  1. Maybe they hope he will trick people into going to Dreamworld...
  2. "This park is a piece of shit. Close it"
  3. Maybe thats the long term plan? Build a new Overflow, rebuild the main carpark as a low rise parking structure on the current overflow section and then they have room closer to the park and further away from houses and highways for the possible hotel / new rides? Still wishful thinking.
  4. Because the melbourne airport train line is expected to cost around the $10 billion mark according to ABC on 22/7/2018. A new busline would be a whole lot cheaper.
  5. 1) My previous post I made an assumption he had higher qualifications in engineering than what he actually has, my apologies. 2) Although I generally agree, I know someone who is a manager within an Airlines engineering department, and from discussions with him, the calls and decisions they make are all based off data they get from the actual engineers and the manufacturer. If he employs this tactic then it could work quite well.
  6. I wonder if the bay reduction means larger bays the the total area is reduced. How many bays does the main carpark have at the moment? Does this mean they want the new carpark gated with CCTV and 24 hour security lighting or lights turned off after use? Hours of operation surely would be until like 10pm or something?
  7. Gold Coast parks were in a bad spot too but had big car parks and council put on bus transfers. If the park is popular and demand is high enough I'm sure a route will be diverted or a new one build. Alternatively do what Australia Zoo does and run their own free shuttle. Rock up at the train station and call the number. They have signs at the train station advertising this.
  8. I get what you're saying but i bet there wouldn't be a lot of them around with also the experience to manage a team of that size. I think this is a good step in the right direction. Someone in this position shouldn't be doing the day to day work as they will be doing as they said in the presser, managing the team and overseeing the maintenance activities and reviewing recommendations from his staff. Obviously he will need to be trained in each ride so he can understand. With this type of position at the end of the day you're looking at 2 skills, engineer and people management, he apparently has both but his engineering needs to be refined a bit further. Just my opinion. I get DW does some dumb stuff but this one to me doesn't seem like a terrible decision.
  9. Hmm good point. I forgot the time table was set in stone and couldn't be updated when situations change such as new rides, shows and or experiences or additional feedback is given about the scheduling. /s
  10. The parks (and Gold Coast Council / GC Tourism) would need to see the VIC ones as potential competition for that to work and drive growth and innovation (and planning / permit assistance from council).
  11. The distance between the parks isn't relevant. Its the distance between a park and the population.
  12. But the continual investment in the parks may get the GC parks to spend a little more to not lose those tourist dollars. WnWGC hasn't had a big investment in a long time, and the continually discussed SW lack of attractions come to mind and it appears Gumbuya is slowly replicating the best aspects of those two parks (although land animals, not sea).
  13. Along with reduced maintenance staff since they have a longer time to complete the works.
  14. Movieworld does free sauce for sausage rolls. Good on them.
  15. I'm impressed they bought the hypercoaster outright. I wish they announced their FY20 plans.
  16. slightly off topic and I think it might have been discussed? Would it be viable for MW to build a 3-5 story car park structure so they can expand further? visually it wouldn't be amazing and could possible dwarf existing / smaller rides + planning permission is required...
  17. "QFES simulate a roller coaster malfunctioning and rescuing all onboard since these rides are dangerous and break down often" - some news site
  18. What about a Special Effects attraction? Like Backdraft/Twister at Universal?
  19. Apart from ToT II and Buzsaw that seem to do this also.
  20. Money being no issue, what would you put in that area?
  21. Didn't someone from Dreamworld confirm ToT II capped out at like 120km or something on this forum?
  22. The only reasoning I can think of for this is if people a building from a ride and wonder what it is they can look at the map? But at the same time... no. Just no.
