidence points to it being a hyper coaster, but it's one of the first lessons ever, heigh
  19. So, other than experience of the hot ground at the park, just looking at the park map it's clear some of the problems the park has. I looked through some maps of some other water parks and the problems are pretty big. It's clear that Wet n Wild has been considering this earlier but there definitely needs to be a big improvement at some parts of the park. This is the portion of Wet n Wild (yes its an out of date map, but other than a few slides nothing has changed) that I thinks shows us the most about the park planning. If you look at the wave pool and the kids area you can see some form of green material. I believe this to have been artificial grass, but if I'm wrong please let me know. What this shows us most is the areas that aren't working. The worst area is the bottom part that is all concrete, the area near Aqua Racer and river rapids. I believe this area to have been where some restaurants are located, but its also very open where a lot of concrete has been used. This are is very hot when walking around. And its very understandably so, there is little to no water in the area. If you look at any other water park maps, just about all paths wind around pools. This is the water park area of a Legoland park. It clearly revolves around the pools and slides in the complex. Its a very family oriented area but it still applies to larger water parks. All paths rap around and between slides. This is great planning as people who aren't wearing shoes are able to walk through the pools and they in turn splash water around landing on the paths and cooling them down. This makes it easier to walk around, uses up less space as it forces paths to wrap around pools instead of being very spread out. Another example of the water park planning. This time the park is more spread out with bigger slides. The slides and pools end up being very long and thin and always wrap around the paths. This is a prime example of the technique. It is also aesthetically pleasing as the public always see water, pools and slides. And most of the time Wet n Wild does similar things, sometimes replacing the pools with grass patches. The only area that they don't, is surprisingly the part crowded with the most slides. All of the slides aim inwards leaving a big open patch full of hot concrete that heats up in the sun. Now I see a few ways to fix this. Most cost a fair bit of money but would open a lot more space up for the park. 1 way is replacing the restaurant ( I believe it looks like a main building.) with a pool, then having a ride like Triple Vortex that is very elevated and ends up splashing into the pool there. This would keep the area arounds paths cool as well. But this would kind of ruin the areas line of sight. When you alk in it is a beatiful sight... Multiple slides coming from every where framed very nicely. And adding a ride where I said would kind of ruin it. Another area is where the toilets are, you could have a slide come down into there, and then continue further along the kids area coming to a stop some where further along. It keeps the line of sight, splashes onto the path and keeps it cool. This could also, include a Proslides custom tower. Now, to give the best sides of the arguments for new slides, you could include a unique set of dueling body slides on the same slide tower as a new big ride as I talked about in the previous big post.
  20. thank you for clearing that up. Was a bit confused as to why the photographer didn't show the logo first as they had on other rides.
  21. Personally I don't believe any of what I posted was true, but before you say (if you dont think its true, why'd you post it?) I just thought we should have a very open mind. I really do thinks its a hyper, but I just didn't know where to place the post. A new Mack ride... Also, I meant "Rollin Thunder" not big thunder mountain. I appreciate the feedback. Thanks, and I will try not to post something of poor quality like the above again.
  22. I know this is very unlikely but because RCDB say it's not a hyper what about this? Go to 3:29 to see the Mack stall. It may be worth watching other parts if your interested. They seem to have an inverting spinning launch that looks fairly tall. A new design announced at a similar time that the MW announcement is due? I reckon and hope for a hyper, but you never know. Also, is the car shown as Big Thunder a Mack ride? If so has it already been built? I've never heard of it and if it hasnt, maybe that's a hint to the new ride. But it almost looks like the seats move?
  23. I think that a few things Wet n Wild need, are thus: 1. A new design of pathway, when I was walking towards Aqualoop, my feet were so hot, and there was no where to cool your feet off, and they were literally burning. I believe that a away to stop this, is by building some little pools here and there, as when paths go around there, if you dont have shoes, you can easily walk in the pool. 2. They don't massively need a new waterslide, but I believe they will be due, and there are a few styles of slides they are missing. For example, they are missing a ride such as the rip, and while it may seem similar, they could also incorporate a wave turn like the one below. This is Bombora at Wet n Wile Sydeny. The Sydeny wate park, has a lot more mordern slides than the Gold Coast one, and Wet n Wild defiently needs something like this. But it may just look like a bigger Kamikaze, so that is why you incorporate a BehemothBOWL, such as the rip, but more like this at one of Six Flags water parks. I could see Wet n Wilds having a longer trip, before entering the bowl. This would keep the water slide original, not just in Australia but also in the world. I believe the one at Six Flags is one of the only in the world. But this does look like a very expensive style of ride, and if VRTP were going to spend so much on their water park, it may be worth while spending on a tower of a few slides that are cheaper than the above. I'm thinking something like this. This has some smaller BehemothBOWLs in it and also a few normal slides like Constrictor, that I could see gaining a unique element. Some have raised the point that Wet n Wild, need more body slides, and I don't believe they do. You've got the Aqualoop tower, the Jet Stream tower, and the river rapids, which is a fair few body slides. I'd like to see a unique big ride that has a high capacity such as the four-seaters, to chew up some of the lines which reach up to over an hour. As to where the rides could go, I see some space where a volley ball court is near Kamikaze. I'm not quite sure what is in this space, other than a field and the court, and I'm also not sure what the volley ball court gains for Wet n Wild. If any one knows please share. I've always felt that the area was a little empty and could do with a ride. There is also a bit of a creek that seperates the Extreme H2O zone from the rest of the park, and I can see a ride that goes over the creek, which would be pretty cool, and it would make the seperation of the park more aesthetically pleasing. Ther is also space up the very back where a few tables are covered. I understand that these can be rented out, but there is a lot of space there that could be used. See the map below: The red spot is the area over the creek. The reen spot is where the volley ball courts are. The yellow spot is where a few tables are. These are just a few ideas as for what Wet n Wild could do to mordenize their park. If Wet nt Wild, were to spend big on new rides, I'd also like to see them introduce a system I saw in the trailer for the new Volcan Bay water park in Orlando. They give out bracelets at the door, and you use these to save your self a space in the qeue, and then when your time comes, you jut walk up and ride.
  24. well, then it can't be that expensive, and would the general public really think about it that way? It looks kind of cool, but I can see a chain over using it...
  25. Sorry, complete wrong topic, thanks for pointing that out. Is there any way to remove it?
