Luna park 9 new rides construction
Coasterjoe replied to Coasterlife's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Will be a sad day for coaster enthusiasts when it retires. I hope both Luna Parks have ambition to preserve wild mouse and scenic railway for as long as they possibly can. -
Man its so tragic... There just seems to be too much room for error than comfortable. - Free flowing rafts that are not controlled outside of the conveyer belts - susceptible to mechanical faults that can cause collisions and tipping - Inflatable rafts vunerable to pressure changes - Riders are restrained, so in the event of a tip drownings are more likely. Im not saying they are inherantly dangerous and should be banned, I am just saying I think for these particular rides a lot more thought needs to go in to how to make them safer. Im really showing I am a parent now haha

You dont say??! Im shocked! I think 2 separate incidents involving the same model type in less than a decade is more than enough to consider the safety of these rides. How often do you see ride malfunction killing someone? Most fatalities at theme parks are caused by human error. It may not have the death toll associated with inherantly dangerous activity, but considering thousands of people ride these daily with little to no assumption of risk, we should be asking these questions.

Well that settles it then RMC Raptor named Wonder Woman Flight of Courage, set to be the tallest and longest single rail coaster in the world and bringing MM to an astounding total of 20 coasters. Not guna lie, I think a ride like this would be a perfect replacement for AA One can dream!
-
Hmm red and yellow doesnt rule him out. But I agree its unlikely to be supes as he already has a themed ride at MM. Flash or WW make more sense, especially with DCEU announcing movies for both heroes in the pipeline.
-
True, it does make more sense that its a different super. The Flash probably makes the most sense given the colours of the track and supports that are there. Who knows, it could be a red herring and its something else entirely.
-
Maybe! My money is on the RMC Raptor below being themed off Superman I should have investigated prior to posting haha. In that case maybe unlikely that they are announcing another new large scale attraction, I would say its most likely to do with the official naming of the raptor which would be superman related.

Looks like Six Flags have a big announcenent incoming. Thoughts on gaps to fill, maybe an RMC Raptor or another single rail design?

Its actually a damn fine looking coaster, thanks so much for the update! Gutted you cant enter 'the cathedral" would have been amazing if they somehow encorporated it into the que. It looks like there will be some ok airtime moments, and some good lateral G moments too, some of those banks look like crazy good fun. Im also amazed at how much track they managed to get into a relatively small area for a Woody. Great to see SW getting some much needed love in the rides department, cant wait to ride this!

I guess I am just more suprised to see its still there tbh. I remember the second half of the layout being so uneventful and slow you are basically crawling by the time you hit the brake run. I felt that if it had an increased launch speed and sharper transitions it would actually be a decent coaster. Definitely dreaming here but even if they had renovated it to include a second launch into a more intense layout similar to jet ski rescue. I will forever be salty about this ride, its such a damn cool concept that was so poorly executed imo.

Its been about a decade since I visited dreamworld, did they ever do any improvements to MDMC or is it still the worlds most boring launch coaster.
-
Thanks for the contributions guys! Nevertheless its a gimmick I am keen to try one day.

Any news on a road runner opening date yet?

Not sure if this is a topic that has been discussed before but ive always liked the idea of a standup coaster. General consensus I have found is the majority of enthusiasts dont like them. Certain rides like riddlers revenge at six flags mm look great. Just wondering who here is actually a fan of the concept? Do you think its a concept we will see incorporated into modern coasters or will it be stuck in the 80s/90s. Is the thrill of standing worth the discomfort? Imagine a standing giga... Keen to know your thoughts.

Sounds like good advice. I definitely dont have hustle so i might need one for six flags lol We are yet to lock in dates yet but we allowing about 5 days inbetween NY and Cedar Point including days at six flags and hersheypark.
-
On the topic of USA trips if you are to visit in the peak season what parks are essential for fast passes and which ones could you prob get away with? I feel Six flags MM prob needs one due to the sheer size of the place, maybe also universal
-
Its just time and money. I did not feel I will have enough time to fit all the parks in I wanted to. Universal and Disney are non negotiable and I liked Magic Mountains lineup better. Knott is on my 'if i have time list.' It looks like a great park, but at the end of the day I am only planning to spend about a week in LA and as an older bloke I need some downtime. UPDATE: I spoke this with the crew I am going with and after watching a few more videos and reading more reviews and considering the input from you guys we have decided Knott's is in!

LA- Disney, Universal, Six Flags MM Fly NY Coney Island, Six Flags GA, roadtrip to Hersheypark, Cedar Point and Kings Island
-
One park I dont hear much about is Kennywood. A lot of enthusiasts rave about Phantoms revenge and believe its one of the best steel coasters in the world. When I was putting together my itinerary I liked the lineup at Hersheypark more and cut Kennywood due to time constraints. Did I make the right choice? Has anyone here visited Kennywood?

Im planning a similar trip but no matter how I looked at it somethings gotta give because theres too much and not enough money/time. At the moment this is my trip. FLY LA- Disneyland, Universal, SFMM FLY LA- NY- SFGA, then roadtrip to Hersheypark, cedar point, kings island then home again. There is obviously a huge amount of parks that are missing but these were the parks I most want to visit. The good thing about america is outside of flights there and park entry America is a pretty cheap holiday if you dont mind flea motels. For me, I really wanted to visit Florida but I am on the cusp of what I can afford time and money wise. Florida has enough for a solo trip all on its own tbh. Well to me it makes sense because if you were visiting florida from Australia you will go via LAX anyway so you may as well spend a few days in California.
