The New Atlantis - Construction Updates
HussRainbow87 replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Just got off the first ride to the public, can confirm it is the same cycle we have seen in videos. Fountains don’t rise. the flips are insanely fun, I have forgotten how big these Huss rides actually are when I haven’t seen them in a while. I think the cycle is fine for opening as they’ll want to get through as many as possible. just needs more upside down moments and full speed loops because the thing can hammer when they get going. all in all, the area is cool! Glad I got to be one of the first. -

Hopefully a soft opening in the coming days, I’m back to Melbourne on Thursday and it would be a nice way to end 7 months up here! -

Haha sorry wrong choice of wording, although something must have been up with the jets on the Top Spin at Alton Towers when we rode it because we got absolutely soaked! -

I mean it was cool on a hot day in Paris, but you don’t get drenched, just a quick splash on the head haha. It was more fun trying to splash each other when they hold you over the jets -

I mean they still sell them, and they’ve been installed in an few parks in recent years. I’d say they’re still pretty popular, but when you’re dealing with a machine that was originally designed in the early 90s, of course there isn’t going to be a demand like before. I think many are stuck with “vekoma is better, because of the movements” but not because I’m team HUSS, the top spins just provide a better ride motion and feeling. Although I’m sure once it’s open people are going to criticise it regardless. Shame there doesn’t seem to be any rider interaction with them. The best part of the cycle is when they hold you over the jets and you can splash each other before they go full strength and get you drenched. The French gave the best cycle I’ve ever had on a top spin. For example, YouTube Fleur Top Spin Fresh! I think I had a 10 minute cycle and it was incredible! -

Be interesting to see if the Sky Flyer is still being made by Funtime.... arguably the best chain ride manufacturer in the world, the 80m models are just beautiful machines! -
I wouldn’t say impressive really. The only thing I’m kinda interested in is that pendulum thing that actually goes 360 which people seemed to have missed. There is a counterweight arm in the renders. And as for the European comment, they put far more effort into their attractions than anywhere in the world, best atmosphere that no park or fair elsewhere could match.

I mean the I mean the only thing that looks of some quality is the Intamin coaster, and even then with such a low capacity those coasters hold, that’s a bit of a stretch. I don’t really look at that concept and think, I need to be there opening day of any of these attractions. Even when the Huss rides were there, I didn’t really feel any desire to want to visit the place when I was in Sydney.
