  1. If you are talking about the slope if the lift then no that's not true. Look at Vekoma's invertigo models...inverteds with almost the exact same sloping as standard boomerangs...the GIB's are vertical simply to provide a higher thrill and ofcourse because they are so huge it is much more space effective. Or were you meaning something else about the lift hills that I totally missed?
  2. TOT isn't what I consider a drop so to speak. I mean a traditional forwards facing drop. The LW one is OKish in the front seat I guess but still not steep enough or big enough (and too banked). I am talking Goliath or Desperado type first drop. It's funny, Desperado is one of the roughest coasters in existence and a horrible overall experience (you need to learn how to ride it defensively lol) but they got the first drop perfect..it's still in the top 5 best first drops ever.
  3. Out of the choices given I voted wooden. Nothing beats a GOOD woodie...if it has tons of air, rough enough but without breaking your back (like bush beast used to), then I'll ride it all day. The perfect example of a perfect woodie was Ghostrider in the BACK seat in it's opening year. It's gotten a bit TOO rough of late but the first time I ever went on it was at 10pm on a Staurday there in summer, in the back seat, and to this day I still think that experience is unmatched by anything else (and i've done alot of coasters!)
  4. I don't care what they build as long as it has an awesome first drop. Is it just me or has anyone else noticed we don't have ANY coasters in all of Australia with even one decent drop?
  5. Thanks Clint for the good news. Maybe I'll see you around there! Have fun:)
  6. I am arriving in the GC on Feb 15th 05, and am staying till the 23rd. What are the best days to hit Dreamworld? i.e. for lowest projected crowd numbers? Also Movieworld? Everyone is definitely back at school by then right? So I presume weekdays? cheers and TIA.....
  7. PLEASE no! Maybe one overbank MAXIMUM somewhere to break up the ride but please not as a major "feature"..Xcellerator is half awesome half boredom. After the breathtaking launch and awesome tophat airtime, the rest of the ride is nothing. in fact, I think timewise the overbanks are longer than the launch and tophat combined What we need is a launch, tophat, then a couple of airtime hills. I don't even want an inversion on this because then we need OTSR's. airtime is much more fun with just lap bars A high speed high G helix wouldn't go astray either. What I am really hoping for is a fierce launch and tophat followed by a mini hyper.
  8. hmm i've been on a lot of coasters but never has one stopped me actually so close to the "end of track" before. Thanks for the info though I aprreciate it. Deep down I knew it was safe but ineed it was freaky lol, enough to make my heart skip a beat when it happened. Merry Christmas everyone!
  9. Although Cyclone is incredibly boring (especially without the terrain that the sydney Big Dipper version had), it is at least tolerably smooth and inoffensive. So that's my vote. Vekoma Boomerangs are for masochists. especially tall ones (I am 6'4")
  10. it was definitely Meisho but alot of people including myself initially got confused and thought it was a Schwarzkopf. Look at the lazer at Dorney Park and the drop and loops look exactly the same.
  11. I don't remember the last time i got a bit of a fright on a ride, but scooby did this to me when I finally visited the GC and rode it in Feb. I went on it about 10 times and this did only happen once I will admit but I thought it was cutting it a bit close and wonder if anyone else agrees. I am talking about the brake before the lift. this particular time the lift was right up the top and we had to wait for it..and the car stopped literally right on the edge of a big hole at the last minute with no previous signs of braking. if the brakes had even minorly failed we'd have gone right over the edge and the lift come down on top of us and squash us. I just felt it was a bit unsafe personally, and want to know others' thoughts on the issue.
  12. Please don't get overly excited about Kumba I was there June this year and it gave me a headache. There's much better b&m multiloopers around. It was a real dissapointment. But Bush Beast? WOW! that really is the epitemy of rough. Besides the very front seat I don't know how one could actually say it was an enjoyable experience. and that brake after the first turnaround just killed the rush. Favorite coaster of all time that i have ridden? hmmm, there are a few. I'd have to go with Talon as my favorite all time invert, rarely talked about but I love it. super smooth and a couple of pops of great air too. Nitro was also pretty damn special and is porbably my favorite hyper. Have to think about which sit down/floorless looper....
